Description

The invention relates to a folding machine according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

Such a folding machine is usually used for producing diverse, complex printed products, since it is able to produce mutually perpendicular fold breaks. The two Schwertfalzwerken is usually preceded by a pocket folder, which initially performs one or more parallel folds of a bow. Then follow the two sword folders. The first knife folds the sheet perpendicular to the folds in the pocket folder. The second blade folder folds the sheet perpendicular to the folds of the first knife folder or parallel to the folds of the pocket folder.

In the known generic folding machines the Taschenfalzwerke, and the two Schwertfalzwerke are rigid and mutually immovable, with possibly a knife shaft is mounted on the first sword folder. For this reason, it is necessary to set the sheet stop of the first sword folder depending on the sheet length so that the center of the sheet is always equal to the fold line of the second blade folder. When folding short sheets, therefore, the trailing sheet edge of the incoming sheet is in the sheet running direction to the rear edge of the folding blade. The sheet path is therefore relatively long, whereby the operating speed of the folding machine is reduced. In addition, it is not possible due to the rigid arrangement of the two Schwertfalzwerke each other to perform different eccentric folds in the second blade folder.

The FR 1 207 587 A describes a folding machine with the features of the preamble of claim 1, wherein neither of the two folders is a knife shaft downstream.

The invention has for its object to provide a versatile folding machine with high working speed with structurally simple means.

Eine vorteilhafte Weiterbildung der erfindungsgemäßen Falzmaschine ist Gegenstand des Patentanspruchs 2.This object is achieved by a folding machine with the features of claim 1. An advantageous development of the folding machine according to the invention is the subject of claim 2.

The fact that the second sword folder can be moved relative to the first sword folder, the spectrum of possible folding patterns of the folding machine can be extended. For example, eccentric folds, such as a winding fold or zig-zag fold, may be produced in the second knife folder.

In addition, the power potential of a folding machine can be fully exploited by the possibility of shifting the second sword folder. This is the case when an incoming from a pocket folder arc runs only so far under the first folding blade until the trailing edge of the first folding blade can detect the trailing edge of the sheet in the fold. If the sheet continued to run under the first folding blade, the time required for the additional travel would have to be included for a folding cycle. In the folding machine according to the invention, therefore, the sheet to be folded is moved only so far under the first folding blade to optimize the folding speed until the trailing edge of the first folding blade and the trailing edge of the sheet are one above the other. The fold line of the second folding blade is then brought by the process of the second sword folder in alignment to the center of the sheet.

Since the first sword folding a knife shaft pair is arranged downstream, which is mounted in the second sword folder, it is ensured that a set on the sword center of the second folding blade cutting tool on the knife shaft pair always remains exactly to the sword line. If the pair of knife shafts were not stored in the second blade folder, but as usual in the first blade folder, the blade line and the blade line would move relative to each other during the second heavy folder process and the blades would have to be manually corrected for the travel distance.

In the preferred embodiment, the second sword folder is moved out into a service position from the folding machine, in which the blade shafts are freely accessible. As a result, an installation or removal of heavy knife shafts is facilitated.

The in the Fig. 1 to 5 Folding machine 10 shown has a first blade folder 12, which is arranged in the sheet running direction BL a pocket folder (not shown). An incoming from the Taschenfalzwerk sheet 20 comes on a sheet support device (not shown) in a sheet support plane BE1 to lie, where he with its leading edge 18 abuts a sheet stop 18 arranged transversely to the direction of sheet travel BL, which is adjustable in sheet travel direction BL. Above the sheet support plane BE1 is located in a known manner a folding blade 16 which performs a vertical lifting movement to beat the sheet 20 between two provided below the sheet support plane BE1 folding rollers (not shown). After passing through the folding rollers, the sheet is conveyed perpendicularly to the sheet running direction BL from the first blade folder 12 through a sheet delivery device 36 to a second blade folder 14, which is the first sword folding unit 12 downstream. As it is in the Fig. 1 and 2 is shown schematically, the sheet 20 comes as a folded sheet 22 in the sheet support plane BE2 a second sheet support device (not shown) of the second sword folder 14 to lie. Above the sheet support plane BE2 a second folding blade 24 is arranged, the sword line is perpendicular to the sword line of the first folding blade 16. Below the second folding blade 24, a folding roller pair 26 is arranged, in which the folded sheet 22 is hammered by the folding blade 24. Below the Falzwalzenpaares 26 more folding rollers 28 are provided for conveying the sheet 22 from the second blade folder 14. As it is in the Fig. 1 and 2 can be seen, the second blade folder 14 is disposed in a frame 30, on the underside guides 32 are provided which run on guide rails 34 which are perpendicular to the sword line of the second folding blade 24, that is perpendicular to the sheet discharge direction of the first sheet delivery device 36 of first sword folder 12 expiring bow are arranged.

Due to the guides 32 and the guide rails 34, the second blade folder 14 can be moved horizontally perpendicular to the sheet discharge direction, as indicated by the double arrow DP.

The Fig. 1 shows the positions of the second blade folder 14 for folding a relatively short sheet 20. For this purpose, the sheet stop 18 is set so that the trailing edge of the sheet 20 and the trailing edge of the folding blade 16 are superimposed. The second sword folder 14 is moved so that the sword line SL of the second folding blade 24 is at the level of the arc center BM of the sheet 20. This setting of the sheet stopper 18 and the second blade folder 14 makes it possible that the sheet 20 is retracted only so far in the first blade folder 12, that its entire length can be acted upon by the folding blade 16. This is the case when the trailing edge of the first folding blade 16 and the trailing edge of the sheet 20 are superimposed.

Fig. 2 shows the setting of the sheet stop 18 of the second blade folder 14 for the processing of a long sheet 20. Again, the sheet stop 18 is set so that the trailing edge of the sheet 20 is equal to the rear edge of the first folding blade 16. The second blade folder 14 is moved so that the sword line SL coincides with the arc center BM.

In the Fig. 3 to 5 For the sake of clarity, only elements below the sheet support plane BE1 and BE2 are shown. As it is in the Fig. 3 and 5 can be seen, two guide rails 34a, 34b are arranged parallel to and at a distance from each other, on which the frame 30 of the second sword folder 14 by means of the guides 32 is guided. In the second sword folder 14 of the sheet delivery device 36 opposite a pair of knife shafts 38 is mounted in the frame 30. On the knife shafts of the knife shaft pair 38 cutting or perforating tools are mounted in a known manner. An expiring from the first sword folder 12 sheet 22 is passed between the blade shafts of the pair of knife shafts 38 before it is placed on the sheet support device (not shown) of the second blade folder 14. As it is in Fig. 5 is shown, the second sword folder 14 along the guide rails 34a, 34b so far from the folding machine 10 are moved until the pair of knife shafts 38 is accessible from the outside. If the sword folder 14 is in this service position, an easy installation or removal of the cutter shaft pair 38 from the frame 30 is possible.

The method of the second sword folder 14 along the guide rails 34a, 34b can be realized manually or by motor via known guide or drive elements.
