Description

The present invention relates to a dual connection device for modular-type electrical appliances, for example circuit-breakers, for the simultaneous connection of at least one conductor and a tooth of a bridging bar, respectively by means of a cage and screw assembly and spring blade quick connection system.

The combination of these two types of connector in such electrical devices is already known. So, in the referenced German utility model DE29916001 there is described a configuration in which a cage and screw connection device overcomes a quick-release system based on a lyre-shaped spring blade, which is located close to the attachment base of the modular apparatus at a standardized rail. Similarly, the referenced European patent application EP1028489 discloses a structure in which the cage / screw assembly is located close to the fixing flange and surmounted by a spring blade plug-in system, said blade cooperating with a terminal also integrated in the cage. In this case, the problem that seeks to solve the invention is to allow access to the screw despite the existence of the quick-plug system that overcomes it.

Finally, the document DE-2,308,518 discloses a dual connection terminal block for connecting, on two opposite faces in the configurations described, conductors to ensure their electrical connection.

These configurations, using the same types of connector as the present invention, however, do not have the features to solve the particular problem posed in the context of said invention. This concerns the implementation of such a dual connection structure in a small space, the smallness of which offers little freedom for the positioning of the connectors.

The case is particularly present in phase-neutral circuit breakers, because the connection means are shifted therefrom for the phase and for the neutral, leading to a much smaller installation volume for the means arranged closest to the front of the product. . The offset results in particular from the fact that the bridging bars must necessarily be shifted to be installed. The choice of their level of implantation, which is also called the level of bridging of the product, is not free, especially since it should also be compatible with other products in the range, likely to be fixed on the same standard rail, and therefore connected via the same bridging bars.

In other words, the bridging level being imposed, we find ourselves having to implement in a limited volume by said level on the one hand, and the front of the product on the other hand, a double connection system, knowing that the positioning of the facade is also not modifiable to allow the installation of the plastron in the cabinet.

To complete the constraints to be taken into account, it should be noted again that the cage connectors and screws, whose function is to allow feeding or transplanting, are therefore located closer to the facade so that the manipulations made by the operator are not hindered by bridging bars that would be, in the event of reverse positioning, interposed between them and the facade. However, the safety rules require protection of live parts, in this case the screw head, which requires that it is sufficiently embedded inside the housing. A portion of the volume is therefore reserved for this purpose.

Finally, on the side where the connecting means are closest to the facade, the available volume does not allow the implementation of the configurations of the aforementioned prior art. The invention therefore proposes a new structure, which disregards existing models, and allows dual implantation without compromising the proper electrical operation.

It is expected that the blade spring of the quick connection system cooperates with the cage of the traditional cage / screw connector so that the tooth of the bridging bar, when plugged in, is guided in contact with or in the immediate vicinity of the outer surface of the wall of the cage opposite to the wall which receives the screw.

In other words, the management of the volume is optimized so that the two connecting members are contiguous to one another, in a form that performs a dual mechanical and electrical function, ensuring on the one hand guiding of the tooth and on the other hand the distribution of the current from one to the other.

Thus, according to one invention, it is expected that the leaf spring forms a loop surrounding said wall, which is actually the one that is closest to the sole, the opening of the loop then being oriented parallel to and substantially in the extension of the insertion opening of the cage.

In all cases, the opening of the loop must be located outside the cage, but inside the housing.

The particular shape given to the loop also allows it to provide a dual function, both electrical and mechanical. In the mechanical register, this loop must allow the insertion and retention of a tooth of a bridging comb, without any effort necessarily being transmitted to the cage.

It comprises in particular end sections flaring towards the opening of the housing and narrowing towards the opening of the loop. Insertion and then maintenance are only possible thanks to the elasticity of the loop, combined with the particular shape given to the said ends, which facilitate the guide to the insertion and therefore constitute an important part of the loop.

The shape of the loop is not separable from that of the cage, these elements to be further designed in connection with the housing. To ensure correct and complete plugging of the bridging bars, it is necessary that the entire loop is located within the volume of the housing. To allow correct positioning of the end sections, given their function and their proximity to the lower part of the cage, the latter preferably undergoes a modification.

Thus, at least the wall of the cage opposite that which receives the screw is preferably reduced at the surface, on the insertion side of the conductors, to clear space for this purpose.

On an electrical plane, the loop shape allows a double contact on the tooth of the bridging comb that is plugged into it. This double contact allows the use of a reduced section for the spring blade, calculated to convey a part of the maximum intensity of the current carried by the conductor or conductors connected to the cage and screw assembly.

The loop shape actually allows a material gain, and therefore space, which however requires the existence of the electrical loopback.

In this configuration, the portion of the loop disposed inside the cage serves as a terminal to the latter, contributing to the optimization of the dual connection.

According to one possibility, the electrical connection with the functional core of the electrical apparatus is integral with the spring blade. More specifically, this connection can be provided in one piece with the leaf spring, and develop from a median portion of the loop located opposite its opening.

The invention also has a variant which consists of a configuration in which the leaf spring is fixed to a support secured to the cage so that its free end is pressed against the outer surface of the wall of the cage opposite the wall who receives the screw. The blade is used in this case to press the tooth of the bridging bar against the cage, which must then be conductive.

Preferably, said support is constituted L-shaped extending one of the side walls of the cage and whose base, on which is fixed the leaf spring is parallel to the wall against which is plated its free end.

In other words, said variant can be considered as the superposition of two cages, the screw cage and a truncated cage supporting the blade spring. In this case, and unlike the previous configuration, the leaf spring does not need to be conductive. This results in greater flexibility in the choice of spring blade material, which is also generally less expensive than in a conductive version.

  • la figure 1 est une vue en perspective de la première variante selon l'invention ;
The invention will now be described in more detail, with reference to the figures, for which:
  • the figure 1 is a perspective view of the first variant according to the invention;
  • the figure 2 represents a portion of a circuit breaker provided with a double connection device according to the invention; and
  • the figure 3 shows a second variant of double connector, not forming part of the invention.

With reference to the figure 1 , the double connection device according to the invention consists, in the upper part, of a traditional cage mechanism (1) and screw (2) to which is added a quick connection system spring leaf shaped loop (3) . The direction and direction of insertion of the conductors on the one hand, and the teeth of the connecting bars on the other hand, are respectively indicated by the arrows A and B. The operation of the cage connector (1) and screws (2) being classic, it is not necessary to dwell on it.

At its opening (4), the loop (3) has end sections forming a slight flare, which allows the introduction of a bridging bar tooth in good conditions. Opposite the opening (4), the leaf spring (3) in the form of a loop comprises a terminal (5) for connection with the functional core of an electrical modular apparatus comprising the double connection device of the invention . The cage (1) is truncated at the bottom to allow integration of the flared end sections of the loop in the housing.

The apparatus is a circuit breaker, and the terminal (5) is then connected to the coil (6) of a magnetic subassembly. It can be noted the proximity of the conductor (s) (7) inserted in the cage (1) and teeth (8) of the bridging bar (9), in the plugged position in the spring blade (3). This proximity is explained by the constraints to be respected, and has advantages in terms of electricity. For the record, it is not possible to have the spring blade (3) closer to the sole, to respect the level of bridging. It is also not possible to reassemble the cage (1) because, for security reasons, the screw head (2) must be located at a distance from the front (F) of the housing (B). The standards stipulate that users can not have access to live parts. Finally, because of the plastron that is installed in the cabinets, there can be no question of changing the profile of the housing (B), including moving the front (F).

This is the reason why this superposition of two different connection means, the cage (1) and screw (2) on the one hand, and the spring blade (3) on the other hand, must be arranged as close to the one of the other.

In the configuration of figures 1 and 2 the spring blade (3) is, of course, conductive. This is not the case in the configuration of the figure 3 in which the leaf spring (13) has a purely mechanical function, flatten the tooth (8) of the bridging bar (9) (inserted in the direction of the arrow B) in contact with the bottom wall (10) of the cage (1). The transmission of the electric current is then through said wall (10). The support on which is fixed the spring blade (13) consists of a wall (12) forming, with the extension (11) of one of the side walls of the cage (1), an extension L of the latter. This is in fact a double cage configuration, the lower cage formed walls (11, 12) not necessarily complemented by a side wall facing the side (11).

The above description relates to only one example which can not be considered exhaustive of the invention. On the contrary, it encompasses all form and configuration variants that are covered by the subject matter of the claims.
