Description

The invention relates to a pipe connection between a pipe end of a connecting pipe and a connecting piece of a collecting tank of a heat exchanger according to the preamble of claim 1.

Pipe connections, ie so-called connectors were known from DE-A 35 17 488 and DE-A 44 03 402. DE '488 relates to a radiator for motor vehicles with a plastic water tank, which has a connection piece for receiving a pipe end of a connecting pipe for the radiator. The connecting tube has a collar in the form of a circumferential bead, is inserted into the connecting piece and held by a hairpin-shaped clamp form-fitting manner in the connecting piece, wherein the sealing takes place via an elastomeric sealing ring. This known connector is designed for plastic water tanks and has the disadvantage that the connection pipe with an additional, losable part, namely the securing clip in the connection piece must be kept. By DE '402, a plug-in pipe connection for a brazed radiator was known, wherein a connection piece is soldered as an additional part in a metallic collection box of the radiator. Incidentally, this connector is similar to the previously described designed, ie the pipe end also has a collar, which is the positive locking of the connection pipe by means of a securing clip is used. The sealing of the pipe end also takes place via an elastomeric sealing ring. Again, there is the disadvantage that as an additional part of a securing clip is needed, which also has the disadvantage that the connection piece must be designed as an additional part of the collection box and connected to this.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a pipe connection of the type mentioned, which is easy to manufacture, consists of as few parts and in particular for metallic water tanks is used.

The solution to this problem arises from the features of claim 1. It is envisaged that the pipe end of the connection pipe is secured by a bayonet lock in the connection piece of the collecting tank. A bayonet closure is to be understood as meaning a plug-in rotary connection known per se, in which the pipe end is first inserted into the connecting piece and then twisted to achieve a form-locking securing. This type of connection, which in principle - apart from the sealing ring - only consists of two parts, thus locks itself. This has the advantage that on a securing clip, d. H. An additional, loseable part, can be dispensed with. The installation of the connection pipe is done only by inserting and twisting the pipe end. Such a pipe connection is known from DE-A-4 445 091.

According to the invention, the locking means of the bayonet lock consist of latching noses, which are arranged at the open end of the pipe end and engage behind a locking surface of the connecting piece. For passing the locking lugs through the connecting piece, this has longitudinal grooves which are adapted to the locking lugs. This is a simple insertion of the pipe end in the connecting piece with subsequent twisting and locking possible. The locking surface on the connecting piece is advantageously formed by an end face which is engaged behind by the latching lugs.

In a further embodiment of the invention, an abutment on the connecting piece is provided for the positive securing of the pipe end, on which rests the bead or the collar of the pipe end. The pipe end is thus supported by means of the bead in one direction from the collection box and is held in the other direction by the locking lugs. This ensures a positive fit in both directions of the pipe axis.

In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the latching noses are formed from the tube wall of the pipe end, preferably by a shearing and stamping process, in the region of the end face of the pipe end. This gives a short-lasting and easy to produce pipe connection.

In a further embodiment of the invention, the sealing ring, which seals the pipe end against the connecting piece, arranged between the outer seat or abutment and the longitudinal grooves. For a secure sealing of the connector is achieved because the bayonet connection is disposed within the sealing ring.

In a further embodiment of the invention, the connection piece is inwards, d. H. into the collection box. This results in a space-saving design for the collection box and for the entire heat exchanger, which usually has two connecting pieces, d. H. for an inlet connection pipe and for a drain connection pipe.

According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the collecting box is made of a metallic material, in particular an aluminum alloy and is preferably formed as a deep-drawn part. Thus, the pipe connection of the invention can also be used for all-aluminum heat exchangers, especially radiators for motor vehicles, both for mechanically joined radiators - as described in the earlier application of the applicant (internal reference: 02 -BF-12) - or for soldered Radiator.

Fig. 2) auf der Stirn- bzw. Verriegelungsflache 22 (vgl. Fig. 8 shows the same connection as previously shown in Figures 6 and 7 in its locking position: the locking lugs 5, 6 are compared with the longitudinal grooves 18, 19 twisted and lie with its inner boundary surface (shear surface) 8 (see Fig .. 2) the front or locking surface 22 (see Fig. 5): thus, the pipe end 2 is positively secured in an axial direction.

Fig. 9 shows the connection of the connecting pipe 1 with pipe end 2 and connecting piece 10 (11) in a longitudinal section. In the expanded portion 20 of the connecting piece 10, a sealing ring 23 is arranged, which seals the pipe end 2 against the connecting piece 10. The collar 3 of the pipe end 2 rests on the conically formed seat 21 (see FIG. 5), ie, the shape of the collar, and thus fixes the connection pipe 1 in the direction of the pipe axis a downwards. On the other hand, engages behind the locking lug 5 (the other is not shown), the end face 22 and thus fixes the connection pipe 1 in the other direction of the tube axis a. Thus, a fixed bearing is formed, ie, the pipe end 2 is fixed in both axial directions.

Fig. 10 shows a modified embodiment of a pipe connection 24 between a pipe end 25 and a connecting piece 26. In this case, the pipe end 25 - in an analogous manner as in the previous embodiment - three evenly distributed over the circumference locking lugs 27, while in the connecting piece 26 three Longitudinal grooves 28 are arranged, which allow a passage of the locking lugs 27.
