Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for producing signs according to the preamble of claim 1 and a sign according to the preamble of claim 12.
  • the method is particularly suitable for the production of license plates.
  • License plates are usually produced from a sheet metal blank that has a reflective surface, wherein the alphanumeric characters are stamped into the sheet metal blank, which are assigned to the respective vehicle by the registration office.
  • the raised alphanumeric characters are then coated with black paint, similar to a printing process, so that the characters become visible against the reflective background.
  • a light source is required which is directed at the corresponding sign so that the sign can reflect the incident light rays.
  • electroluminescent coatings are known in which electrons are accelerated and raised into excited states by applying an electric field. On the subsequent return to the basic state, the absorbed energy is partially emitted in the form of light quanta, so that an active light source is formed.
  • the object of the invention is to provide a method for producing signs, in particular motor vehicle signs and motor vehicle signs as such, which can be produced in a manner that is as counterfeit-proof and inexpensive as possible.
  • this object is achieved by a method having the features of claim 1 and a shield having the features of claim 12.
  • a permanent Fastening on a self-illuminating background causes the letters and numbers to have a plastic appearance due to the coating with polyurethane.
  • the light-absorbing design of the characters and / or symbols causes them to stand out against the self-illuminating background, which is brought about by the application of an electroluminescent layer on the base, so that the characters and / or symbols are clearly recognizable. Due to the dissolving of the plastic by the adhesive or during the gluing process, in addition to permanent attachment of the characters on the base of the label, it is difficult to forge the labels, so that they are particularly suitable for the labeling of machines and vehicles.
  • the symbols and the base are flexible and advantageously made of acrylic.
  • the signs can thus easily adapt to a curved sign and are not as stiff as conventional, embossed metal signs, which gain stiffness through embossing.
  • the characters are advantageously produced from a large sheet of material by means of a separation process, for example a laser, a punch or other suitable processes, in order to be able to produce different sizes and any type of font for the characters.
  • the characters are advantageously stuck on with a fast-curing adhesive, in particular a UV-activated adhesive, in order to rule out manipulation after the characters have been applied.
  • a fast-curing adhesive in particular a UV-activated adhesive
  • Another advantage is the stability and durability of UV-activated glue.
  • the characters are arranged on the electroluminescent layer using a template, an adapted film or other spacing aids.
  • a further development provides that the adhesive reacts with the material of the plastic layer in order to further increase the security against forgery.
  • a sign with light-absorbing, alphanumeric characters attached to the plastic layer is very tamper-proof, since when the characters are replaced, the surface of the plastic layer is destroyed and the originally glued sign remains recognizable due to the changed structure of the plastic layer.
  • the characters are raised so that, in addition to being easily recognizable from the side, a haptic impression can also be conveyed.
  • the formation of the characters from an elastic material, in particular plastic ensures good bondability with the plastic and good conformability to the vehicle or the machine shape. Furthermore, the formation of the characters from a plastic, a cohesive connection is made and a loosening of the plastic is facilitated.
  • a reflective, at least partially transparent film is first applied over this electroluminescent layer in order to take into account the legal requirements with regard to the design of vehicle license plates.
  • a further plastic film may be applied over this reflective film, which bears, for example, the European symbol and the national code.
  • a final plastic layer is placed over this layer, which has an essentially smooth surface and consists of a translucent plastic.
  • the base, the electroluminescent layer, the reflective film and the plastic layer are welded together so that they form a structural unit.
  • the corresponding connections and ballast devices for operating the electroluminescent layer are provided on the rear side, that is to say on the side of the electroluminescent layer facing away from the plastic layer.
  • the required character set is first produced on site or taken from the appropriate warehouse.
  • the characters, light-absorbing alphanumeric characters are separated from a material plate, for example by means of a laser separation process or by punching, and are also made of plastic, preferably acrylic, and have a thickness of approximately 0.5 mm.
  • the characters are covered with a plastic, preferably polyurethane, in order to obtain the most plastic appearance possible.
  • the letters and numbers, which are now completely manufactured or stored in this way, are black and flexible due to the choice of material, so that they can easily adapt to a curved surface of the motor vehicle license plate.
  • the alphanumeric characters are aligned on the plastic film and firmly and permanently glued to the plastic layer of the license plate using a fast-curing adhesive, for example a UV-activated adhesive.
  • a fast-curing adhesive for example a UV-activated adhesive.
  • the surface of the label is dissolved by the adhesive or by the solvent contained in the adhesive, so that a material connection is created between the alphanumeric characters and the plastic layer.
  • the sign advantageously also has signs and / or symbols which are glued to the plastic layer which at least partially covers the base with the aid of an adhesive in such a way that parts are removed when the signs and / or symbols are removed of the adhesive.
  • parts of the plastic layer can be torn out when attempting to remove the characters and / or symbols, this effect being achieved in particular by the adhesive being reactively bonded to the material of the plastic layer.
  • the adhesive can also bond with the material of the characters and / or symbols, which practically makes it impossible for the characters and / or symbols to be removed from the plastic layer without residue.
