Definitions
- the present invention relates to a web-fed rotary printing press according to the preamble of claim 1 (FR-A-2 588 253).
- Book printing and calendar printing have processing, and in particular folding, multi-layer material webs in common with newspaper printing. However, they differ from this in that the individual layers must be guided without creases and above all without mutual movement during the movement over the individual folding devices up to the entry into the cutting unit, so that special cuts, such as register cutouts for alphabetical, monthly and other identifications, can be attached to fit. Furthermore, book printing and calendar printing differ from newspaper printing by the variety of formats and types of paper and the comparatively small number of pieces per format to be produced.
- a folding device is known from German publication DE 25 12 368, which has two longitudinal folding devices.
- a device for attaching a cross section and a transverse fold and for collecting is arranged between the two longitudinal folding devices.
- This device is variable with regard to the format size to be achieved and with regard to the number of pages to be processed.
- the transverse folding device brings about a bend in the material web and - and when collecting - a bend in the folded printed product - which results in a mutual displacement of the individual layers of the printed product.
- a folding device is known from European patent EP 0 019 202 which, in addition to other folding options, can also produce a double parallel fold in the form of a double transverse fold.
- the desired printed product could be obtained with this device, but the problem of the mutual displacement of the layers would not be solved.
- a longitudinal folding device which has a folding former which is displaceable in the direction of the former inclination.
- This device is suitable for the production of various printed product formats and has the advantage that the angle at which the printing material web, which is referred to as the material web there, wraps around the funnel inlet roller upstream of the former, remains constant when the funnel is displaced, and that the tensile conditions on the material web do not change .
- it has the disadvantage of requiring a large amount of space, particularly when two such longitudinal folding devices are arranged one behind the other, as would be required to produce a double parallel fold.
- the object of the invention is to design a web-fed rotary printing press in terms of its folding device with simple constructional means so that different types of printing material webs, such as paper of different grammage and different volume, can be processed into printed products of different formats, and that in particular further processing in downstream units such as for example punching and perforating tools, can be made to fit.
- FIG. 1 shows a schematic representation of an embodiment of a web-fed rotary printing press according to the invention.
- a paper web trimming device connects to the printing unit 1, which contains the required number of printing units. This device is used for edge trimming of the paper webs 3 and 4 and has motor-driven cutting knives 5 and 6.
- the unit 7 adjoining in the direction of web travel serves to regulate the cutting register of the individual paper webs and thus for the exact superimposition of the two paper webs 3 and 4 to form a multi-layer paper web 8. Since the application of the present invention is not limited to the simultaneous processing of two paper webs and also does not depend on the exact number of webs to be brought together, in the following only the multi-layer paper web 8, which in the present application example is therefore two-layer, will be considered.
- the paper web 8 is a height-adjustable first longitudinal folding device 9 and an adjustable Roll pair 10 fed a non-adjustable second longitudinal folding device 11.
- the two longitudinal folding devices 9 and 11 are arranged rotated by 90 ° with respect to one another.
- the thus twice longitudinally folded paper web 8 is then successively a first pulling device 12, a knock-off device 13 provided for securing the downstream units, an exchangeable cassette device 14, a second pulling device 15, a cross cutting device 16, a belt delivery 17 for accelerating the printed products, a stabilizer device 18 and one speed-variable sheet delivery 19 supplied and from there to a further processing device 20 which is not essential to the present invention and is therefore not described here.
- FIG. 2 shows a schematic representation of the structure of the first longitudinal folding device 9.
- the paper web 8 coming from the device 7 which serves to regulate the cutting register is fed via an inlet roller 21 to a first former 22 with a replaceable former nose (not shown).
- An air-flushed rod 23 is attached to the former 22 on the paper feed side in order to reduce the friction of the paper web 8 at the inlet of the former and so to improve the uniformity of the drawing conditions on the paper web 8.
- a paper guide roller which is also to be attached to the former 22, can also be provided.
- the folding former 22 is supported by means of connecting elements 25 on four height-adjustable spindle bearings, of which only the two spindle bearings 26 and 27 are visible here.
- One of the four spindle bearings is adjusted by means of a threaded spindle 28 mounted on the machine frame, which is driven by a motor drive 29.
- the other three spindle bearings are carried on racks 30 and 31 in a manner known per se.
- the chain wheels 32 arranged at the inlet end of the former 22 and the chain wheels 33 arranged at the outlet end of the former 22 are each connected by a spindle 34 or 35 provided with a toothing.
- the spindles 34 and 35 are with the racks 30 and 31 in Intervention.
- the sprockets 32 and 33 arranged on the same side of the former 22 are connected to one another via chains 36. In this way it is achieved that the former 22 is shifted parallel to itself when the height setting is changed.
- a second setting of the former that can be achieved in this way, it is shown in dash-dot lines as a former 22 ′ with the air-flushed rod 23 ′.
- the threaded spindle 28 can be adjusted by means of a motor drive 29.
- the height adjustment of the former 22 can be automated.
- the setting can also be done by means of a handwheel or in any other appropriate way.
- the height adjustment of the first former 22 is such that the folded edge 37 of the paper web 8 which has already been folded is displaced up or down by as much as it corresponds to half the difference in the paper web widths of the previously processed and now to be processed paper web. In this way it is achieved that the center of the paper web 8, once marked with 38 in FIG. 3, always runs in the same plane, irrespective of the format to be produced, in the plane that runs horizontally between the pair of former 43 that follow the second former. In the second setting example of the former 22 'explained above, this results in the new position marked 37' for the folded edge.
- the paper web 8 which is guided over the folding former 22 and thus folded, is guided by the folding former 22 between the two rollers of the first former discharge roller pair 10, designated 101 and 102 in FIG. 4, and then passed on to the non-adjustable second longitudinal folding device 11, on which the paper web 8 has a second one Time is folded lengthways.
- the essential elements of the second longitudinal folding device 11 can be seen from FIG. 3. These are a second former feed roller 39, a second folding former 40 and a second pair of former outlet rollers 41.
- the former outlet roller pair 41 is adjustable in accordance with the paper web 8 to be processed.
- the arrangement of the second longitudinal folding device 11 is determined by two requirements: On the one hand, the longitudinal folding device 11, viewed in the direction of paper travel, must be rotated 90 ° to the right or to the left relative to the former 22 so that the folded paper web 8 of the second former inlet roller 39 does not twist can be supplied. On the other hand, the longitudinal folding device 11 must be arranged in such a way that the paper web 8 is fed to the downstream unit, here the pulling device 12, without twisting and without lateral offset. This is particularly important since the paper web 8 can only be transported without creases and without the risk of the layers being pushed against one another.
- first pair of former discharge rollers 10 of the first longitudinal folding device 9 is not to be attached to this, but to the frame of the second longitudinal folding device 11.
- This also explains the length of the rollers of the pair of funnel outlet roller 10 of the first longitudinal folding device 9 and of the funnel inlet roller 39 of the second longitudinal folding device 11, which is designed to be half the maximum width of the material webs to be processed.
- the longitudinal folding devices 9 and 11 are arranged such that the paper web 8, which is guided perpendicularly to the plane of the drawing and comes out of the unit 7 from below, after passing through the inlet roller pair 21 with a more or less greatly reduced pitch on the air-circulated, likewise rod 23 which is perpendicular to the plane of the drawing and is folded down by the former 22.
- the folded edge 37 forms the upper edge of the paper web 8 now running in the plane of the drawing.
- the second longitudinal fold is then attached in such a way that the new folding edge 42 is at the front as seen by the viewer, that is to say it points toward the operating side of the printing press.
- the second longitudinal folding device 11 can also be arranged rotated 90 ° to the left relative to the first longitudinal folding device 9.
- the second longitudinal fold is attached in such a way that the new fold edge 42 lies at the rear as viewed by the viewer, that is to say points toward the drive side of the printing press.
- FIGS. 4 and 5 each show a top view of the two arrangements of the longitudinal folding devices 9 and 11 described above with the resultant course of the paper web 8 and the respective position of the folding edge.
- the fold edge also serves as the reference edge for the subsequent processing steps. Therefore, the choice for one or the other arrangement of the two longitudinal folding devices is made exclusively on the basis of the spatial arrangement of the further processing device 20 in relation to the sheet delivery 13.
- the second longitudinal fold is attached in such a way that the folded edge 42, as seen by the viewer, is optionally at the front or rear, that is to say either points to the operating side or to the drive side of the printing press.
- the former feed roller 39 is not arranged on the same side of the paper web 8 as the folding former 40, contrary to the practice previously practiced. In this way, the web tension to be produced in front of the former 40 is produced with a single roller. In addition to a short construction, this also means that the paper web 8 is deflected only slightly and only once.
- the exchangeable cassette device 14 is designed in such a way that it can accommodate different tool cassettes designed according to the principle of insertion technology, so as to increase the production variety of the printing press.
- a punching device and a perforating device may be mentioned here as an example of two such inserts or exchangeable cassettes.
- FIG. 6 shows the essential elements of the adjustable belt delivery 17 in a highly schematic plan view.
- the purpose of the adjustability of the belt delivery 17 is to be able to guide the printed products fed by the cross-cutting device 16 reliably and uniformly over the entire width, regardless of the generated format.
- the belt delivery 17 has a pair of non-adjustable Conveyor belts 43 and three pairs of adjustable conveyor belts 44, 45 and 46. Each of these pairs consists of an upper band and a lower band. For the sake of clarity, FIG. 6 shows only the upper belts of the conveyor belt pairs 43 to 46.
- the belt delivery 17 each has at least two belt rollers 47 and 48 for driving and guiding the upper and lower belts, as well as a non-adjustable product side guide element 49 and an adjustable product side guide element 50. Furthermore, the belt delivery 17 has, as the means required for the adjustment, a spindle 51 provided with a thread or a worm gear with a handwheel 52 and the band guide rollers 53 receiving the spindle 51 and provided with a suitable internal thread or inner worm gear. Rotation of the handwheel 52 and thus the spindle 51 causes a displacement of the belt guide rollers 53 along the axis of the spindle 51 and a corresponding displacement of the product side guide element 50.
- the adjustment of the conveyor belts 44 to 46 takes place in such a way that the printed products, depending on the width, total two, three or four pairs of conveyor belts.
- the conveyor belt pairs 43 to 46 are driven in a manner known per se by means of a drive train derived from the main drive of the printing press.
- the stabilizer device 18 arranged downstream of the belt delivery 17 has in the region of the sheet transfer from the belt delivery 17 to the sheet delivery 19 on a driven shaft at least one cam 181 which is driven at the speed of the belt delivery 17.
- the purpose of this device is to ensure, in particular with lighter papers and at higher speeds, that each printed product pushes quickly and safely and thus evenly onto the previous printed product, thus creating the uniform stream of flakes required for proper further processing of the printed products.
- the sheet delivery 19 has a non-adjustable and three adjustable conveyor belt pairs 54 to 57, each of which runs over at least two belt rollers 61 and 62, and its structure is essentially the same as the structure of the belt delivery 17. The same also applies to the adjustment of the conveyor belts for the tape guide rollers 58 are provided. Therefore, a separate description of the sheet delivery 19 is omitted.
- the conveyor belt pairs 54 to 57 of the sheet delivery 19 are driven by a tachometer-controlled electric motor and that the belt speed of the sheet delivery 19 is different from that of the belt delivery 17.
- the belt speed of the sheet delivery 19 is variable in such a way that an increase in speed causes an increase in scale spacing and a decrease in this speed causes a reduction in scale spacing.
- an electronic control ensures that the scale distance always remains the same when the speed of the paper web 8 changes.
- a perforating device can be placed in front of the first longitudinal folding device 9, which perforation creates a perforation along the center line of the paper web 9.
- Such a measure facilitates folding, in particular in the case of multilayer paper webs made of thicker or heavier paper, and creates a preferred route for the remaining air to be pressed out of the spaces between the individual paper layers during folding.

Description
The present invention relates to a web-fed rotary printing press according to the preamble of claim 1 (FR-A-2 588 253).
Book printing and calendar printing have processing, and in particular folding, multi-layer material webs in common with newspaper printing. However, they differ from this in that the individual layers must be guided without creases and above all without mutual movement during the movement over the individual folding devices up to the entry into the cutting unit, so that special cuts, such as register cutouts for alphabetical, monthly and other identifications, can be attached to fit. A folding device is known from
A folding device is known from European patent EP 0 019 202 which, in addition to other folding options, can also produce a double parallel fold in the form of a double transverse fold. In principle, the desired printed product could be obtained with this device, but the problem of the mutual displacement of the layers would not be solved.
From the
The object of the invention is to design a web-fed rotary printing press in terms of its folding device with simple constructional means so that different types of printing material webs, such as paper of different grammage and different volume, can be processed into printed products of different formats, and that in particular further processing in downstream units such as for example punching and perforating tools, can be made to fit.
This object is achieved by a web-fed rotary printing press with the features of patent claim 1. Advantageous developments of the invention are the subject of dependent claims.

Figure 1 shows a schematic representation of an embodiment of a web-fed rotary printing press according to the invention. A paper web trimming device connects to the printing unit 1, which contains the required number of printing units. This device is used for edge trimming of the
31 in Eingriff.
In the present exemplary embodiment, the threaded
The height adjustment of the first former 22 is such that the folded
The
The essential elements of the second
For the reasons for the arrangement of the two
In the embodiment shown in Figure 1, the
In a modification of the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the second
As a further alternative, there is an essentially vertical arrangement of the two
The possibility of arranging at least the
As can further be seen from FIGS. 4 and 5, the
After passing through the second
The
The
To further improve the results that can be achieved with a printing press according to the present application, a perforating device can be placed in front of the first
