Definitions

  • the invention relates to a head airbag arrangement for a motor vehicle with a gas bag which is concealed in the folded state between the roof liner and a roof rail and a gas generator for inflating the gas bag with propellant gas in the event of a crash.
  • the headliner headliner is installed one after the other in a temporal manner, the head airbag being preassembled in the area of a side roof spar in complex overhead work and then the headlining is used as a facing on the face.

  • the necessary vehicle-fixed structures and the limitations of the installation space are perceived as particularly disadvantageous.
  • the object of the invention is to avoid the disadvantages which have arisen in the prior art and to enable reliable airbag deployment, with the aim of achieving a simple system structure with low coordination problems.
  • the combination of features specified in claim 1 is proposed.
  • the invention is based on the idea of creating the unfolding space during a pre-filling phase by means of a multi-chamber arrangement. Accordingly, it is proposed according to the invention that the gas bag has an elongated tubular pre-filling chamber which can be inflated with transverse expansion for the edge-side folding down of the headliner, and a propellant gas which can be acted upon via side overflow openings of the pre-filling chamber and which can be unfolded downward through an outlet area released when the roof lining is folded down.
