Definitions
- the invention relates to a fire-resistant composite yarn and a textile comprising at least a woven or knitted textile layer formed with such a yarn.
- the textile is typically intended for the production of protective clothing, military clothing, firefighters or used in industry.
- the use of the textile is adapted when the clothing must give the user some thermal protection.
- the fabric can be printed or stained with a minimum of dichroism, especially in a single phase, that is to say using a single printing or dyeing process.
- the wire must have sufficient mechanical properties in term abrasion resistance, toughness and stability, including coloring, when using or different washes that the garment will have to undergo.
- the proposed wire must have a production cost that is compatible with the applications considered.
- the invention therefore aims to remedy this drawback by proposing in particular a yarn composed of three types of fibers each having properties different, and which, in a particular combination range, allow to obtain very satisfactory results on all the constraints mentioned above.
- the invention proposes a textile intended for the production protective clothing, said textile comprising at least one layer woven or knitted textile formed with such yarns.
- the invention relates to an anti-fire composite yarn composed of three types of fibers specific, said yarn being particularly usable for the production of a textile for protective clothing, eg for military, fireman or used in industry. Indeed, in such applications, constraints, particularly in terms of fire resistance and mechanical resistance, are more and more severe so that there is a significant demand for perfect the known wires, and this in a controlled cost.
- the fibers are formed from a material crystalline or semi-crystalline polymeric material, that is to say, typically having a crystallinity level greater than 25%.
- the polymeric material is chosen from the group comprising polyesters, polypropylenes, alcohols polyvinyl.
- the flame-retarded fibers comprise a flame retardant polymeric material.
- the material flame retardant may be a polyvinyl chloride which, when burned, gives off enough chlorine to make the fiber non-flammable.
- the fibers may, after their manufacture, be surface treated with a known flame retardant.
- the flame retarded fibers thus obtained therefore have, when they are subject to a flame or an important source of heat, the double property to not spread the flame and to delay the increase in wire temperature. Indeed, because of their crystalline nature, they present a melting peak that absorbs some of the thermal energy during their merger. To obtain a composite yarn with flame retardant properties satisfactory, the amount of flame retardant fiber used is greater than 40% relative to the total weight of the wire.
- fireproof fibers are associated with a second type of fibers that are hydrophilic and formed of a non fuse.
- the second type of fiber allows first of all to absorb a part of the fusion energy of the fireproof fibers. Indeed, because of their character hydrophilic, fibers of the second type are likely to absorb the energy by vaporization of the stored water.
- thermo stability of the combination of the two first types of fiber is obtained thanks to the non-fusible nature of the fibers hydrophilic.
- thermal shrinkage of the wire is decreased so that the garment has a greater ability to maintain its structure three-dimensional when exposed to a flame.
- hydrophilic fibers make it possible to obtain a comfort of use, especially in terms of touch and absorption of perspiration, which is interesting.
- hydrophilic fibers included between 10% and 45% based on the weight of fire-resistant fibers. Indeed, in below this percentage, the contribution of hydrophilic fibers is insufficient in the context of the application under consideration, and below this percentage, there is not enough fireproof fiber to effectively the anti-combustion and thermal energy absorption functions mentioned above.
- the hydrophilic fibers may be made from a cellulosic material natural or artificial such as cotton, viscose, rayon or wool-based.
- the hydrophilic fibers can be treated so as to be at least partially fire-resistant.
- the yarn further comprises a third type of fibers which are heat-stable and are made from a non-flammable material.
- thermostable we means fibers that retain their physical properties in temperatures where other fibers have lost them.
- the third type of fiber has the particular function of reinforcing, besides thermal properties, the mechanical properties of the wire.
- the use of these fibers makes it possible to obtain abrasion resistance, toughness and stability, especially when using or different washes, which is compatible with the production of protective clothing.
- thermostable fibers make it possible to limit the formation of holes in the fabric when it is subjected to a flame, and thus to improve the fire protection provided by the garment.
- thermostable fibers have also an advantageous effect on the limitation of the thermal shrinkage of the wire.
- the Applicant has tested and found that the contribution of the fibers thermostable was interesting as soon as they were present in a quantity equal to 4% of the total weight of the yarn. This small percentage is particularly interesting because of the high cost of these fibers thermostable and secondly the impossibility of printing or dyeing them with simple techniques, especially with the techniques conventionally used for the first two types of fibers. This constraint is particularly important in the military field because the quality of Printed or tinted colors directly affect the quality of camouflage conferred by the garment.
- thermostable fibers in which a specific color is integrated which is arranged to blend into the colors applied later on the fabric, without significantly altering the quality of the camouflage obtained.
- thermostable fibers In the case where a composite wire with high mechanical strength is desired, it It is also possible to integrate up to 50% of thermostable fibers with relative to the total weight of the wire.
- thermostable fibers can be made from a material polymeric selected from the group consisting of para aramids, meta aramids, polybenzimidazole-imides, polybenzooxazoles, polyacrylates, polyphenols, polyamide-imides, poly-p-phenylenediamine terephthalamides (PPTA or M5).
- a material polymeric selected from the group consisting of para aramids, meta aramids, polybenzimidazole-imides, polybenzooxazoles, polyacrylates, polyphenols, polyamide-imides, poly-p-phenylenediamine terephthalamides (PPTA or M5).
- the fibers forming the yarn are mixed so intimate by a classic spinning technique.
- the wire can between 4% and 20% of thermostable fibers to optimize the ratio between the technical advantages conferred by these fibers in relation to their cost and their coloring stress.
- a yarn formed of 72% by weight of commercial PVA FR fibers i.e. polyvinyl alcohol formed fibers and an inclusion of polyvinyl chloride
- 23% by weight of cotton and 5% by weight of fibers in para aramid which has fire-fighting characteristics (in terms of LAI (Limit Oxygen Index) that is to say of minimum concentration of oxygen necessary to cause ignition of the wire in contact with a flame), mechanical strength and staining ability that are particularly interesting in the context of the applications considered.
- the thread has a LAI defined according to ISO 4589-2 which is greater than 25%.
- the composite wire comprises a formed core wire with the thermostable fibers and, associated around said core wire, a coating formed of the intimate mixture of fireproof fibers and hydrophilic fibers.
- This type of yarn is conventionally made by a core-spun technique.
- thermostable fibers corresponds classically to the case where one wishes a wire to high tenacity, so that the amount of thermostable fibers can be fixed between 20% and 50% by weight of the yarn.
- staining constraints of thermostable fibers do not arise from the fact that that they are arranged in the core wire.
- the invention therefore proposes a particular combination of fibers which makes it possible to optimally fill in particular the constraints as well anti-fire as in a cost compatible with industrial production.
- the yarn according to the invention makes it possible to obtain a textile of sufficient flexibility to get a good touch.
- the son according to the invention are particularly intended for the realization a woven or knitted textile layer which is used in a textile for protective clothing.
- the textile layer can be advantageously dyed or printed with a minimum of dichroism, especially in a single phase, that is to say using a single coloring process, for example fixed type washed.
- the textile may comprise, associated on the textile layer, a layer waterproof-breathable-that is, waterproof and windproof, but permeable to water vapor - non-flammable so as to confer this property protective clothing made.
- the breathable layer can be made in the form of a membrane or a microporous and / or hydrophilic coating, for example polyurethane or polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and be associated with the textile layer by serigraphy coating of a network of adhesive dots.
- PTFE polytetrafluoroethylene

Abstract
Description
- résister au feu, et notamment ne pas être facilement inflammable ;
- assurer une isolation thermique afin de protéger l'utilisateur de la chaleur ;
- conserver une certaine cohésion mécanique de sorte à limiter la formation de trous dans le vêtement, ce qui conduirait à un contact direct entre la flamme et la peau de l'utilisateur ;
