Abstract

The urinal (1) has a membrane valve (5) at the outflow opening (13). In one position, the valve covers the outflow opening with a gas- and fluid-tight sealing action and, in a second setting, the valve is opened to allow urine to flow away. A flushing system is operated manually or by remote control, to deliver flushing water at time intervals through a distributor (9) at the urinal basin (12).

Gemäß einem weiteren Merkmal der Erfindung kann das Zeitintervall vom Betreiber eingestellt werden. Im Unterschied zu wassergespülten Urinalen können diese Zeitintervalle ohne Hygieneprobleme sehr lang gewählt werden, da das Urinal in den Zwischenperioden als Trockenurinal arbeitet. Claims

A method of operating a dry urinal with a bowl with no flushing edge and a mechanical odour seal, preferably an elastic membrane seal, characterised in that the urinal is flushed with flushing water at predetermined time intervals by means of a remotely-controlled flushing system.
A method as claimed in Claim 1, characterised in that the time interval is adjustable by the user.
A method as claimed in Claims 1 and 2, characterised in that a flushing process may be initiated manually at any time, preferably when cleaning the urinal.
