Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft Pfropfpolymerisate von vinylischen Monomeren auf einer Grundlage aus doppelbindungshaltigem Polyalkylenoxidkautschuk, ein Verfahren zur Herstellung dieser Pfropfpolymerisate sowie deren Verwendung.

Description

Pfropfpolymerisate auf Basis von Polyalkylenoxiden
Die Erfindung betrifft Pfropfpolymerisate von vinylischen Monomeren auf einer Grundlage aus doppelbindungshaltigem Polyalkylenoxidkautschuk, ein Verfahren zur
Herstellung dieser Pfropfpolymerisate sowie deren Verwendung.
Pfropfpolymerisate von vinylischen Monomeren auf Polydienkautschuken sind bekannt und werden in der Praxis in großem Maßstab eingesetzt. Sie weisen wegen der tiefen Glastemperatur der Kautschukphase eine gute Tieftemperaturzähigkeit auf, sind jedoch empfindlich gegen oxidativen Abbau, da die Hauptkette des Kautschuks Doppelbindungen enthält.
Andererseits ist die Tieftemperaturzähigkeit von Pfropfpolymerisaten von vinyli- sehen Monomeren auf Kautschuken mit gesättigter Hauptkette, wie z.B. Acrylat- kautschuken, EP(D)M oder LLDPE nicht für alle Anwendungen ausreichend, da die Glastemperaturen dieser Kautschuke meistens über -60°C liegen.
Weiterhin weisen Pfropfpolymerisate, in denen die Kautschukphase nicht vernetzt ist, Nachteile in ihrem Eigenschaftsprofil gegenüber solchen auf, in denen die
Kautschukphase vernetzt ist. So ändern sich beispielsweise bei der Verarbeitung mit ihrer Morphologie auch ihre Gebrauchseigenschaften.
Wünschenswert sind daher Pfropfpolymerisate von vinylischen Monomeren auf vernetzbaren Kautschuken, die sowohl eine niedrige Glastemperatur, vorzugsweise von unter - 60°C aufweisen, als auch witterungsbeständiger als solche basierend auf Polydien-Kautschuken sind.
Pfropfpolymerisate von vinylischen Monomeren auf Epihalogenhydrin-haltigen Polyalkylenoxiden sind bekannt (US-A 3,632,840, GB-A 1 352 583, GB-A 1 358 184, US-A 3,627,839). In diesen Polymerisaten ist die Kautschukphase nicht vernetzt und die Glastemperatur dieser Phase liegt über -50°C.
US-A 4,500,687 beschreibt schlagzäh modifizierte Thermoplaste auf der Basis von Styrol-haltiger Harz-Matrix und Polyalkylenoxid-Elastomeren mit niedriger Glastemperatur (unter -60°C) als Pfropfgrundlage. Das Verfahren basiert auf der in situ Herstellung eines sehr hochmolekularen Polyalkylenoxid-Kautschuks in Toluol und/oder Styrol-Monomer als Lösungsmittel mit Hilfe spezieller Aluminium-haltiger Katalysatoren sowie radikalischer Pfropfpolymerisation der vinylischen Monomeren auf diesen Polyalkylenoxid-Kautschuk. Ein Nachteil des in US 4,500,687 beschriebenen Verfahrens ist der Einsatz größerer Mengen Katalysator bezogen auf die Epoxide, was durch die im Polymer verbleibenden Katalysatorreste zu Störungen bei der Pfropfpolymerisation und zu schlechteren Produkteigenschaften führen kann. Außerdem liegen die Umsätze bei der Epoxidpolymerisation deutlich unter 100 %, typischerweise bei 30 bis 60 %, was einen zusätzlichen Reinigungsschritt zur Entfernung der toxischen Epoxide erforderlich macht.
Es bestand daher die Aufgabe, Pfropfpolymere mit sehr guter Tieftemperaturzähigkeit und Witterungsbeständigkeit bereitzustellen, die die oben genannten Probleme nicht aufweisen.
Überraschend wurde nun gefunden, dass diese Aufgabe durch Pfropfpolymerisate erhältlich durch die Polymerisation einer definierten Mischung aus vinylischen Monomeren auf spezielle Polyalkylenoxidkautschuke gelöst wird.
Gegenstand der Erfindung sind somit Pfropfpolymerisate erhältlich durch Polymerisation einer Mischung enthaltend
A) 40 bis 99 Gew.-%, bevorzugt 50 bis 98 Gew.-%, besonders bevorzugt 60 bis 97 Gew.-% vinylischer Monomere und B) 1 bis 60 Gew.-%, bevorzugt 2 bis 50 Gew.-%, besonders bevorzugt 3 bis 40 Gew.-% eines Polyalkylenoxids mit einer Glastemperatur von unter -50°C und einem zahlenmittleren Molekulargewicht von 25 000 bis 10 000 000.
Geeignete vinylische Monomere gemäß Komponente A) sind beispielsweise Styrol, α-Methylstyrol, 3-Methylstyrol, 4-Methylstyrol, Inden, Norbornen, Acrylnitril, Methacrylnitril, Methylmethacrylat, Maleinsäureanhydrid, Maleinimide, die am Stickstoffatom durch Cj bis Cig-Alkyl- oder Cg bis C]o-Arylreste substituiert sein können, (Meth)-Acrylsäureester mit 1 bis 18 C- Atomen in der Alkoholkomponente, und Glycidylmethacrylat sowie Mischungen dieser Verbindungen. Bevorzugt sind
Styrol, Acrylnitril sowie Mischungen hieraus.
Geeignete Polyalkylenoxid-Kautschuke gemäß Komponente B) sind insbesondere solche, erhältlich durch Umsetzung einer Mischung enthaltend
I) 80 bis 99 Gew.-Teile eines oder mehrerer gesättigter Epoxide,
II) 1 bis 20 Gew.-Teile, bevorzugt 2 bis 15 Gew.-Teile , besonders bevorzugt 5 bis 10 Gew.-Teile eines oder mehrerer ungesättigter Epoxide,
III) 0 bis 10 Gew.-Teile, bevorzugt 0 bis 5 Gew.-Teile Epoxide mit hydrolytisch vernetzbaren Gruppen sowie
IV) 0 bis 1 Gew.-Teile , bevorzugt 0 bis 0,5 Gew.-Teile eines oder mehrerer Diepoxide,
wobei die Summe der Komponenten I) bis IV) 100 Gew.-Teile ergibt,
in Gegenwart eines Multimetallcyanid-Katalysators.
Geeignete gesättigte Epoxide gemäß Komponente I) sind beispielsweise Ethylenoxid,
Propylenoxid, Epoxide von Olefinen mit 4 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen, wie z.B. Buten- 1-oxid, Buten-2-oxid, Penten-1-oxid, Penten-2-oxid, Isopropyloxiran,
Hexenoxide, Cj bis C^-Alkyl-Glycidylether, Glycidylester mit 1 bis 18 Kohlen- stoffatomen in dem Esterrest sowie Mischungen dieser Verbindungen. Bevorzugt ist Propylenoxid. Der Anteil von Propylenoxid an der Komponente I) beträgt dabei vorzugsweise mehr als 30 Gew.-%, besonders bevorzugt mehr als 50 Gew.-%.
Geeignete ungesättigte Epoxide gemäß Komponente II) sind beispielsweise Allylglycidylether, Butadienmonoepoxid, Isoprenmonoepoxid, Divinylbenzolmonoepoxid, Isopropenylphenylglycidylether oder Glycidyl(meth)acrylat, wobei Allylglycidylether und Glycidyl(meth)acrylat bevorzugt sind.
Geeignete Epoxide mit hydrolytisch vernetzbaren Gruppen gemäß Komponente III) sind beispielsweise Epoxide mit Gruppen, wie z.B.
(R1O)nR2 3-nSi- oder XnR23-nSi-, worin
R1 und R2 gleiche oder unterschiedliche Alkylreste mit 1 bis 20 C-Atomen, bevorzugt CrCö-Alkyl, besonders bevorzugt Methyl, Arylalkylreste mit 7 bis 26 C-Atomen, bevorzugt Aryl-C1-C4-Alkyl, besonder bevorzugt Benzyl oder Arylreste mit 6 bis 20 C-Atomen, bevorzugt C6-C]o-Aryl, besonders bevor- zugt Phenyl,
n eine ganze Zahl von 1 bis 3 und
X ein Halogenid bedeuten.
Beispiele sind die Epoxide der Formeln III- 1 bis III-4

wobei X, R1, R2 und n die oben angegebenen Bedeutungen haben.
Bevorzugt hiervon ist Glycidyl-(3-trimethoxysilylpropyl)ether (Formel III- 1, R1 Methyl, n = 3).
Weiterhin können, sofern gewünscht, zur Erhöhung der Molmasse ein oder mehrere Diepoxide gemäß Komponente IV) zugesetzt werden. Geeignete Diepoxide gemäß Komponente IV) sind beispielsweise Butadiendiepoxid, Isoprendiepoxid, Hexadien- 2,4-diepoxid, Divinylbenzoldiepoxid, Vinylcyclohexendiepoxid, Butandiol-1,4- diglycidylether oder Bisphenol-A-Diglycidylether. Bevorzugt sind Vinylcyclohexendiepoxid, Butan- 1 ,4-diglycidylether und Bisphenol- A-diglycidylether.
Die geeigneten Polyalkylenoxide B) sind aus den Komponenten I) bis IV) erhältlich durch ringöffnende Polymerisation unter Katalyse durch Multimetallcyanid-
Katalysatoren. Geeignete Multimetallcyanid-Katalysatoren sind bekannt und beschrieben im Stand der Technik. Bevorzugt sind solche Katalysatoren, wie sie beschrieben sind in EP-A 654 302, EP-A 700 949, EP- A 743 093, EP-A 761 708, WO 97/40086, WO 98/16310 und DE-A 199 20 937. Besonders bevorzugt sind Multimetallcyanid- Katalysatoren, die Zinkhexacyanokobaltat(III), Zinkhexacyanoiridat(III), Zinkhexa- cyanoferrat(III) oder Kobalt(II)hexacyanokobaltat(III) enthalten. Ganz besonders bevorzugt sind solche, die neben einer Multimetallcyanid- Verbindung (z.B. Zinkhexa- cyanokobaltat(III)) und tert.-Butanol noch einen Polyether mit einem zahlenmittlerem Molekulargewicht größer 500 g/mol enthalten, und die substantiell amorph sind.
Die Menge an Katalysator beträgt üblicherweise 0,0001 bis 0,05 Gew.-% bezogen auf die Epoxid-Monomere. Eine Entfernung aus dem Polymerisat ist im allgemeinen nicht erforderlich.
Die Reaktion kann kontinuierlich oder diskontinuierlich, z.B. in einem Batch oder Semi-Batch Verfahren durchgeführt werden.
Die Reaktion wird im allgemeinen bei Temperaturen von 20 bis 200°C, bevorzugt im Bereich von 40 bis 180°C, besonders bevorzugt im Bereich von 80 bis 150°C durchgeführt. Die Reaktion kann bei Gesamtdrücken von 0.001 bis 20 bar durchgeführt werden. Sie kann in Substanz oder in einem oder mehreren inerten organischen Lösungsmittel, wie in Aliphaten, wie z.B. Pentan, iso-Pentan, Hexan, Heptan, Cyclohexan, Isooctan, Aromaten, wie z.B. Benzol, Monochlorbenzol, Toluol, Ethylbenzol, Styrol, o-, m-, p-Xylole, Ethern, wie z.B. THF, Diethylether, tert-
Butylmethylether, Ketonen, wie z.B. Aceton, Methylethylketon, Methylpropylketon, Estern, wie z.B. Ethylacetat, Methylpropionat, Alkyl(meth)acrylate, Nitrilen, wie z.B. Propionitril, n- oder iso-Butyronitril, (Meth)acrylnitril durchgeführt werden. Sofern ein Lösungsmittel eingesetzt wird, beträgt dessen Menge üblicherweise 10 bis 1000 Gew.% bezogen auf die Menge des herzustellenden Polyalkylenoxids. Die Auswahl des Lösungsmittels bzw. Lösungsmittelgemisches und dessen Menge richtet sich nach den optimalen Bedingungen für die anschließende Copolymerisation des Polyalkylenoxid-Kautschuks mit vinylischen Monomeren.
Der Katalysator kann vor der Reaktion präaktiviert werden, so dass die bei einer diskontinuierlichen Verfahrensweise typische Induktionsperiode von mehreren Minuten bis zu einigen Stunden nicht auftritt und die Reaktionswärme durch die Monomer- dosierung kontrolliert und über das Lösungsmittel abgeführt werden kann, was die Prozesssicherheit erhöht. In solchen Fällen kann auch unter adiabatischen Be- dingungen gearbeitet werden.
Zur Präaktivierung des Katalysator-Systems eignen sich Epoxide, wie z.B. Propylenoxid, 1 -Butenoxid, 1-Pentenoxid, 1 -Hexenoxid, wobei die höher siedenden Epoxide wie 1 -Hexenoxid bevorzugt sind. Die Präaktivierung kann gegebenenfalls in Gegen- wart eines Lösungsmittels bzw. Lösungsmittelgemisches erfolgen.
Geeignete Polyalkylenoxide B) weisen zahlenmittlere Molgewichte (Mn) von 25.000 bis 10.000.000 g/mol, besonders bevorzugt von 30.000 bis 1.000.000 g/mol, besonders bevorzugt von 40.000 bis 100.000, und eine Uneinheitlichkeit Mw/Mn"l von 0,5 bis 10, bevorzugt von 0,5 bis 5, besonders bevorzugt von 2 bis 4,5 auf, wobei der
Glasübergang des kautschukartigen Polymers unter -50°C, bevorzugt unter -60°C, liegt.
Die Polyalkylenoxide können über ihre Hydroxygruppen, z.B. mit Di- und Polyiso- cyanaten oder Di- und Polyanhydriden, unter Vergrößerung der Molmasse umgesetzt werden.
Als Di- bzw. Polyisocyanate kommen aliphatische, cycloaliphatische, arylalipha- tische, aromatische und heterocyclische Di- bzw. Polyisocyanate in Frage, wie sie in Justus Liebigs Annalen der Chemie, B. 75, S. 562, 1949 beschrieben werden, beispielsweise solche der Formel Q(NCO)m worin
m eine Zahl von 2 bis 4, vorzugsweise 2, und
Q einen aliphatischen Kohlenwasserstoffrest mit 2 bis 20, vorzugsweise 6 bis 10 C-Atomen, einen cycloaliphatischen Kohlenwasserstoffrest mit 4 bis 15, vorzugsweise 5 bis 10 C-Atomen, einen aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffrest mit 6 bis 15, vorzugsweise 6 bis 13 C-Atomen, oder einen arylaliphatischen
Kohlenwasserstoffrest mit 8 bis 15, vorzugsweise 8 bis 13 C-Atomen
bedeuten.
Bevorzugt sind Di- bzw. Polyisocyanate, wie sie in DE-A 28 32 253 beschrieben werden. Besonders bevorzugt eingesetzt werden in der Regel die technisch leicht zugänglichen Di- bzw. Polyisocyanate, z.B. 2,4- und 2,6-Toluylendiisocyanat sowie beliebige Gemische dieser Isomeren („TDI"), Polyphenyl-polymethylenpolyisocyanate, die durch Anilin-Formaldehyd-Kondensation und anschließende Phosgenierung her- gestellt werden („rohes MDI"), Hexamethylendiisocyanat („HDI") und Carbodiimid- gruppen, Urethangruppen, Allophatgruppen, Isocyanoratgruppen, Harnstoffgruppen oder Biuretgruppen aufweisende Polyisocyanate („modifizierte Polyisocyanate").
Insbesondere bevorzugt sind solche Polyisocyanate, die sich vom 2,4- und/oder 2,6- Toluylendiisocyanat ableiten.
Weiterhin kann eine Kettenverlängerung durch Umsetzung mit Di- bzw. Polyanhydriden erzielt werden, wobei Polymaleinsäureanhydride bevorzugt sind.
Über die vorhandenen Doppelbindungen können die Polyalkylenoxide B) durch radikalische Reaktionen polymerisiert oder verzweigt werden. Der Polyalkylenoxidkautschuk B) kann bis zu einem Anteil von 50 Gew.-% durch andere Kautschuke, beispielsweise durch Polydien-(z.B. Polybutadien, Polyisopren, Polychloropren, Nitrilkautschuke, hydrierte Nitrilkautschuke), Ethylen-Alken- (EPM, LLDPE), Ethylen-Alken-Dien- (EPDM), Silicon-, Acrylat-Kautschuke ersetzt werden.
Die Polymerisation der Mischung von A) und B) kann in Substanz, in Lösung oder in Suspension in Wasser und in kontinuierlichen sowie diskontinuierlichen Verfahren erfolgen. Die Komponente B) kann auch vorher in Wasser dispergiert und anschließend in einer Emulsionspolymerisation mit den Monomeren A) weiter umgesetzt werden.
Die Komponente B) kann in einem der Monomere A) bzw. in einem Monomerge- misch gelöst vorgelegt werden. Ebenfalls kann die Komponente B) in einem geeigneten Lösungsmittel, wie z.B. Benzol, Chlorbenzol, Toluol, Ethylbenzol, Xylol, Aceton, Methylethylketon, Diethylketon, Ethylacetat, Methylpropionat, gelöst und mit den vinylischen Monomeren der Komponente A) in Kontakt gebracht werden. Die vinylischen Monomere können in diesem Fall auch in dem Fachmann bekannter Weise während der Copolymerisation zudosiert werden.
Bei der Polymerisation wird die Komponente B) vernetzt und mit den vinylischen Monomeren der Komponente A) bepfropft.
Die Polymerisation wird radikalisch ausgelöst. Man verwendet bevorzugt bei niedrigen Temperaturen zerfallende, pfropfaktive Radikalinitiatoren, insbesondere Peroxide wie Peroxoester, Peroxocarbonate, Peroxodiester, Peroxodicarbonate, Diacylperoxide, Perketale, Dialkylperoxide und/oder Azo- Verbindungen bzw. Mischungen heraus. Beispiele sind u.a. tert.-Butylperpivalat, -peroctoat, -perbenzoat, -perneodecanoat, tert.-Butyl-2-Ethylhexylpercarbonat, Dibenzoylperoxid oder Dicumylperoxid. Die Initiatoren werden in Mengen von 0,01 bis 2,5 Gew.-% bezogen auf die Komponente Ä) eingesetzt.
Die Komponente B) kann aber auch unter Scherung und gegebenenfalls unter Einsatz von dem Fachmann bekannten Dispergiermitteln bzw. Emulgatoren in Wasser dis- pergiert und in Dispersion bzw. Emulsion mit den Monomeren der Komponente A) umgesetzt werden. Die für diese Reaktionsführung geeigneten Initiatoren sind, abgesehen von organischen Radikalbildnern, Redoxinitiator-Systeme bestehend in der Regel aus einem organischen oder anorganischen Oxidationsmittel und einem Re- duktionsmittel, sowie gegebenenfalls zusätzlich Schwermetallionen.
Beispiele geeigneter organischer Oxidationsmittel sind Di-tert.-butylperoxid, Cumol- hydroperoxid, Dicyclohexylpercarbonat, tert.-Butylhydroperoxid, p-Menthanhydro- peroxid, bevorzugt sind Cumolhydroperoxid und tert.-Butylhydroperoxid. Als an- organische Oxidationsmittel sind beispielsweise anorganische Peroxodisulfate wie
Natrium-, Kalium- oder Ammoniumperoxodisulfat und auch H2O2 geeignet.
Geeignete Reduktionsmittel sind wasserlösliche Verbindungen wie beispielsweise Salze der Sulfinsäure, Salze der schwefligen Säure, Natriumdithionit, Natriumsulfit, Natriumhyposulfit, Natriumhydrogensulfit, Ascorbinsäure und deren Salze, Mono- und Dihydroxyaceton, Zucker (z.B. Glucose oder Dextrose), Eisen(II)salze wie z.B. FeSO4, Zinn(II)-salze wie z.B. SnCl2, Titan(III)-salze wie z.B. Ti2(SO4)3.
Die Reaktionstemperatur kann in weiten Grenzen variiert werden. Sie beträgt üb- licherweise 25 bis 180°C, bevorzugt 50 bis 170°C, besonders bevorzugt 70 bis 160°C und kann auch während der Polymerisation verändert werden.
In einem Masse- oder Lösungs-Prozess polymerisiert man das Gemisch enthaltend die Komponenten A) und B) mindestens bis die Phaseninversion erreicht ist, vorzugsweise bis der Umsatz der Monomere der Komponente A) Werte von 30 bis
100 %, bevorzugt von 50 bis 95 % erreicht hat. Unter Phaseninversion wird der Vorgang verstanden, daß die Kautschukphase von der äußeren zusammenhängenden in die innere zerteilte Phase übergeht und entsprechend die andere Phase von der inneren zerteilten in die äußere zusammenhängende Phase. Nach der Phaseninversion kann man das in Substanz oder in Lösung erhaltene Polymerisat in Wasser suspendieren und die Reaktion in Suspension fortsetzen.
Während der Polymerisation und vor der Verarbeitung können übliche Zusatzmittel wie Molekulargewichtsregler wie beispielsweise Mercaptane, Allyl-Verbindungen, dimere α-Methylstyrole, Terpinolen, sowie Farbstoffe, Antioxidantien, Gleitmittel wie z.B. Kohlenwasserstofföle, Stabilisatoren etc. zugesetzt werden.
Lösungsmittel, Restmonomere und weitere flüchtige Bestandteile (Oligomere, Molekulargewichtsregler) können nach Erreichen von Monomerumsätzen von 50 bis maximal 98 % mit herkömmlichen Techniken, z.B. auf Wärmeaustauschver- dampfern, Schneckenverdampfern, Strangverdampfern, Dünnfilm- oder Dünnschichtverdampfern entfernt werden.
Die nach dem Emulsionsverfahren hergestellten Pfropfpolymere können durch bekannte Verfahren, beispielsweise durch Sprühtrocknung oder durch Zusatz von Salzen und/oder Säuren, Waschen der Fällprodukte und Trocknung des Pulvers aufgearbeitet werden.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Pfropfpolymere können mit anderen Polymeren zu Blends verarbeitet werden.
Geeignete Blendpartner sind beispielsweise ausgewählt aus der Gruppe der vinylischen (Co)Polymere, Polycarbonate, Polyester, Polyestercarbonate und Polyamide. Die erfindungsgemäßen Pfropfpolymere sowie deren Blends zeichnen sich durch eine gute Tieftemperaturzähigkeit und verbesserte Beständigkeit gegen thermische Alterung und Be Witterung aus.
Sie sind geeignet zur Herstellung von Formkörpern oder Halbzeugen durch Spritz- guss oder Extrusion.
Im Folgenden wird die Erfindung anhand von Ausführungsbeispielen erläutert.
Beispiele
Die Ausgangschemikalien Zinkchlorid, Kaliumhexacyanokobaltat, tert.-Butanol, Polypropylenglykol (Mn = 1 000), Allylglycidylether, Propylenoxid, MDI (4,4'-Methylendiphenyldiisocyanat) wurden von der Fa. Aldrich (Taufkirchen, DE),
1 -Hexenoxid, Cholsäure-Na-Salz und Polyethylenglykol (Mn = 1 000) von der Fa. Fluka (Taufkirchen, DE) gekauft und ohne weitere Reinigung eingesetzt. Die Werte für Mn und Mw wurden ermittelt durch Gelpermeationschromatographie (GPC) in Tetrahydrofuran (THF) bei 25 °C mit Polystyrol-Eichung.
Beispiel 1
Copolymerisation von Styrol und Acrylnitril mit Polypropylenoxid-co-Allylglycidyl- ether
a) Aktivierung des Multimetallcyanid-Katalysators
20 mg eines Multimetallcyanid-Katalysators, hergestellt nach Beispiel A aus DE 199 20 937, werden mittels eines Ultraschall-Bads unter Argon innerhalb von 15 Min. in 40 ml Toluol suspendiert. Dazu gibt man 0,3 g Polyethylenglykol-Starter (Mn ca. 1000 g/Mol, Aldrich), 4 g 1 -Hexenoxid (Aldrich) und rührt 3 Stunden bei
110°C.
b) Copolymerisation von Propylenoxid mit Allyglycidylether unter Multimetall- cyanid-Katalyse
1000 ml Toluol und 26,4 ml Katalysatorlösung aus oben beschriebenem Beispiel a) (enthaltend 13 mg des Multimetallcyanid-Katalysators) werden in einem 2 1 Reaktor vorgelegt und auf 110°C gebracht. Dazu dosiert man unter starkem Rühren (150 UpM) innerhalb 3,5 Stunden 480 g Monomermischung, bestehend aus 448 g Propylenoxid (Aldrich) und 32 g Allylglycidylether (Aldrich). Nach vollständiger Zu- gabe von Monomeren wird die Reaktionsmischung weitere 1,5 Stunden unter Rück- fluss gerührt.
Es wird eine leicht trübe, viskose Lösung erhalten. Der Monomerumsatz beträgt nach 5 Stunden 100 %. Das Lösungsmittel wird vom kautschukartigen Polymer im
Vakuum bei 50°C entfernt.
Von dem erhaltenen Polymer werden folgende Daten erhalten: Mn = 50 000 g/Mol Tg = -70°C, (DSC, völlig amorphes Produkt)
c) Copolymerisation von Styrol und Acrylnitril mit Polypropylenoxid-co-Allyl- glycidylether
117 g des in Beispiel lb beschriebenen Polymers werden bei 80°C in 274 g Toluol gelöst und in einem 2 L Druckreaktor vorgelegt. Man heizt die erhaltene Lösung auf 135°C und stellt die Rührgeschwindigkeit auf 35 UpM. Man dosiert parallel und gleichlaufend eine Lösung, bestehend aus 389 g Styrol und 138 g Acrylnitril, und eine Lösung, bestehend aus 83 g Toluol und 1,37 g tert.-Butylperoxo-(2-ethylhexyl)- carbonat, innerhalb von 85 Min. Danach wird die Temperatur auf 165°C erhöht und zu der Reaktionsmischung wird eine Lösung, bestehend aus 83 g Toluol und 0,53 g Di-tert.-butylperoxid schnell zugegeben. Die Reaktionsmischung wird weitere 1,5 Stunden bei dieser Temperatur gerührt. Anschließend wird die Reaktionsmischung abgekühlt und bei ca. 100°C mit 389 g Styrol und 138 g Acrylnitril (Monomergemisch als Lösemittel) verdünnt. Der Umsatz beträgt 97 % bezogen auf die ursprünglich vorgelegten Monomere. Die Aufarbeitung erfolgt auf einer 32 mm Zweiwellengleichdrallschnecke.
Die Kerbschlagzähigkeit bei Raumtemperatur (ak ) wird an 80 x 10 x 4 mm Prüfstäben, verarbeitet bei 240°C, nach ISO 180/1 A bestimmt und beträgt 14 kJ/m2. d) Copolymerisation von Styrol und Acrylnitril mit Polypropylenoxid-co-Allyl- glycidylether
130 g des in Beispiel lb beschriebenen Polymers werden bei 80°C in 200 g Toluol, 195 g Styrol und 69 g Acrylnitril gelöst und in einem 2 L Druckreaktor vorgelegt.
Hinzu gibt man 0,26 n-Dodecylmercaptan (Aldrich) und 1,3 g Irganox 1076 (Ciba Spezialitäten-Chemie), heizt die erhaltene Lösung auf 120°C und stellt die Rührgeschwindigkeit auf 20 UpM
Man dosiert innerhalb von 60 Min. eine Lösung, bestehend aus 100 g Toluol und
0,8 g tert.-Butylperoctoat, und danach gleichlaufend eine Lösung, bestehend aus 195 g Styrol und 69 g Acrylnitril, und eine Lösung, bestehend aus 100 g Toluol und 0,5 g tert.-Butylperoctoat, innerhalb von 60 Min. Danach wird die Temperatur auf 140°C erhöht und zu der Reaktionsmischung wird eine Lösung, bestehend aus 100 g Toluol und 0,4 g Dicumylperoxid schnell zugegeben. Die Reaktionsmischung wird weitere 60 Min. bei dieser Temperatur gerührt. Anschließend wird die Reaktionsmischung abgekühlt und bei ca. 100°C mit 389 g Styrol und 138 g Acrylnitril (Monomergemisch als Lösemittel, bei einem industriellen Prozess bevorzugt) verdünnt. Der Umsatz beträgt 90 % bezogen auf die ursprünglich vorgelegten Mono- mere. Die Aufarbeitung erfolgt auf einer 32 mm Zweiwellengleichdrallschnecke.
Die Kerbschlagzähigkeit bei Raumtemperatur (ak ) wird an 80 x 10 x 4 mm Prüfstäben, verarbeitet bei 240°C, nach ISO 180/1 A bestimmt und beträgt 25 kJ/m2.

Claims

Patentansprüche
1. Pfropfpolymerisate erhältlich durch Polymerisation einer Mischung enthaltend
A) 40 bis 99 Gew.-% vinylischer Monomere und
B) 1 bis 60 Gew.-% eines doppelbindungshaltigen Polyalkylenoxid- kautschuks mit einer Glastemperatur von unter -50°C und einem zahlenmittleren Molekulargewicht von 25 000 bis 10 000 000.
2. Pfropfpolymerisate gemäß Anspruch 1, wobei Komponente A) ausgewählt ist aus Styrol, α-Methylstyrol, 3-Methylstyrol, 4-Methylstyrol, Inden, Norbornen, Acrylnitril, Methacrylnitril, Methylmethacrylat, Maleinsäureanhydrid, Maleinimide, die am Stickstoffatom durch Ci bis C18-Alkyl- oder C6 bis C10-
Arylreste substituiert sein können, (Meth)-Acrylsäureester mit 1 bis 18 C- Atomen in der Alkoholkomponente, und Glycidylmethacrylat sowie Mischungen dieser Verbindungen.
3. Pfropfpolymerisate gemäß Anspruch 1, wobei Komponente A) ausgewählt ist aus Styrol, Acrylnitril sowie Mischungen dieser Verbindungen.
4. Pfropfpolymerisate gemäß Anspruch 1, wobei Komponente B) erhältlich ist durch Umsetzung einer Mischung enthaltend
I) 80 bis 99 Gew.-Teile eines oder mehrerer gesättigter Epoxide,
II) 1 bis 20 Gew.-Teile eines oder mehrerer ungesättigter Epoxide,
III) 0 bis 10 Gew.-Teile Epoxide mit hydrolytisch vernetzbaren Gruppen sowie IV) 0 bis 1 Gew.-Teile eines oder mehrerer Diepoxide, in Gegenwart eines Multimetallcyanid-Katalysators.
wobei die Summe der Komponenten I) bis IV) 100 Gew.-Teile ergibt.
5. Pfropfpolymerisate gemäß Anspruch 1 und 4, wobei der Multimetall-Kata- lysator tert.-Butanol enthält.
6. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Pfropfpolymerisaten gemäß Anspruch 1, bei eine Mischung enthaltend
A) 40 bis 99 Gew.-Teile vinylische Monomere und
B) 1 bis 60 Gew.-Teile eines Polyalkylenoxids mit einer Glastemperatur von unter -50°C und einem zahlenmittleren Molekulargewicht von 25 000 bis 10 000 000
radikalisch polymerisiert wird.
7. Verwendung von Pfropfpolymerisaten gemäß Anspruch 1 zur Herstellung von Formkörpern.
8. Formkörper erhältlich aus Pfropfpolymerisaten gemäß Anspruch 1.
