Definitions
- the invention relates to the field of sport, and more specifically to that of archery.
- the arc It relates more particularly to new arc structures of the recursive type, that is to say made up of two branches mounted at the ends of a central handle.
- a recurve bow consists of a handle that the archer takes in hand, and ends of which are removably mounted, two arms on which is stretched the rope.
- a first category concerns initiation arcs intended for beginners archery.
- Such arches have a handle which is very generally made of wood, and most often in glulam.
- Such bows which must be of reduced cost, have a simple and elementary form, and which is therefore not completely ergonomic.
- handles made of wood are relatively not very resistant to time, as well as fragile and brittle.
- the wooden handles are made from a block of material glued laminate, which is then roughly machined.
- the resulting volume is relatively high and therefore unattractive. Such a volume could not be excessively reduced, at the risk of weakening the structure of the arch. It is for example impossible to realize a window sufficiently open to allow proper positioning of the boom.
- initiation arches whose handle is made by the association of several parts of different materials, such as those described in the Patent EP 0 791 799.
- a handle is produced by the association of a shaped part simple, made of glued laminated wood, with plastic parts glued to the main piece of wood, and intended to ensure a good grip and the fastener branches supporting the rope.
- Such a solution if it turns out to be more aesthetic, on the other hand has the disadvantages of a composite structure, namely that the intrinsic mechanical properties of wood and plastics do not combine not, but on the contrary show a discontinuity of the efforts collected.
- the interface zone between wood and plastic is subject to strong constraints, and the junction does not resist the time and the very great efforts undergone when the arc is bandaged.
- a composite structure for a bow handle has also been described in document FR 2 673 276. More specifically, the solution proposed in this document consists in making the handle by overmolding with an external plastic material, a inner core made of a different plastic material.
- This composite assembly has obvious physical limitations. Indeed, such a solution has the same disadvantage than that mentioned for composite structures, namely a very poor resistance over time of the mechanical junction between the different plastics, taking into account the very significant constraints generated during the deformation of the arc, being able to induce zones of creep at the limits.
- a perfecting bow has greater rigidity than initiation arcs, and is generally made of metal alloys, by machining, forging, or even molding.
- the improvement arc handle thus produced has recesses for varying the weight distribution as well as the thicknesses of different zones depending on the desired mechanical characteristics. It is notably thanks to this possibility that the performance of an arc of improvement are greater than that of an initiation arc especially when it is made of wood.
- Such enhancement arcs nevertheless have multiple drawbacks and in particular a significant weight, as well as a high cost price.
- This cost price is particularly increased by the need to ensure the decoration of the metal by a exterior paint layer, requiring labor operations.
- the metal structure of the handle is the seat of phenomena of vibrations and resonance which disturbs the sensations of the archer and therefore his performances.
- One of the problems which the invention proposes to solve is that of adaptation of the geometry of the handle of the arch to the high stresses and forces undergone during different phases of archery. Another problem that we propose to solve the invention is that of adapting the geometry of the handle of an arc to multiples requirements for the arrow path as well as the positioning of the center of gravity and pivot point. Another problem which the invention proposes to solve is to allow the manufacture of a bow with very good technical characteristics, everything remaining compatible with cost ranges corresponding to the arcs initiation.
- the invention provides an arc whose handle is easily achievable and a cost price corresponding to that of an initiation arc, but which presents much better mechanical qualities than existing initiation arcs, and whose performances are at least equivalent to those of the so-called "advanced" arcs.
- the invention relates to a recurve type arc consisting of two branches mounted at the ends of a handle comprising a grip zone.
- This arc is characterized in that the handle is made of a structural part monolithic, produced in a single injection operation, and which has a single injection zone at one of its ends, in order to orient the structure plastic and thus avoid areas of fragility.
- the handle of a bow according to the invention is in one piece of a single piece made of a single material whose shape is determined by the mold injection.
- the handle can adopt very worked shapes, and particularly optimized in areas requiring it, while remaining at a cost of reduced manufacturing and high mechanical reliability, given its homogeneity.
- plastic Compared to wood, plastic has excellent properties of resistance to degradation by the usual climatic or atmospheric conditions in any region of the planet. It is also much more resistant to bumps and scratches.
- the handle has a single injection area located at one end of the handle. Although injection from one end requires injection pressure important for conveying the injected material to the opposite end, this arrangement allows better control of stresses during injection and avoids the appearance of fragile zones, orienting the structure of the plastic.
- This single zone can include several injection points.
- the plastic material constituting the handle contains glass and / or carbon fibers, intended to ensure better stiffness of the handle, while retaining good elasticity.
- the reinforcing fibers naturally orient themselves in the main direction of the handle thus improving the stiffening phenomenon.
- a gas supply is ensured by expansion of agents specific within the base material, or by collateral injection during the molding operation. This allows a flow of the stresses in the parts massive of the handle, as well as a regularity of the wall thicknesses.
- the rigidity of the handle is improved because the fragile areas are eliminated. We thus obtain a tubular structure which has a better flexural modulus than a solid body. Moreover, this arrangement makes it possible to lighten the arc and limit the propagation of vibrations.
- This cavity can optionally be then filled with a material such as elastomers loaded for example with metals. In this way, we ensure a depreciation part of the vibrations propagating in the arc when an arrow is released.
- the handle has a recessed area formed during the injection, and intended to receive an over-grip or grip at the level of the grip area.
- the invention relates to a recursive arc, that is to say as illustrated in the Figure 1, an arc consisting of several parts, namely a central handle (1), that the archer takes charge, and on which are mounted two branches (2, 3), extending towards up and down, and supporting the ends of the rope (4).
- the arms (2, 3) of a recurve bow are removably mounted on the handle (1) to allow the adaptation of their length and their rigidity to the morphology of the archer, and the evolution of his technical level. Incidentally this also allows limit the size of the arch and facilitate storage and transport.
- the invention relates more precisely to the design of the central handle (1) which, according to the invention, is produced in a monolithic part by injection. More specifically, such a handle (1) comprises in its upper part, a housing area (10) of the upper branch (2). Below this upper housing area (10) is finds the window (11) delimited laterally by a portion (12) of thinner thickness. The window (11) is bounded downwards by an area called "floor" (13), and substantially horizontal.
- This floor (13) is intended to receive various accessories, such as in particular a arrow rest (14) on which the arrow slides when the shot is fired.
- This gripping area (15) can possibly be covered with a material specific, chosen to ensure good comfort for the archer.
- the lower part of the handle also includes a second housing (17) intended to receive the lower branch (3) of the arch.
- the handle (1) is produced in a single step injection site using a single injection site.
- the injection point is located at one end of the handle, and advantageously at the lower end (6).
- the handle (1) has a cavity (18) present at the level of the grip area (15).
- This cavity (18) a few cubic centimeters in volume, imparts greater rigidity to the handle by limiting the thickness of its walls to the level of this massive area.
- the material used for injection can be single or composite. So, among some plastics found to be advantageous, we can find the VERTON MFX 40GV marketed by LNP, the CELESTRAN G40 H marketed by Hoechst, the NORYL GTX 820 marketed by Bayer, GRILAMID LKN 5H and GRIVORY GV 5H marketed by EMS.
- this plastic material includes glass or carbon fibers reinforcement. More specifically, these glass fibers have a length of the order of 10 millimeters. The quantity of fibers used in the various plastics is around 30 to 60% by volume.
- deflection values i.e. deformation of the handle when pulled by the rope, this measurement being made at the ends of the handle, that is to say at the level of the housings of the branches with respect to the axis of reference passing through the pivot point at rest.
- the arrow on a bow according to the invention is less than or equal to that measured on an equivalent arc in wood.
- the flexural modulus of the handle according to the invention may be less than that wood.
- the tensile modulus which is always higher than that of wood gives the handle a breaking strength at least three times greater than that of a wooden handle.
- the tensile modulus which remains higher than that of wood gives at the handle at least 10 to 20 times greater breaking strength.
- the handle very quickly absorbs the vibrations generated by the shot, which which improves the comfort of the archer as well as his performance.
- the arc handle conforms to the invention optimizes many parts of its geometry to increase it performances.
- the lower part of the window (11), inside which the arrow will be placed is limited laterally by a portion (12) whose thickness is reduced, much less than half the width of the handle, which allows the arrow body to be positioned in the plane longitudinal median (20) of the handle, opposite a wooden handle in which the vertical plane of the arrow rest is offset from the median plane to maintain resistance sufficient mechanical.
- the center of gravity (G) is on the defined line segment by the intersection of the vertical median plane of the handle and the horizontal reference plane passing through the pivot point.
- the thrust axis corresponding to the direction of the force exerted by the archer's hand on the handle, is included in the median plane of the branches, which reduces the arrow paradox.
- the geometry of the handle is therefore optimized according to the desired performance.
- the lower part and the window of the handle may have a housing or a thread (21, 23, 24) intended to accommodate vertical or lateral stabilizers whose influence contributes to improving the path.
- Such tapping can be easily achieved by integration inside the injection mold of different inserts of complementary shape.
- the placement of the arch branches is carried out in a housing provided for this purpose at the ends of the handle.
- the rear portion of the portion forming the boundary side window can be advantageously profiled on the one hand, limit the weight total of the handle, and on the other hand, ensure a distribution of this weight so as to optimize the positioning of the different centers of gravity and reaction.
