Abstract

The invention relates to a screen printing cylinder with a circular screen (03, 103) and a doctor blade (01, 101), arranged on the inner surface of the circular screen (03, 103). A web (07, 107), is arranged parallel to the cylinder axis on the lateral surface (05, 105) of the doctor blade (01, 101), facing the ink pushed before the doctor blade, whereby the doctor blade (01, 101), a section of the circular screen (03, 103) in contact with the above and the web (07, 107), extending from the doctor blade (101), form an open channel bed opposed to the direction of rotation of the screen printing cylinder. Guide means, in particular, grooves (108) are arranged at least both longitudinal end regions of the web (07, 107), for diversion of the ink, scraped from the circular screen (03, 103) by the doctor blade (01, 101), along the longitudinal direction of the doctor blade (01, 101) towards the middle thereof.

Description

The invention relates to a screen-printing cylinder with a round screen and an employed on the inner surface of the round screen doctor.

Screen-printing cylinders are equipped with a round screen and a squeegee attached to the inner surface of the round screen. Such a doctor blade is usually held stationary while the cylinder rotates in the operation of a screen printing machine. By the rotation of the cylinder is applied to the inner surface of the round screen applied color before the squeegee and forms a Farbwulst there. When it has reached a sufficient size, the hydrostatic pressure acting on the ink due to the rotation of the cylinder becomes so great that color passes through the screen and can be printed.

Due to the rotation of the round screen, the color bead is also driven to rotate around itself and thereby rises to the squeegee. He tends to dodge in areas where the hydrostatic pressure is lower, especially towards the longitudinal ends of the doctor blade. In this way, ink is progressively transported to the edges of the screen printing cylinder, where, if left unprinted, it remains until it has lost its printability. This leads to color losses and also requires regular cleaning of the screen and the squeegee.

The patent US 6,142,070 describes a doctor blade for a screen printing plate at the two longitudinal ends of each a lateral Farbdeflektorblech is arranged. These deflectors prevent a lateral escape of color. However, during the forward movement of this device, the ink accumulates in the corners formed by the longitudinal ends of the doctor blade and the deflectors.

The patent US 5,503,067 also describes a squeegee for a screen printing plate. The squeegee itself is bent forward at both its longitudinal ends, so that escaping color escapes from the sides in the corners thus formed. Furthermore, the squeegee carries several parallel, aligned transversely to the doctor blade wings, which reduce the lateral spread of color. This device has no means to urge the advanced color flow towards the center of the doctor blade.

The invention has for its object to provide a screen printing cylinder, which does not have the initially mentioned deficiencies.

This object is achieved according to the invention by a screen-printing cylinder having the features of claim 1.

The paint stripped from the squeegee by the squeegee collects in the channel bottom into a bead which is driven to rotate about itself by the rotation of the squeegee and, by the interaction of the rotation of the bead and the orientation of the guide means according to the invention, becomes the color pushed towards the middle of the squeegee.

The advantages that can be achieved with the invention are that the deflecting means prevent or at least significantly reduce ink accumulation on an edge of the doctor or screen printing cylinder where it is not printed. Thus color losses during printing are avoided, and the need to interrupt the printing operation to clean the squeegee or screen cylinder is at least significantly reduced.

In order to ensure a uniform distribution of the ink along the doctor blade or to counteract an undesirable accumulation of ink in the center of the doctor blade, the deflecting means may preferably be designed such that their effectiveness decreases from the longitudinal ends of the doctor blade to the center thereof ,

In a middle region of the doctor blade, the means for deflecting the color may also be completely omitted for the sake of simplicity.

The web can be part of a Farbleitplatte, which rests against the doctor blade. The Farbleitplatte may have support means to hold the doctor blade stationary in the screen printing cylinder. The web of Farbleitplatte can carry the conductive agent in itself or on itself.

According to one embodiment, the guide means for deflecting the color comprise ribs oriented obliquely to the circumferential direction of the round screen. These ribs utilize the rotation of the color bead around itself to propel it to move toward the center of the squeegee. The ribs engage in a channel bounded by the squeegee, a portion of the sieve contacting it and a web extending from the squeegee and open in the direction of rotation of the screen printing cylinder to prevent penetration of the paint applied to the inside of the sieve to allow the channel.

The decrease in the effectiveness of the ribs toward the center of the doctor blade can be e.g. be achieved in that the height of the ribs, with which they engage in the channel decreases from the longitudinal ends of the doctor to the center. Another possibility is to reduce the inclination of the ribs with respect to the circumferential direction of the round screen from the longitudinal ends of the doctor to the center thereof. If ribs are present in the middle of the doctor blade, they are not inclined, but oriented parallel to the direction of rotation of the doctor blade and thus do not cause a shift in color.

According to another embodiment, the guide means for deflecting the color obliquely to the cylinder axis oriented grooves, wherein the grooves are formed in the web. The grooves form a groove system whose effectiveness can be modulated by the design and arrangement of the individual grooves. The depth of the individual grooves can also decrease starting from the upper edge of the web in the direction of the doctor blade surface, so that the hydrostatic pressure of the ink in the vicinity of the doctor blade edge is more homogeneous.

The doctor blade 01 shown in Fig. 1 is a rigid rod which extends over the entire axial length of a screen printing cylinder and of which a longitudinal edge 02 is provided to the inside of a round screen 03 of such a screen printing cylinder in the in Fig. 4 shown manner to partially rub off by a not shown inking on the inner surface of the round screen 03 applied paint, partly through the round screen 03 through to press on the outside of the screen printing cylinder.

The paint stripped off by the squeegee 01 accumulates on its upper side to form a bead 04, which is formed by the rotation of the screen-printing cylinder in the direction indicated by arrow 06 in FIG Fig. 4 designated direction to a rotation about itself, as indicated by an arrow 09, is driven.

Color that flows along the top of the squeegee 01 during the rotation of the bead 04 around itself, finally reaches a web 07 which protrudes from the top of the squeegee 01 against the direction of movement of the round screen 03 and flows up to this. As can be seen in the perspective view of FIG. 1, a plurality of ribs 08 serving as guide means are arranged in the angle spanned by doctor blade 01 and web 07, which penetrate into the rotating bead 04 and rotate about itself in an axial movement component imprint on the middle of the squeegee 01. The ribs 08 thus prevent the bead 04 from reaching the ends of the doctor blade 01, where the ink otherwise escapes unused and sticks to the edge of the round screen 03 could and would require a cleaning of the screen cylinder in a short time.

In the embodiment of Fig. 1, the inclined ribs 08 are arranged only in each case in the vicinity of the ends of the doctor blade 01, but missing in the central region thereof. Under static operating conditions, this is sufficient for a uniform distribution of the color even in the middle area of the doctor blade 01 free of ribs 08, because the ribs 08 act as barriers which prevent the color from escaping towards the ends, while at the same time in the middle, from the ribs 08 free area of the doctor blade 01, color in the longitudinal direction of the doctor blade 01 can migrate, so that compensate for local differences in thickness of the bead 04 and associated uneven distribution of the hydrostatic pressure in the bead 04 over time. In the area of the ribs 08 itself, however, the thickness of the bead 04 tends to rapidly decrease towards the ends of the doctor blade 01, which may be troublesome, although the area of the doctor blade 01 on which the ribs 08 are arranged is printing surface of the round screen 03 passes over. In order to achieve a continuous taper of the bead 04 toward the ends of the doctor blade 01, it may be considered to design the ribs 08 each with an increasing efficiency from the center to the ends of the doctor blade 01. Such increasing effectiveness of the ribs 08 can be achieved, as shown in FIG. 2, by gradually increasing the inclination of the ribs 08 with respect to the orbital motion of the round screen 03 from the center of the squeegee 01 towards its ends, or As shown in FIG. 3, the height of the ribs 08 gradually increases from the center to the ends of the squeegee 01.

The Fig. 5-7 show a second preferred embodiment of the invention with a Farbleitplatte, which also serves to hold a conventional doctor blade.

In the Fig. 5 shown ink guide plate 100 is an elongated plate which extends over substantially the entire axial length of a screen printing cylinder. In the vicinity of the upper edge, the ink guide plate 100 has a plurality of bores 110, 111, which allow the Farbleitplatte to be fixedly screwed into the screen printing cylinder. Like it Fig. 7 shows, the clamped between a carrier 112 only partially shown and the Farbleitplatte 100 squeegee 101 is fixed in place in the screen printing cylinder by means of screws 113.

Like from the Fig. 5 to 7 can be seen, the lower thickened portion of the Farbleitplatte 100 is formed substantially prismatic and forms a web 107, which protrudes from both the surface of the color guide plate 100 and the surface of the squeegee 101 facing the squeegee 101.

In Fig. 7 the round screen is indicated by dashed lines. It can be seen that the inclined surface 106 of the web 107, the adjacent surface 105 of the doctor blade 101 and the sliding of the longitudinal edge 102 of the doctor blade 101 surface of the round screen 103 form a channel sole, in which, upon rotation of the screen printing cylinder, by the doctor 101 stripped paint collects into a self-rotating bead, similar to the first embodiment.

Like from the FIGS. 5 and 6 it can be seen, in the longitudinal end regions of the web 107 of the Farbleitplatte 100 oblique grooves 108 are formed spahnabhebend. In the illustrated embodiment, these grooves 108 are inclined by about 45 ° relative to the longitudinal edge 102 of the Farbleitplatte 100. Thus, they impart a component of movement to the rotating bead towards the center of the color guide plate 100.

In the, in the Fig. 6 and 7 illustrated embodiment, the outer inclined surface of the web 107 in the grooved longitudinal end region on two different inclinations. In the lowermost region closest to the surface 105 of the squeegee, the inclination corresponds to that of the surface 106 over the total length of the squeegee 101. It is defined by the angle α of the squeegee Fig. 7 shown. In the area above it, the inclination with respect to the surface 105 is smaller and is due to the angle β Fig. 7 shown. The longitudinal axes of the grooves 108 correspond to this latter slope. There, how out Fig. 7 is apparent, the angle α is smaller than the angle β, the grooves 108 are tapered near the lower edge of the Farbleitplatte 100 and flattened, as best of Fig. 6 is apparent. Thereby, the local distribution of the color, as well as its hydrostatic pressure in the vicinity of the scraping edge 102 of the doctor blade 101 becomes more homogeneous.

Those skilled in the art will appreciate that the effectiveness of the groove system between the longitudinal ends and center of the color guide plate is modulated by varying the groove depth, groove width, the distance between adjacent ribs, the inclination of the groove axes, and / or the extent of this groove system versus the overall length of the color guide plate can.
