Definitions

  • the present invention relates to timepieces with date display. It relates, more particularly, based on the same principle, a manual calendar corrector mechanism for single date and automatic date corrector mechanism for perpetual calendar.
  • the date mechanism makes it possible to signify the date of the month by means of a pointer moving on the dial or of a disc rotating under the dial and revealing its indications through a window.
  • This type of system is well known to those skilled in the art and is described in detail, for example, in the book "Théorie de l'horlogerie” by Reymondin et al, Fédération des ijks Techniques, 1798, ISBN 2-940025- 10-X, pages 189 and following.
  • the date indicator disk or needle
  • the date wheel whose last element is a wheel of thirty-one performing a lap in thirty-one. and-one day advancing 360/31 ° every twenty-four hours, around midnight.
  • a needle display it is mounted integral in rotation on the shaft of this wheel.
  • a disk display it is driven by a finger secured to the wheel thirty-one.
  • a toothed wheel called a cam
  • the cam has depressions whose depth is correlated with the length of the months.
  • the cam has forty-eight or twelve sectors, depending on whether the mechanism takes into account leap years or not.
  • the document US212882 describes a watch equipped with a push button for manually entering information relating to the current month and transmitting this information to a date mechanism thereby performing the correct display of the date at the end of the month.
  • the document FR536251 describes a system for automatically controlling the display of the date which takes into account the current month, programming means correct the date at the end of the month.
  • the present invention has the primary purpose of providing a simple date corrector for simply program the correction of the display of the date any day of a month of less than thirty-one days and return it the last day.
  • the second object of the invention is to provide a perpetual calendar mechanism devoid of the usual cams and latches.
  • the mechanism according to the invention is intended to take place in the movement of a mechanical or electro-mechanical watch with date display.
  • the realization of this function being perfectly known to those skilled in the art and not specifically the subject of the invention, it will not be described in detail.
  • the essential member of the mechanism is a ratchet clutch movable 15 having two coaxial toothed discs, lower 16 and upper 17.
  • the lower disc 16 meshes with the thirty-one wheel and thus turns in the opposite direction of clockwise (hereinafter, SIAM).
  • SIAM clockwise
  • the upper disk 17 is driven into the SAM by a pusher 18 protruding from the middle of the box to form a button 19 accessible to the wearer of the watch. Pressing the button 19 advances the disc 17 one step, that is to say 360/31 °, then a spring 20 ensures the return of the pusher 18 to its initial position.
  • Mobile 15 is provided, according to a construction well known to those skilled in the art, ratchets and a spring placed between the two discs 16 and 17, but not visible in the drawing.
  • the lower disk 16 thus rotates in the SIAM independently of the upper disk 17 which drives the disk 16 only when it rotates in the SIAM, but not when it rotates in the SAM, being content, in this case, to load the spring.
  • a first flip-flop 22, called a small flip-flop, is pivotally mounted about an axis 23 on the upper face of the upper disc 17. It consists of two arms 22a and 22b, typically forming an angle of about 120 ° between them, and respectively directed inwards and outwards of the disc.
  • the outer arm 22b is normally held in abutment against a stop 24 disposed at the periphery of the disc 17 by a spring (not shown), while its end is flush with the edge of the disc. Note, as shown in FIG. 2 shows that the small rocker 22 is at the same level as the finger 14 of the thirty-one wheel 10.
  • the mechanism comprises a second rocker 25, called large rocker, which pivots about an axis 26 riveted to the plate.
  • This rocker is roughly L-shaped.
  • Its small arm 25a is positioned at the level of the upper disk 17 and ends with a lug 27 that a jumper 30 applies against the toothing of the disk to prevent its rotation in the SIAM.
  • the large arm 25b of the large lever 25 is disposed on the upper disc 17 and has a shoulder 28 arranged to receive the thrust of the small arm 22a of the small latch 22.
  • the large arm 25b ends with a boss 29 intended to undergo the action of a safety pin 31 riveted to the upper face of the disk 17, when it rotates in the SAM.
  • the series of numbers 28, 29, 30, 31 is inscribed on a portion of the periphery of an indicator disc 32 fixed on the shaft of the upper disc 17, above it.
  • a window 33 formed in the dial 13 shows, depending on the position of the disc 17, one of the numbers in the series.
  • the thirty-one wheel 10 rotates the lower disk 16 of the clutch mobile 15 in the SIAM, without this having any effect, since the upper disk 17 is held stationary by the pin 27 and by the pressure of the jumper 30 on the small arm 25a of the large flip-flop 25.
  • the indicator disc 32 is then positioned so that the number 31 of the series of the disc 32 appears through the aperture 33.
  • the date display needle 12 normally performs its function and the finger 14 passes over the upper disk 17 without its stroke crossing the small rocker 22.
  • the finger 14 comes into contact with the large arm 22b of the small rocker 22 and pivots it around. its axis 23.
  • the small arm 22a then pushes on the shoulder 28 of the big rocker 25, applying a pressure greater than that exerted by the jumper 30.
  • the large rocker 25 pivots and the lug 27 leaves the contact of the toothing of the upper disc 17.
  • the upper disc 17 jumps three steps in the SIAM, moved by the spring that discharges suddenly. It also drives the lower disc 16 which meshes with the thirty-one wheel 10. This and the date indicator hand 12 thus also jump three steps in the SAM.
  • the hand 12 then indicates the first day of the month on the series written on the dial 13.
  • the number 31 of the series of the indicator disc 32 appears from through the aperture 33.
  • the mechanism operates in the manner just described, but the user respectively applies two or one pressure on the button 19 of the pusher 18 thus advancing the upper disc 17 of two or a step.
  • the security pin 31 is at the base of the boss 29 of the large arm 25b of the large rocker 25.
  • a new pressure on the push 18 rotates the upper disk 17 by an additional step in the SAM and the stud 31 pushes the boss 29 by applying a pressure greater than that exerted by the jumper 30.
  • the large rocker 25 rotates in turn and the pin 27 leaves the contact of the toothing of the upper disk 17, allowing the return of the spring of the mobile 15 to its rest position.
  • a date corrector mechanism is proposed to program the correction to be made on any day of a month of less than thirty-one days, this being restored on the last day of the month, around midnight.
  • the present invention finds a second application in a perpetual calendar mechanism, illustrated in Figure 4, which automatically takes into account the number of days of the different months.
  • the mechanism in Figure 4 is presented in a simplified version that does not include leap years. It has a wheel of 40 months divided into twelve sectors 41, each corresponding to one month of the year. Each of these sectors 41 is either toothless if it is identified at a month of thirty-one days, or provided with a tooth 42 for the months of thirty days, or provided with three teeth 42 for the month of February. These teeth 42 are arranged in a manner that will be explained later.
  • the teeth 42 are engaged with an intermediate mobile 43, meshing itself with the upper disc 17 of the clutch mobile 15.
  • the teeth of these different mobiles have identical steps, so that an advance of a not wheel 40 causes the same advance of the disc 17.
  • a star of the months 44 to twelve branches 45 is mounted coaxially and integral in rotation of the wheel 40 months.
  • Each branch 45 corresponds to one month of the year.
  • the star 44 is positioned by a jumper 46 with two inclined planes, so that, for example, when the tooth 42a of the sector 41 of the month April of the wheel 40 is engaged with the mobile 43, the branch 45a of April is in the path of a finger 47 mounted on the shaft of a second wheel of thirty-one 48.
  • the latter is identical to the first thirty-one wheel 10 and meshes with it.
  • the length of the finger 47 is greater than the radius of the wheel 48.
  • the first thirty-one wheel turns in the SAM and drives in the SIAM, on the one hand, the second thirty-one wheel 48 and, on the other hand, the lower disk 16 of the mobile clutch 15 without other incidence.
  • the finger 47 is arranged to be flush with the branch 45b of the star of the months 44 corresponding to this month, preferably the first day of the month. Then, when, on this first day, around midnight, the thirty-one wheel 10 and thus the wheel 48 and the finger 47 advance one step, the latter pushes the branch 45b and drives the star 44 and the wheel 40 months of a step in the SAM. Already, they are in place for the following month.
  • the rotation of the wheel 40 and the star 44 is in two stages. First, the rotation is slow when the branch 45c resting on the jumper 46 raises it by sliding on its first inclined plane. Then the rotation is fast, when this branch arrives on the second inclined plane. The pressure then exerted by the jumper 46 accelerates the movement of the star.
  • the sector 41 b of the wheel of 40 months corresponding to a month of thirty-one days does not have teeth and therefore does not drive the intermediate wheel 43, although it is located with respect to him during the rotation of the wheel.
  • the upper disk 17 of the clutch mobile 15 does not move either and no movement is transmitted to the thirty-one wheel 10.
  • the indicator disk 32 shows, through the window 33, the number 31 corresponding to the number of days in the month.
  • the finger 47 comes flush with the branch 45a of the star of the month 44 corresponding to this month, also the first day of the month. Then, when, around midnight, the thirty-one wheel 10 and thus the wheel 48 and the finger 47 advance one step, the latter pushes the branch 45a and drives the star 44 and the wheel 40 months in the AM.
  • the teeth 42 of the 40-month wheel and, more particularly, the tooth 42a of the sector 41a corresponding to this month of thirty days, are positioned so as to drive the mobile 43 into the SIAM at the time of the fast phase of the rotation of the star 44.
  • the latter rotates a step in the SAM, the upper disc 17 of the clutch mobile 15, charging its spring but without driving the lower disc 16.
  • the small rocker 22 is now positioned so that its large arm 22b comes into contact with the finger 14 on the thirtieth day of the month, around midnight.
  • the number 30 on the indicator disc 32 appears through the counter 33.
  • the large flip-flop 25 prevents any rotation of the upper disk 17 in the SAM.
  • the finger 14 advances by one step, it comes into contact with the large arm 22b of the small rocker 22 which pivots and pushes the large arm 25b of the large rocker 25.
  • the latter turns in turn and releases the upper disc 17.
  • It then jumps a step in the SIAM, moved by the spring of the clutch mobile 15 which discharges suddenly, and together drives the lower disc 16.
  • the wheel of thirty-eight and a 10 and the date indicator hand 12 also jump, too, one step, in the SAM.
  • the needle 12 indicates the 1st day of the month on the recorded series on dial 13 and the number 31 of the series of the disc 32 appears again through the aperture 33.
  • the mechanism For February to twenty-eight or twenty-nine days, the mechanism operates in the manner just described, but the month wheel 40 rotates the intermediate wheel 43 and thus advance the upper disk 17 by three or two steps.
  • the skilled person will have no difficulty in adding a system, called the Maltese cross, to the wheel of the 40's.
  • the sector corresponding to the month of February presents, once every four years, two teeth causing a jump of two steps from the date indicator needle 12 at the end of the month of twenty-nine days.
  • the month wheel makes it possible to display the current month by means of, for example, an indicator needle mounted on its shaft and pivoting on a small dial.
  • a green zone located on the top disk and occupying a 360 ° / 31 angle can scroll under the dial. It is visible through holes corresponding to the positions occupied by this green zone when the corrections were made for the months of 28, 29, 30 or 31 days.
  • the portions adjacent to the green zone are preferably red to signify that the numbers in the series 28, 29, 30, 31 to which red is assigned do not indicate the number of days in the current month.
  • a needle mounted to rotate on the shaft of the upper disk 17 indicates, on a portion of the dial, the number of days that must comprise the current month, according to the actual state of the corrector.
