Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a set of arc branches for recurve type arcs.
  • the present invention also relates to a method of manufacturing arc branches and a set of arc branches.
  • a recurve arc consists of a central handle that the archer takes in hand, and at the ends of which are mounted removably, two branches on which is stretched the rope.
  • Arcs of initiation are known, intended for beginners to archery, whose handle is made by the association of several parts of different materials, such as those described in the documents EP-0.791.799 and FR-2.673.276 .
  • recurve branches are made of laminated wood or thermoplastic polymer material.
  • the branches In order to adjust the power of the arc to a given threshold, the branches have different power levels. To obtain these powers, the branches have different thicknesses and shapes.
  • One of the problems that the invention proposes to solve is that of adapting the material of the branch of the arc to the high stresses and stresses experienced during the various phases of archery.
  • a second problem is to allow the manufacture of arc branches and an arc of very good technical characteristics, while remaining compatible with ranges of cost corresponding to initiation arcs.
  • Another problem is the adaptation of the material of the branches of an arc to the multiple requirements of the archer, concerning the power, the trajectory of the arrow and the positioning of the center of gravity and the pivot point.
  • the invention thus relates to a set of at least two arc branches.
  • An upper arc branch and a lower arc branch are selected from the branches of the assembly, to form a recurve-type arc by mounting at the ends of a handle.
  • Each of the arc branches is a piece of monolithic structure made of an injectable thermoplastic polymer material comprising charges.
  • the set of arc branches is characterized in that the arc branches of the assembly have identical dimensions and geometry, and is characterized in that the polymeric material of said branches
  • the arc of the set comprises a variable charge content, so that at each charge content corresponds a variable power for the arc.
  • the invention proposes branches for easily achievable arcs and a cost price corresponding to those of an initiation arc, but with much better mechanical qualities.
  • the branches are single pieces whose shape is determined by a single mold and made of a single material variable composition, depending on what the manufacturer wants to offer the archers.
  • injectable thermoplastic polymer materials are used for their excellent properties of resistance to deterioration by the usual climatic or atmospheric conditions in any region of the planet and for their resistance to shocks and scratches.
  • the filler content may be substantially between 5% and 60% by weight of the polymer material, giving a power for the arc, measured according to the 26 # 1/4 Extension Standard of the Berger Button, substantially between 14 pounds and 40 pounds.
  • the polymeric material may advantageously be an aromatic polyamide.
  • This polymer may be very preferably selected alone or as a mixture in the group comprising polyarylamides, liquid crystals (LCP) and polyamide imides (PAI).
  • the fillers can be chosen, alone or as a mixture, in the group comprising glass fibers and carbon fibers.
  • the polymer material of the arc branches may comprise a fiber content of between 12% and 60% corresponding to a power for the arc, measured according to the 26 # 1/4 Extension Standard of the Berger's button, substantially between 14 pounds and 36 pounds.
  • the branches may comprise at least one opening provided at the proximal end.
  • the opening may also be a longitudinal anteroposterior through-slot. This opening makes it possible to reduce the weight of the branch, to vary the distribution of weight as well as the thicknesses of different zones according to the desired mechanical characteristics.
  • a set of arc branches is characterized in that it is obtained by an implementation of the method as presented above.
  • a recurve arc (1) comprises several parts, namely a central handle (2) with a gripping zone (3), which the archer takes in hand, and on which are mounted two branches (4 and 6).
  • An upper branch (4) extends upwards and a lower branch (6) extends downwards, the two branches (4 and 6) holding the ends of a rope (7).
  • the branches (4 and 6) of the recurve arc (1) are mounted removably on the handle (1) to allow the adaptation of their length and rigidity to the archer's morphology, as well as to the evolution of its technical level. Incidentally it also limits the size of the bow (1) and to facilitate storage and transport.
  • the establishment of the branches (4 and 6) of the arc (1) takes place in a housing (not visible), provided for this purpose at the two ends of the handle (2).
  • a branch (4) is in the form of a curved structure (8) comprising at one of its ends (9 and 11), at its distal end (9), means (12) for fixing the rope (7), similar to a lateral notch. From this distal end (9), the structure (8) then has a continuous groove (13), oriented inwardly when the archer holds his bow in hand. The depth of the groove (13) decreases as the approximation of the middle part of the structure (8), until no longer exist. This groove (13) is used for the passage of the rope (7), which lodges there.
  • a first through hole (14) is formed in the structure (8). This orifice (14) is used for fixing the branch (4) on the handle (2).
  • the opening (16) is anteroposterior, that is to say is oriented from the inside to the outside when the archer holds his bow in hand.
  • This opening (16) has an elongate shape along the median longitudinal plane of the structure (8).
  • This opening (16) is intended to reduce the weight of the branch (4) by removing polymeric material. This opening (16) ensures a distribution of this weight, so as to optimize the positioning of the different centers of gravity and reaction of the branch (4). In addition, this opening (16) makes it possible to lighten the arc and to limit the propagation of vibrations. This opening (16) prevents twisting phenomena of the branch (4), when the latter is first energized by the rope (7), then under very high tension, when the archer band his bow (1).
  • This opening (16) ensures a better distribution of the polymer material, by creating two parallel blades, which avoids any heterogeneity of material and therefore any risk of premature wear leading to breakage of the branch (4). A bifurcated structure is thus obtained which has a better flexural modulus than a solid body. This opening (16) finally has an aesthetic role, improving the visual appearance and taper of the branch (4 and 6) and the arc (1) thus formed.
  • the invention relates more specifically to the design of the branches (4 and 6) which, in accordance with the invention, are made in a monolithic piece by injection.
  • the arc branches (4 and 6) thus have the same dimensions and the same geometry per set designed.
  • a complementary advantage is to have a single handle that avoids adaptation to branches of different design and power within the same family of arcs.
  • the material used for injection may be single or composite.
  • IXEF® and TORLON® marketed by SOLVAY
  • PEEK® sold by VICTREX and GRIVORY GV 5H marketed by EMS.
  • the material used having given very good results is an aromatic polyamide and more specifically a polyarylamide belonging to the IXEF® range of SOLVAY. With this material, no creep below a temperature substantially equal to 130 ° C has been observed. There is no moisture recovery.
  • This polymer is loaded with glass fibers. These reinforcing fibers are naturally oriented in the main direction of the branch thus improving the stiffening phenomenon.
  • the injection is performed in a single zone located at the proximal end (11). This makes it possible to better control the stresses during the injection and to avoid the appearance of zones of weakness, by orienting the structure of the polymeric material.
  • This single area may have multiple injection points.
  • the charge rate has been adapted according to the desired power. From the IXEF 1002 material at 12% by weight of glass fibers, up to IXEF 1032 at 60% by weight of glass fiber, blends are made to obtain a whole range of compound in steps of 5%.
