Definitions

  • the invention relates to the field of sliding sports and more particularly downhill skiing. It concerns more specifically a ski architecture more specifically dedicated to skiing by children.
  • the invention seeks to optimize different dimensional parameters of the ski to address the learning of sliding by young children, combining a certain ease with stability.
  • skis used by children are of course small.
  • the invention relates to the smallest ski sizes, typically less than 110 centimeters in length. Because of their low weight and inexperience, children need skis that have great flexibility and stability. Stability can be achieved by widening the skis to reduce the ability to swing from one edge to the other.
  • the skis for children are relatively flexible, to facilitate the bending, that is to say the curve of the ski to make a turn, bending which usually results in weight and acceleration.
  • the stiffness of a ski is defined by its structure, that is to say by the number and the mechanical properties of the internal reinforcements embedded in the ski, and the positioning of these reinforcements with respect to the neutral fiber, as well as by the dimensional properties of the board, that is, the thickness and width of the ski.
  • the stiffness is substantially proportional to the width of the upper reinforcement, and varies with the square of the distance of this reinforcement relative to the neutral fiber, corresponding substantially to the median thickness of the ski.
  • the solution of reducing the thickness of the ski is limited, since a minimum thickness must be respected to allow anchoring of the elements of the binding.
  • the ISO 8364 standard requires that the skis must have a sufficient thickness to allow holes of 7.5 millimeters deep for the establishment of fastening screws fasteners.
  • US-A-2001 0035630 discloses such a ski having at its zone of pad a region of lesser thickness.
  • the object of the invention is to provide a ski which has increased stability, and therefore has a greater width than existing skis, while maintaining a stiffness sufficiently low to allow the bending of the ski by a child. This compromise must also respect the minimum thickness conditions imposed by the standardization aspects relating to the installation of the fasteners.
  • the invention therefore relates to a short ski, less than 110 centimeters in length, intended for skiing by children.
  • this ski comprises, at its skid zone, a region of lesser thickness, limited at the front and at the rear by regions of maximum thickness, able to receive each the elements of a binding of security.
  • the ski has at the level of the pad a recessed area between the abutment and the heel of the binding.
  • This zone of lesser thickness makes it possible to reduce the stiffness of the ski at least in its central part, while remaining compatible with standardized requirements in terms of setting up the bindings.
  • the stiffness of the ski is characterized by a general flexibility that is significantly higher than that seen on children's skis produced to date.
  • the general flexibility is defined in a standardized way as being the arrow under deformation of a force of 20 decanewtons, applied to the upper surface of the ski, midway between two support points located respectively at the level of the lines of front and rear contact.
  • this general flexibility is between The p 3 H max 2 ⁇ 10 - 5 and The p 3 H max 2 ⁇ 2.
  • L p is the load length, defined between the front and rear contact lines
  • H max is the maximum thickness of the ski, both expressed in millimeters.
  • the stiffness is satisfactory when the difference in thickness between the region of lesser thickness forming the characteristic, and the maximum thickness H max is between 1 and 5 millimeters and preferably close to 1.5 millimeters.
  • the maximum thickness of the ski is understood from a structural point of view, that is to say taking into account the thickness of the zones that have a predominant influence on the overall stiffness of the ski.
  • this maximum thickness is calculated by disregarding any protuberances or protruding zones for essentially aesthetic purpose and without major influence on the stiffness of the board.
  • the maximum thickness of the ski (H max ) is advantageously between 10 and 14 millimeters, and is preferably in the vicinity of 11 millimeters.
  • the dimensions of the characteristic hollow zone are such that this region of lesser thickness extends over a length of between 80 and 200 millimeters.
  • the length of this zone is measured by the distance between the thickest points located directly in front of and behind the recessed zone.
  • the maximum thickness point closest to the hollow shall be taken into account.
  • the invention relates to skis for use by children, which therefore have a total length L t reduced, and less than 110 centimeters.
  • Such a ski (1) as illustrated in figure 1 has in its shoe region (2) a hollow region (3) of smaller thickness, delimited at the front and rear by zones (4, 5) of greater thickness. These zones (4, 5) are arranged to receive the abutment (6) and the heel (7) of the attachment, by means of screws (8) placed in holes (9) provided for this purpose.
  • the areas of greater thickness (4, 5) have a thickness H max which is between 10 and 14 millimeters and preferably close to 11 millimeters.
  • the zone of maximum thickness may extend over a certain fraction of the length of the ski, and in particular in the region that receives the elements of the binding.
  • these areas (4, 5) maximum thickness may include reinforcements (10, 11) to be traversed by the mounting screws (8) of the attachment to improve the anchoring thereof.
  • the region (3) between the two elements of the fastener (6, 7) has a reduced thickness, whose value H min is less than the maximum thickness value H max of 1 to 5 millimeters, and preferably 1, 5 millimeters.
  • the length L c of the recessed zone (3) is defined between the most forward point maximum thickness of the rear zone (5), and the rearmost point of maximum thickness of the front zone (4).
  • the slope fractures (14, 15) between the characteristic hollow zone (3) and the zones of greater thickness (4, 5) may be variable depending on the reinforcements included in the structure of the ski, and the constraints of manufacture and especially by molding.
  • the ski (1) has a general flexibility that is in a specific range, corresponding to skis much more flexible than the existing skis in equivalent ranges, while having a width l pad at the level of the pad which is instead higher and typically between 73 and 85 millimeters.
  • this flexibility Sg is measured in a standardized manner, by arranging the ski on two bearing points (20, 21), arranged at the level of the front and rear contact lines L CAV , L CAR .
  • the distance between these two front and rear contact lines is defined as the bearing length L P.
  • Halfway between these two points (20, 21), the ski receives a vertical force F which for children's skis is normalized to 20 decanewtons.
  • the flexibility Sg is defined as being the vertical displacement of the exercise point of the force F. According to the invention, this flexibility S g is between The p 3 H max 2 x 10 -5 and The p 3 H max 2 x 2.10 -5 in which the length and thickness are measured in millimeters.
  • This flexibility is to be compared to values of about 20 millimeters, corresponding to those measured on existing skis.
  • the characteristic hollow area it is possible to widen the ski to increase its stability.
  • We can thus as illustrated in the figure 1 define a heel width l heel of 83 mm, a width l pad of 75 mm, a width l spatula of 95 mm.
  • the ski according to the invention has the advantage of simultaneously having a stability and flexibility far superior to the existing ski, while complying with the requirements of normalizations.
