Abstract

The motorcycle helmet has a main shell (1) covering the head, and a chin section (2) which swings between a lower closed setting and an upper open position at the shell. The swing visor (9) pivots on the chin section between open and closed positions. The chin section has a force on it in the opening direction (O), and the swing movement is damped by a brake unit (21) with a housing (22) where a viscous fluid dampens a rotor, which is coupled to an external brake pinion (23) by a shaft. The pinion meshes with teeth (24) at the main swing unit (11).

Die ferner vorgesehen Visco-Bremse zur Dämpfung der Schwenkbewegung verhindert, daß das Kinnteil - insbesondere jetzt unter dem Einfluß seiner zusätzlichen Kraftbeaufschlagung - bei einem Loslassen hart in den Endpunkten der Schwenkbewegung anschlägt. Vielmehr wird insgesamt und insbesondere durch das Zusammenwirken von Kraftbeaufschlagung und Visco-Bremse ein gleichmäßiger, sanfter Lauf des Kinnteils, insbesondere nach Passieren seines oberen Scheitelpunkts, erreicht.This object is achieved by the features stated in the characterizing part of claim 1.     - a helmet shell (1) forming the helmet main body,

    - a visor member (9), which is pivotably supported at the chin-covering member (6) between a closed position and an opened position,
    characterized in that

    - the pivoting movement is dampened by a viscous break (21),
    - the chin-covering is linked by two guide arrangements (10) laterally arranged on the helmet shell (1), respectively, and each comprising two guides (11, 14) pivotably supported on the helmet shell, and is engaged with the corresponding toothing (24) on one of the guides (11) by a break pinion (23).
