Definitions
- An advantage of the described procedure in the presence of water vapor is that reduced by the water vapor, the partial pressure of the hydrocarbons and thus the conversion is increased. Furthermore, the steam feed converts some of the carbon deposits on the catalyst to CO 2 and the cycle times, ie, the operating times of dehydrogenation between regenerations, can be extended.
- the addition of excessive amounts of steam is disadvantageous, since it leads to a large increase in volume of the gas stream, which leads to additional investment costs and burden the efficiency of the process. Furthermore, then also increases the risk of steam reforming of hydrocarbons, resulting in product loss or yield reduction.
- the amount of steam that can be added without the problems described above being dependent on the absolute pressure at which the reaction is run and the dehydrogenation catalyst used.
- EP 0 799 169 B1 a reactor for such a dehydrogenation process with SHC, in which a paraffin-oxygen mixture is passed over a first catalyst which selectively oxidizes both dehydrogenated and hydrogen formed, a further addition of oxygen into a gap of the reactor and a subsequent second Catalyst which also selectively oxidizes both dehydrogenated and hydrogen formed.
- the process of EP 0 799 169 B1 is autotherothermic, the highly exothermic reaction (2) of the hydrogen with the oxygen provides the energy to carry out the endothermic dehydrogenation reaction (1).
- the temperature setting by indirect cooling is disadvantageous because it requires fixed heat exchanger installations, which does not allow targeted temperature control in the regeneration of the catalyst bed, or makes an installation for a temporary extraction of the heat exchanger required, such as a lockable by additional valves such as valves bypass , The latter would be associated with extremely high costs in view of the large tube cross-sections and the high operating temperatures of about 500-650 ° C, which brings the dehydration with it.
- the direct cooling by inert gases is disadvantageous because they must be separated from the product in the subsequent product processing by consuming process stages.
- the direct cooling with steam is disadvantageous, since steam in the reaction, as described above, is not inert and sets by cooling a certain steam-to-hydrocarbon ratio depending on the cooling. As a result, the amount of steam increases significantly with heavy cooling, which adversely affects the process by increasing the volume of construction required and the likelihood of undesirable steam reforming of hydrocarbons.
- the amount of added, oxygen-containing gas in the second or further stages via the measured outlet temperatures of each upstream catalyst beds or on the outlet temperature of the last catalyst bed is controlled.
- Fig. 1 The feed mixture 1 consisting of propane and steam is heated in the gas-gas heat exchanger 2 at 550 ° C.
- the heated feed mixture 3 is passed into the dehydrogenation stage 4, where a part of the propane reacts to propylene.
- a temperature of 570 ° C is set at the outlet of the dehydrogenation stage 4.
- the reaction mixture 5, a defined water-steam mixture 6 is added, whereby the mixture 7 is cooled to 510 ° C and the water vapor is adjusted to hydrocarbon ratio in the dehydrogenation 8 targeted.
