Description

Stand der TechnikState of the art

Mechanical World Time or GMT watches, there are some, both digital and analog. The most common models with a mechanical movement have an additional hand that allows a second time zone to be read on a 24-hour dial. The disadvantage of such models is the unfamiliar time display of the second pointer, because the learned behavioral pattern is the reading of time on an analog 12h dial.

Often, these models also have a time zone ring that is attached and rotates either as a turning ring or as a ring in the dial. The time zone ring contains 24 destinations. This allows the user to read the time simultaneously in 24 time zones. The disadvantage, however, is again that the reading of the individual time zones is complicated and does not correspond to the learned behavior pattern, it is therefore often errors when reading.

For a few years, there are also GMT watches with a pusher, which allows the hour hand by pressing in 1h-rhythm forward or readjust. Although the analog readability has been improved, but there is the disadvantage that these GMT clocks are not handy and that the sequential change of time in the 1h-rhythm is tedious and tedious.

An arrangement for pointing is off DE 2853911 or DE 1943087 known.

Zielsetzung:objective:

The present invention is therefore based on the task of developing the most complete and user-friendly world time clock that ever existed on a mechanical basis. This means the following:
  • Best possible usability: The user must be able to change to any time zone in the simplest and fastest way and be able to read the time there.
  • Best possible readability: the clock must display the time in the set destination according to the learned analogue behavior pattern.
  • Artisana Horlogere: This timepiece will be powered by a mechanical gearing located in a watertight housing.

Anforderungen:Conditions:

Es soll immer nur eine Zeit angezeigt werden, d.h. es gibt entweder eine Home time oder Destination time.Only one time should always be displayed, i. There is either a home time or destination time.

The watch has a rotary ring with 24 place names. The place names are listed according to their official deviation to the prime meridian and have an indication of whether there is an official DST (Daylight Saving time) at this location.

The rotary ring can be rotated both clockwise and in the opposite direction. He snaps into 24 positions according to the time zones. When turning to the right, the hour hands move forward; when turning left, the hour hands move backwards. Optionally, this principle can also be reversed, i. Turning the rotary ring clockwise will cause the hour hands to move backwards and left to move forward.

The rotary ring is lockable, so that the time zone can not be accidentally adjusted.

When turning the rotary ring, the hour hand directly and synchronously adjust to the place located at 12 o'clock on the rotary ring.

Funktionsprinzip:How it works:

The solution according to the invention of these objects results from the features in claim 1.

(Siehe Fig.6)To enable interaction between the rotating ring and the hour hand, a gear train has been designed and developed that can be engaged and disengaged from outside the housing while at the same time ensuring watertightness. (Please refer Figure 6 )

The coupling process is actuated by a lever on the housing. It is opened or closed via a device such as a lever connected to the housing.

The lever locks on its shape and the shape of the rotary ring in the closed state, the rotary ring. If the lever is not used to block the rotating ring, this is done by the shape of the pusher.

When the lever is open, the rotary ring is rotatable in both directions.

The lever operates a pusher. This pusher in turn operates another lever, the clutch rocker, which engages and disengages the mechanism.

When the lever is open, the mechanism is engaged and the user can turn the desired location on the rotary ring to 12h. The displayed time corresponds to the place on the rotary ring at 12 o'clock.

The 24-hour hand, which rotates in sync with the 12-hour hand, once every 24 hours and has its own number scale, informs the user whether the destination is set, day or night.

Another innovation is the consideration of the display of summer and winter time (= DST, Daylight Saving Time). All places that introduce a statutory summer or winter time are marked with a symbol on the turntable marked. If summer time is required for a location, the user must set the DST icon for the location to 12 o'clock and the current time of the location will be displayed via the hands.

Detaillierte Funktionsbeschreibung:Detailed functional description:

The turning ring in Fig.1 has a fixed at the bottom, front-toothed gear (6) which drives a vertically mounted wheel (5) in the housing, which in turn drives a coupling wheel (4). The shoots (4,5) are connected by a shaft. The Figure 6 shows that the housing and the gearwheel have been designed so that this vertical wheel (5A) is 'hidden' inside the outside of the housing and is connected to a coupling wheel (4) via a sealed axle (5C). As a result, the waterproofness is achieved. The cap (5B) closes the drive wheel to the outside. The drive wheel (5A) is always connected to the sprocket ring (6).

Fig. 2 zeigt die Ausgangslage. Fig. 2 shows the starting position. The lever (1) is closed and pushes the trigger (2) inwards. The pusher (2) in turn actuates the clutch rocker (3), which has disengaged the clutch drive (4) in this state. The clock always shows the time on the destination that is set at 12h or 24h. In Fig.2 London is dialed and the hands (15,16,17) show a time of 7:30 in the morning.

Fig. 3 zeigt den Einkupplungsmechanismus.

Fig. 3 shows the engagement mechanism. The lever (1) of the clock is opened. The following processes occur:
  • The lever (1) moves outwards.
  • The pusher (2) is released and pushed outwards by its own spring.
  • As a result, the blocking of the rotary ring (7) with its sprocket (6) is released.
  • The clutch rocker (3) is pressed by the shift pad spring with one end against the inner part of the pusher (2). If the pusher (2) moves outwards, the clutch rocker (3), depressed by the gearshift pad spring, takes the position "engaged".
  • The other end of the rocker switch engages the clutch drive (4) or the clutch shaft in the first change gear (8). On this shaft is fixedly connected to the outer gear (5), which is in engagement with the spur toothing (6) of the rotary ring.
  • If now the rotary ring is moved, the minute gears (8,9) are moved via the external gear (6) and the drives (4,5). The minuteries in turn drive the hour change wheels (10,11). (please refer Fig. 1 )
  • The minute train (9) simultaneously moves a 12-hour change gear (10) and a 24-hour change gear (11).
  • In the recess of the 12-hour wheel is a pliers-like double spring (= double pliers (12) in Fig. 1 . 2 . 3 . 4 . 5 ) so that it engages with its two notches in a drive star (14) with twelve teeth / cuts. This shoot is firmly attached to the quarter tube of any base.
  • When the 12-hour wheel (10) is moved by the mechanism described, the double spring of the pliers (12) will open and the two detents will each move the number of slots corresponding to the number of time zones on the rotary ring. Since the catch is firmly connected to the 12-hour wheel (10), the 24-hour wheel also rotates via the 12-hour 24-hour change wheel. Thus, always the actual local time of the place is displayed, which is located on the rotary ring at 12 o'clock.

The rotary ring (7) can be moved in both directions. In the example in Fig. 4 turn the rotary ring (7) to the right until the destination 'Moscow'. Each time you turn, the hour hand (16) and the 24-hour hand (15) move forward at 1 hour intervals. The clock now displays a time in Moscow from 10.30 am. The fine dash to the left of Moscow on the rotary ring indicates that Moscow has a summer time + 1h. The user must therefore make sure that winter or summer time prevails. If summer time prevails, the user moves the rotary ring (7) once more to the right. The clock would display 11:30 in the morning in this case.

By closing the lever, the clutch mechanism is moved in the opposite direction and the clutch drive (4) disengaged from engagement with the first change gear (8). The shape and dimensions of the lever (1) and the clutch rocker (3) are chosen so that the blocking of the rotary ring (7) is always lifted only when the mechanism is engaged. Or vice versa First, lock the rotating ring (7) and then disengage the mechanism. This avoids accidental desynchronization of the mechanism.

So that when the lever (1), the rotary ring (7) is closed, can not be moved accidentally, a special trigger shape was designed (see Figure 7 ), which has a dual function. On the one hand, the pusher actuates the clutch rocker (3) in Fig. 1-5 and blocked by its shape the gear rim (6).

Fig. 5 zeigt das Räderwerk in umgekehrter Form. Depending on whether the user views the world in the direction of the South Pole or North Pole, the destinations can be reversed. In Fig. 1-4 the gear train was designed so that when turning the turning ring clockwise, the hour hands jump forward and jump backwards when turning left. Fig. 5 shows the gear train in reverse. By omitting a minute train, the 12-hour change wheel (10) and the 24-hour change wheel (11) are moved directly over the minute train (9). In this variant, the hour hands move in the opposite direction to the direction of rotation. This means that when the turning ring is turned to the right, the hour hands will jump backwards and the left will turn forward. The rotary ring usually has 24 destinations, but in alternative versions may also have more destinations or less.

The watch has been designed so that the gear train can also be linked to another display, in particular the date, but also the day of the week, the month or the year. When linking the gear train with the date, the date jumps one rotation before or after the 24h limit, one day before or after, depending on the direction in which the turn ring was turned.

The transmission mechanism in Fig.1 However, it can also be used to directly adjust the date, day of the week, month or year via the rotating ring without being coupled with the time display. In these applications, the corresponding unit is adapted to the rotary ring, eg. 31 units for the display of the date, as well as the number of teeth on the sprocket and the gear train.

Another application of the transmission mechanism in Fig.1 is an integrated alarm clock, which can be adjusted via the rotary ring with a 24-hour display.

Figure 6 shows that the turning ring consists of two parts. Of central importance is the rotary ring insert (19), which is fastened by four screws (18). This design allows a quick and easy replacement of the rotary ring insert (19). The rotary insert can be personalized in such a way that the destinations can be put together according to the customer's wishes. Depending on the customer's requirements, the world time clock can contain all important business destinations for a businessman, contain all major stock exchanges for an exchange broker, contain all the islands for an island lover or contain the names of all important golf courses in the world for a golfer.

The transmission mechanism in Fig.1 has been designed to be connected to existing movements or to be part of a completely new movement. The mechanism can also be connected to a chronograph movement. The pushers are mounted on the left side of the housing. Alternatively, the transmission mechanism may also be used to operate the chronograph functions by rotating the rotary ring.
