Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for producing a bone implant material, in which crushed bones are cleaned with a cleaning agent, and to an apparatus for carrying out this method.
- Bones are implanted in a large number of people worldwide. Since body-related material brings with it a relatively high level of compatibility, bone fragments are also suitable as a carrier material for delivering medication directly to defined application parts. Tissue and bone banks have been set up to meet the need for implant material. In order to ensure a corresponding amount of implant material, it has already been proposed to clean cancellous bones. The cleaning methods that have become known in this connection are mostly time-consuming and technologically complex, with high criteria being set for cleaning with a view to the desired purpose of use in order to rule out an infection risk.
- the cancellous structure of the bone substance is preferably used for such a cleaning, although cleaning is made more difficult by the large number of channels, cavities and blind holes. Appropriate surface cleaning does not lead to the desired result considering this structure.
- granulation of bones into very small pieces with subsequent cleaning in a drum under the influence of a large number of different liquid chemicals has been proposed, for example.
- a disadvantage of this method is that the granules obtained in this way are not easy to handle for larger implants. Bone implants are adapted to the respective intended use and it is therefore advantageous if the shape of the implant required in each case can be produced by cutting from a larger piece of bone. Larger pieces of bone are now again only to be cleaned with greater effort, the known cleaning methods mostly also being so time-consuming that it is hardly possible to provide the corresponding amount of material required in an economical manner.
- the invention now aims to provide a method of the type mentioned, with which larger pieces of bone can be cleaned efficiently and in a short time from impurities and / or germs and overall an implant material can be provided in a form that is simpler Can be adapted to the respective application site and application.
- the method according to the invention essentially consists in that the bones are comminuted by cutting them into disk-shaped parts and that the cleaning agent is sprayed onto the surface of the disk-shaped parts under pressure via one or more nozzles. Because the comminution is first carried out by cutting into disk-shaped parts, bone pieces that are easy to handle can be formed, which can be easily adapted to the respective implant site by further shaping.
- the shape of the disk offers reproducible geometric requirements for the handling and use of cleaning agents, whereby, according to the invention, the cleaning agent is sprayed onto the surface under pressure via one or more nozzles, and a corresponding penetration into the channels, cavities or blind holes cancellous structures can be guaranteed.
- the cleaning effect is preferably further improved by spraying the bones simultaneously from two or more directions.
- the method according to the invention in which cleaning agents are sprayed on under pressure, is also suitable for relatively large bone parts, whereby, as is preferred, it can be carried out in such a way that the comminution to a disk thickness of less than 10 mm, preferably 5 mm to 7 mm. Such discs can subsequently be brought to the desired dimensions or the desired shape for an implantation in a particularly simple manner.
- Intensive cleaning, even of relatively thick panes, can be achieved according to the invention in that the cleaning agent is expelled under a pressure of 1 bar to 10 bar, preferably 2 bar to 3 bar, and as already mentioned at the beginning, the procedure is advantageously such that the slices are cut from a part of a bone with a cancellous structure.
- the spongy structure of the bone substance that is preferably used can be cleaned in a relatively short time to the highest level of purity and, if necessary, to ensure that it is sterile, the device to be used for the method according to the invention being relatively simple and requiring only minor investments.
- the cleaning agent is advantageously expelled via a plurality of nozzles with a different axis of their jet, as a result of which the complex surface structure of cancellous bone substances can be taken into account.
- nozzle heads such a plurality of differently oriented nozzles can be implemented in a simple manner, the procedure advantageously being that diethyl ether and / or alcohol is used as the cleaning agent for spray cleaning.
- diethyl ether under a pressure of about 2 to 3 bar leads to "micro-explosions" and evaporation upon impact of the cleaning agent, with maximum protection of the surface structure due to the formation of turbulence in the micro-cavities mechanical and chemical cleaning can be done in a very short time.
- the required cleaning time can be reduced even further by pivoting the bone disks and / or the nozzles during the spraying process.
- the device according to the invention for carrying out the method is essentially characterized by a pump and / or a pressure tank for conveying cleaning agent to a nozzle head and a plurality of nozzles arranged in the nozzle head and a device for holding disks.
- a corresponding nozzle head with a plurality of nozzles arranged in the nozzle head requires no complex construction, and the design can be freely selected within wide limits.
- the design is advantageously such that the nozzles in the nozzle head are at least partially oriented in different directions from one another, a particularly preferred design being achieved if the nozzles are designed with an adjustable spray angle and / or adjustable spray direction.
- FIG. 1 shows an embodiment of the cleaning device according to the invention
- FIG. 2 shows a detailed view of the spray device.
- Fig.l a prepared on slices of bone 1 is shown, which by simultaneous spraying with cleaning liquid under Pressure is cleaned.
- the spraying takes place through several nozzles or nozzle blocks 2, which are designed to be movable in their orientation to the bone surface.
- the jets of the cleaning liquid emerging from the nozzles or nozzle blocks 2 are denoted by 3.
- F ⁇ g.2 it can be seen that the individual nozzles or nozzle blocks 2 can be designed to be pivotable according to the double arrow 4.
- the movement of the nozzles or nozzle blocks can also take place linearly parallel to the bone disk surface according to the double arrows 5.
- the same effect is naturally also achieved if the bone disk 1 is moved in an oscillating manner relative to the nozzles or nozzle blocks 2.
