A bed base structure comprising two side rails (3) and two crosspieces (4) assembled to each other and at least one rectangular bedding plate (2) secured to the side rails (3) and crosspieces (4) of the base, the side rails (3) and the crosspieces (4) of the base being made from a carton-based material comprising a honeycomb core (7) that is flexurally rigid and sandwiched between two carton sheets (8, 9) glued to the core (7), the bedding plate (2) also being made from a carton-based material comprising a honeycomb core (5) made from flexurally rigid carton sandwiched between two carton sheets (6a, 6) glued to the core (5) and making up the upper and lower faces of the bedding plate (2), in the position of the side rails (3) and crosspieces (4) assembled to the bedding plate (2), the honeycomb cells of the side rails (3), crosspieces (4) and bedding plate (2) being oriented in the same direction perpendicular to the plane of the bedding plate (2) and the side rails (3) and the crosspieces (4) being secured to each other and to the bedding plate (2) so as to form a support frame protruding from the lower face (6) of the bedding plate (2) and opposite the upper bedding support face (6) of a mattress, characterized in that each side rail (3) and each crosspiece (4) is in the form of a right-angled rhomb and is connected to the bedding plate (2), in the state before making the base, by a flexible carton sheet portion (16a) belonging to the same carton sheet (6) making up the bedding face of the bedding plate (2) and the corresponding face of the side rail (3) and the crosspieces (4) so as to allow the side rails (3) and the crosspieces (4) to be folded down on the face of the bedding plate (2) opposite its bedding face (6) to form the support frame bordering the bedding plate (2), and in that the bedding plate (2), the side rails (3) and the crosspieces (4) have a same thickness and in that the side rails (3) and the crosspieces (4), in the state before making the base, are connected in parallel to the bedding plate (2) by the flexible portions (16a) of the carton sheet (6) at a distance from the bedding plate (2) that is twice the thickness of that bedding plate (2), so that in the position of the side rails (3) and crosspieces (4) fixed under the bedding plate (2) after they have been folded down, the outer sides of the side rails (3) and crosspieces (4) are in a same plane as the outer sides of the bedding plate (2).
  3. The base structure according to claim 1, characterized in that the ends of the side rails (3) and the crosspieces (4) have conjugated inclined faces (13) so as to bear on each other in the fastening position of the side rails (3) and crosspieces (4) on the corresponding sides (11) of the bedding plate (2).
  4. The base structure according to claim 2, characterized in that the crosspieces (4) are fixed between the ends of the side rails (3) perpendicular thereto.
  5. The base structure according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that it comprises two or more other bedding plates (2) superimposed on each other.
  6. The base structure according to one of claims 1 to 5, with which a headboard is associated, characterized in that the headboard is made from a carton-based material comprising a honeycomb core made from a flexurally rigid carton sandwiched between two carton sheets glued to the core making up the front and back faces of the headboard.
  7. The base structure according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the side rails (3) and the crosspieces (4) are secured to each other by stapling and/or gluing and are fixed by gluing to the sides (11) or on the lower face (6) of the bedding plate (2).
  8. A method for manufacturing a bed base structure with side rails (3), crosspieces (4) and a bedding area (2), characterized in that it consists of cutting out a rectangular base plate (14) from a flexurally rigid carton-based material comprising a honeycomb core (5) sandwiched between two carton sheets (6) glued to the core (5), cutting out the base plate to form four slots (15, 16) therein framing an inner rectangular plate making up the bedding plate (2) of the base so as to define outer side rails (3) and crosspieces (4) respectively parallel to the longitudinal and transverse sides of the bedding plate (2) and which are connected to the latter only by connecting portions (6a) making up the bottom of the slots (15, 16), the connecting portions (6a) between the side rails (3) and the crosspieces (4) on the one hand and the bedding plate (2) on the other hand being flexible to allow the side rails (3) and crosspieces (4) to be folded down under the bedding plate (2) or on the sides (11) of the bedding plate (2), folding the side rails (3) and crosspieces (4) down under the bedding plate (2), fastening the side rails (3) and the crosspieces (4) to each other by stapling and/or gluing and fastening the side rails (3) and the crosspieces (4) to the bedding plate (2) by gluing to form a support frame protruding from one face (6) of the bedding plate whereof the opposite face serves as a support for a mattress and such that the honeycomb cells of the side rails (3), crosspieces (4) and bedding plate (2) are oriented in the same direction perpendicular to the plane of the bedding plate (2).
  9. The method according to claim 8, characterized in that it consists of forming the slots (15, 16) with a same width twice the thickness of the bedding plate (2), side rails (3) and crosspieces (4) and cutting out the side rails and the crosspieces such that the side rails (3) have a length equal to the length of the bedding plate (2) and the crosspieces (4) have a length equal to the width of the bedding plate (2) decreased by twice the width of a side rail (3) such that in the folded down position under the bedding plate (2), the crosspieces (4) are arranged perpendicular between the side rails (3) at their corresponding ends.
  10. The method according to claim 8 or 9, characterized in that the side rails (3) and the crosspieces (4) are flexurally rigid and have the same square transverse cross-section.
  11. The method according to one of claims 8 to 10, characterized in that the connecting portions (6a) belong, after forming the slots (15, 16), to the carton sheet covering, in a same plane, the bedding plate (2), the side rails (3) and the crosspieces (4).
