Abstract
Saure wäßrige Phosphatierungslösung für Metalloberflächen, die einen pH-Wert im Bereich von 2,5 bis 3,6 aufweist und die während mindestens 90 % der Betriebsdauer die folgenden Bestandteile enthält: 0,3 bis 5 g/l Zink(II)ionen, 3 bis 50 g/l Phosphationen, berechnet als PO4<3->, 0,05 bis 2,5 g/l Hydroxylamin in freier, ionischer oder gebundener Form, 0,02 bis 0,18 g/l einer oder mehrerer organischer Stickstoffverbindungen ausgewählt aus m-Nitrobenzolsulfonationen, Nitroarginin, Nitroguanidin und organischen N-Oxiden, wobei das Gewichtsverhältnis zwischen Phosphationen und Zinkionen zwischen 3,7 und 30 liegt.
Description
Die Erfindung betrifft eine Phosphatierungslösung sowie ein Phosphatierverfahren
für die Phosphatierung von Metalloberflächen. Hierbei handelt es sich um eine
schichtbildende Phosphatierung, durch die auf der Metalloberfläche
festverwachsene kristalline Metallphosphatschichten erzeugt werden. Diese
verbessern die Korrosionsbeständigkeit insbesondere im Zusammenhang mit
einer nachfolgenden Lackierung und erhöhen die Haftung des Lacks auf der
Metalloberfläche.
Die vorliegende Erfindung entwickelt das in WO 95/07370 beschriebene
Phosphatierverfahren weiter. Dieses Dokument offenbart ein Verfahren zur
Phosphatierung von Metalloberflächen mit wäßrigen, sauren
Phosphatierlösungen, die Zink-, Mangan- und Phosphationen und als Beschleuniger
Hydroxylamin oder eine Hydroxylaminverbindung und/oder m-Nitrobenzolsulfonsäure
oder deren wasserlösliche Salze enthalten, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß man die Metalloberflächen mit einer Phosphatierlösung in
Berührung bringt, die frei von Nickel, Kobalt, Kupfer, Nitrit und Oxo-Anionen von
Halogenen ist und die
0,3 bis 2 g/l Zn(II)
0,3 bis 4 g/l Mn(II)
5 bis 40 g/l Phosphationen
0,1 bis 5 g/l Hydroxylamin in freier oder gebundener Form und/oder
0,2 bis 2 g/l M-Nitrobenzolsulfonat
und höchstens 0,5 g/l Nitrationen
enthält, wobei der Mn-Gehalt mindestens 50 % des Zn-Gehalts beträgt.

Dokument entnommen werden.
Es wird ein Phosphatierverfahren angestrebt, bei dem die Phosphatierungslösung
möglichst geringe Gehalte an Beschleuniger enthält und mit dem dennoch die in
der Praxis auftretenden Materialien gleichermaßen zuverlässig auch mit einer
gealterten Phosphatierungslösung phosphatiert werden können.
Die Erfindung betrifft in einem ersten Aspekt eine saure wäßrige
Phosphatierungslösung für Metalloberflächen, die einen pH-Wert im Bereich von
2,5 bis 3,6 aufweist und die während mindestens 90 % der Betriebsdauer die
folgenden Bestandteile enthält:
Die Formulierung, daß die Phosphatierungslösung "während mindestens 90 % der
Betriebsdauer" die genannten Komponenten enthalten soll, ist folgendermaßen zu
verstehen: Während des Phosphatierprozesses nimmt die Konzentration an
Wirkkomponenten ab. Dies gilt insbesondere für Beschleuniger, die zum einen
durch chemische Reaktion mit dem an der Metalloberfläche entstehenden
Wasserstoff verbraucht werden und die sich zum anderen auch spontan zersetzen
können, wie beispielsweise Hydroxylamin. Die Beschleunigergehalte sinken also
während des Phosphatierprozesses ab. Selbst beim Stehenlassen des Bades
können die Beschleunigergehalte aufgrund von spontaner Zersetzung abnehmen.
Sofern nicht rechtzeitig nachdosiert wird, können die Beschleunigergehalte auch
unterhalb der eigentlich erwünschten Mindestgrenzen absinken. Dies kann sogar
toleriert werden, so lange keine Metalloberflächen mit der Phosphatierungslösung
in Kontakt kommen. Daher kann es auch bei Phosphatierverfahren nach dem
Stand der Technik vorkommen, daß die Beschleunigergehalte kurzzeitig auf Werte
absinken, die im Bereich der Werte für das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren liegen.
Dieses unterscheidet sich von Verfahren nach dem Stand der Technik jedoch
dadurch, daß die Beschleunigerkonzentrationen absichtlich in den genannten
Bereichen gehalten werden, auch wenn Metalloberflächen phosphatiert werden.
Dies wird dadurch ausgedrückt, daß die Konzentrationen der Beschleuniger und
auch der anderen genannten Wirksubstanzen während mindestens 90 % der
Betriebsdauer in den genannten Bereichen liegen sollen.
Bei den genannten pH-Werten liegen die Phosphationen nur zu einem geringen
Teil als tertiäre Phosphationen, hauptsächlich jedoch als primäre und sekundäre
Phosphationen in Verbindung mit freier Phosphorsäure vor. Für die rechnerische
Ermittlung des Gehalts werden jedoch Phosphorsäure und alle Phosphationen so
behandelt, als lägen sie als tertiäre Phosphationen vor.
Bei den genannten pH-Werten liegt Hydroxylamin gemäß seinem Säure-Base-Gleichgewicht
teilweise als freies Amin, teilweise in protonierter Form vor. Es ist
daher unwesentlich, ob man Hydroxylamin als freie Base oder in Form eines
Salzes einsetzt. Setzt man Hydroxylamin in Salzform ein, ist insbesondere das
Sulfat und das primäre Phosphat geeignet. Hydroxylamin kann auch in Form von
Verbindungen vorliegen, die bei den genannten pH-Werten Hydroxylamin
abspalten. Beispiele hierfür sind Acetaldehydoxim und Acetoxim (WO 96/16204).
Die genannten organischen Stickstoffverbindungen und ihre Einsatzformen in
Phosphatierungslösungen sind im Stand der Technik bekannt: m-Nitrobenzolsulfonat
beispielsweise aus WO 95/07370 und hierin zitierten weiteren
Dokumenten, Nitroargenin aus DE 199 39 519, Nitroguanidin aus DE 196 34 685
und organische N-Oxide aus DE 197 33 978.
Sofern man als organische Stickstoffverbindung ein organisches N-Oxid
verwendet, wählt man dies vorzugsweise aus der Gruppe folgender Verbindungen
aus: Pyrridin-N-Oxid, 2-Methylpyrridin-N-Oxid, 4-Methylpyrridin-N-Oxid, Morpholin-N-Oxid
und N-Methylmorpholin-N-Oxid.
Eine Ausführungsform der erfindungsgemäßen Phosphatierungslösung ist
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie zusätzlich 0,7 bis 5 g/l Nitrationen enthält.
Nitrationen wirken als Co-Beschleuniger und verbessern hierdurch die Schichtausbildung.
Bei der Phosphatierung von verzinktem Stahl ist es dabei
empfehlenswert, daß der Chloridgehalt der Phosphatierlösung 100 mg/l nicht
überschreitet. Sonst besteht die Gefahr einer Bildung weißer Fehlstellen (Stippen)
auf bestimmten verzinkten Stählen. Da der Chloridgehalt der Phosphatierlösung in
der Praxis jedoch nicht oder allenfalls selten kontrolliert wird, empfiehlt es sich bei
der Phosphatierung von verzinktem Stahl, die Nitratkonzentration der
Phosphatierungslösung unterhalb von 0,5 g/l zu halten, wodurch auch bei
Chloridgehalten über 50 mg/l weiße Stippen vermieden werden.
Weiterhin ist es bevorzugt, daß die Phosphatierungslösung zusätzlich 0,001 bis 3
g/l freie und/oder komplexe Fluoridionen enthält, davon jedoch maximal bis zu 0,8
g/l freie Fluoridionen. Hierdurch verbessert sich die Phosphartierbarkeit von
schmelztauchverzinktem Stahl und insbesondere von Aluminium und dessen
Legierungen. Höhere Gehalte an freien und/oder komplexen Fluoridionen können
jedoch zu Fehlstellen führen. Freie Fluoridionen sind solche, die in hydratisierter
Form in der wäßrigen Lösung vorliegen. Sie können in Form von Flußsäure oder
in Form von löslichen Fluoriden wie beispielsweise Natrium-, Kalium- oder
Ammoniumfluorid eingesetzt werden. Unter komplexen Fluoridionen werden
Anionen verstanden, bei denen 2 oder mehr Fluoratome an ein Zentralatom
gebunden sind. Als Zentralatome kommen insbesondere Bor, Silicium, Titan und
Zirkon in Frage. Besonders bevorzugt sind Hexafluorosilicationen. Die komplexen
Fluoridionen können in Form der freien Säure oder in Form wasserlöslicher Salze
in die Phosphatierungslösung eingebracht werden.
Wie auf dem Gebiet der Phosphatierung allgemein bekannt, verbessern
zusätzliche Gehalte an Mangen- und/oder Nickelionen Korrosionsschutzwirkung
und Lackhaftung einer kristallinen Zinkphosphatschicht. In diesen Fällen werden
gemischte Metallphosphate ausgebildet, die außer Zink die zusätzlichen
Metallionen enthalten. Demnach ist es auch im Rahmen der vorliegenden
Erfindung bevorzugt, daß die Phosphatierlösung zusätzlich eines oder beide der
folgenden Kationen enthält: 0,2 bis 4 g/l Manganionen und/oder 0,05 bis 2,5 g/l
Nickelionen. Aus abwassertechnischer Sicht ist die Anwesenheit von Nickelionen
unerwünscht. Daher kann es vorzuziehen sein, daß die Phosphatierlösung keine
Nickelionen enthält. Jedoch ist es durch geeignete Membranfiltrations- oder
lonenaustauschverfahren möglich, aus Phosphatierabwasser Nickelionen soweit
zu entfernen und sogar zurückzugewinnen, daß die gesetzlichen Abwassergrenzwerte
für Deutschland weit unterschritten werden. Sofern eine derartige Anlage
zur Verfügung steht, ist es bevorzugt, daß die Phosphatierungslösung sowohl
Manganionen als auch Nickelionen enthält.
Durch die erfindungsgemäße Kombination von Hydroxylamin und einer oder
mehrerer organischer Stickstoffverbindungen als Beschleuniger ist es möglich,
geringere Beschleunigergehalte in der Phosphatierungslösung einzustellen als im
Stand der Technik üblich. Beispielsweise kann die Phosphatierungslösung
Hydroxylamin in freier, ionischer oder gebundener Form im Konzentrationsbereich
von 0,05 bis 0,75 g/l enthalten. Dies verbilligt den Phosphatierungsprozeß und
erleichtert insbesondere die Abwasserbehandlung. Phosphatierungsprobleme, die
insbesondere durch eine höhere Konzentration von Abbauprodukten des
Beschleunigers hervorgerufen werden können, werden vermieden. Bei der
erfindungsgemäßen Beschleunigerkombination ist es vorzuziehen, die Konzentrationen
der einzelnen Beschleuniger an einander zu koppeln: Je höher die
Konzentration des einen Beschleunigers, desto geringer kann die Konzentration
des anderen Beschleunigers gewählt werden. Verwendet man also die minimale
Konzentration an Hydroxylamin, so ist es vorzuziehen, daß die organische
Stickstoffverbindung in maximaler Konzentration vorliegt. Andererseits ist es nicht
erforderlich, beide Beschleuniger gleichzeitig in der erfindungsgemäßen
Maximalkonzentration einzusetzen. Demnach ist es bevorzugt, daß in der
Phosphatierungslösung die Summe der Konzentrationen von Hydroxylamin und
organischen Stickstoffverbindungen im Bereich von 0,23 bis 1 g/l, vorzugsweise
bis 0,9 g/l liegt.
Vorzugsweise liegen die einzelnen Komponenten der Phosphatierungslösung in
folgenden Konzentrationsbereichen vor: Zinkionen 0,5 bis 2 g/l, Manganionen 0,5
bis 1,5 g/l, Nickelionen 0,1 bis 1,5 g/l, Phosphationen 10 bis 20 g/l, Nitrationen 0,7
bis 2 g/l. Den pH-Wert stellt man vorzugsweise auf einen Bereich von 3 bis 3,4
ein. Außer durch die Konzentrationsangaben der einzelnen Komponenten werden
Phosphatierungslösungen häufig durch die Parameter "freie Säure" und "Gesamtsäure"
gekennzeichnet. Diese Begriffe sind dem Fachmann bekannt. Die "freie
Säure" kann beispielsweise dadurch bestimmt werden, daß man eine Badprobe
von 10 ml mit Wasser auf 50 ml verdünnt und mit 0,1 n Natronlauge bis zu einem
pH-Wert von 3,8 titriert. Der Verbrauch in ml an Natronlauge gibt den Gehalt an
freier Säure in Punkten an. Entsprechend bestimmt man den Gehalt an
Gesamtsäure in Punkten, indem man die Badprobe bis zu einem pH-Wert von 8,5
titriert. Die freie Säure liegt vorzugsweise im Bereich zwischen 0,3 und 1,5, die
Gesamtsäure im Bereich zwischen 15 und 30 Punkten.
Auf dem Gebiet der Phosphatierung ist es üblich, die Phosphatierungslösung nicht
durch Auflösen der einzelnen Komponenten in Wasser zuzubereiten, sondern sie
durch Verdünnen eines geeigneten Konzentrats mit Wasser herzustellen.
Entsprechend verwendet man üblicherweise Konzentrate, um die
Phosphatierungslösung im Gebrauch mit Wirkstoffen zu ergänzen. Daher betrifft
die vorliegende Erfindung in einem weiteren Aspekt ein wäßriges Konzentrat zum
Herstellen oder Ergänzen einer Phosphatierungslösung, das beim Verdünnen mit
Wasser im Gewichtsverhältnis Konzentrat: Wasser im Bereich von 1 : 5 bis 1 : 30
eine Phosphatierungslösung ergibt, wie sie vorstehend beschrieben wurde.
In einem weiteren Aspekt betrifft die vorliegende Erfindung ein Verfahren zum
Phosphatieren von Metalloberflächen ausgewählt aus Oberflächen von Stahl,
verzinktem oder legierungsverzinktem Stahl, aluminiertem oder
legierungsaluminiertem Stahl oder von Aluminium oder Aluminiumlegierungen, die
zu mindestens 50 Atomprozent aus Aluminium bestehen, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß man die Metalloberflächen für eine Zeitdauer im Bereich von
1 bis 8 Minuten mit einer Phosphatierungslösung nach einem oder mehreren der
Ansprüche 1 bis 7 in Kontakt bringt, die eine Temperatur im Bereich von 30 bis 70
°C aufweist. Vorzugsweise liegt die Behandlungszeit im Bereich von 2 bis 4
Minuten. Die Phosphatierungslösung weist vorzugsweise eine Temperatur im
Bereich von 40 bis 55 °C auf.
Das erfindungsgemäße Phosphatierungsverfahren ist insbesondere dafür
geeignet, Metalloberflächen ausgewählt aus Oberflächen von aluminiertem oder
legierungsaluminiertem Stahl oder von Aluminium oder Aluminiumlegierungen, die
zu mindestens 50 Atomprozent aus Aluminium bestehen, allein oder zusammen
mit Oberflächen von Stahl, verzinktem oder legierungsverzinktem Stahl zu
phosphatieren. Auch ein gealtertes Bad führt nicht zu Phosphatierungsproblemen
auf Aluminiumoberflächen, wie sie ansonsten bei höheren Konzentrationen von
organischen Nitroverbindungen durch deren Abbauprodukte hervorgerufen
werden können. Daher ist das Phosphatierverfahren insbesondere zur
Phosphatierung von Fahrzeugkarosserien geeignet, die Bauteile aus Aluminium
oder Aluminiumlegierungen allein oder zusammen mit Bauteilen aus Stahl
und/oder verzinktem Stahl enthalten.
Für die Versuche wurden Probebleche aus folgenden Materialien verwendet:
Automobilüblicher kaltgewalzter Stahl (CRS), elektrolytisch verzinkter Stahl (EG),
schmelztauchverzinkter Stahl (HDG) und die Aluminumlegierung AC 120. Die
Bleche wurden wie in der Automobilindustrie üblich alkalisch gereinigt (Reiniger
Ridoline® 1559 (Henkel KGaA), 2 %ig in Wasser, 5 Minuten) und mit einer
Titanphosphat-haltigen Suspension aktiviert (Fixodine® C 9112 (Henkel KGaA),
0,1 %ig in vollentsalztem Wasser, 1 Minute) und mit einer der nachstehenden
Phosphatierlösungen phosphatiert. Beschleunigergehalte und weitere Parameter
(Temperatur der Phosphatierungslösung = "T" in °C, Freie Säure = "FS" in
Punkten, Schichtgewicht ="SG" in g/m2) werden in den jeweiligen Tabellen im
einzelnen angegeben. Die Phosphatierdauer betrug 3 Minuten. Danach wurden
die Bleche mit Wasser gespült und getrocknet. Das Phosphatierergebnis wurde
optisch beurteilt. Die flächenbezogene Masse der Phosphatschicht
("Schichtgewicht") wurde durch Ablösen der Phosphatschicht und durch Wägen
der Bleche vor und nach dem Ablösen der Schicht bestimmt.

Die optische Beurteilung ergab für Beispiele 1 bis 4 ein gutes und geschlossenes
Schichtbild. Die Schichtgewichte liegen im technisch erwünschten Bereich. Die
erfindungsgemäßen Phosphatierungslösungen liefern also trotz eines geringen
Beschleunigergehalts gute Phosphatierergebnisse.
Hierfür wurde eine gebrauchte Lösung A verwendet, die in einer Automobil-Phosphatieranlage
in Betrieb war und aufgrund der angereicherten
Zersetzungsprodukte des m-Nitrobenzolsulfonats schwarz gefärbt war.

Die optische Beurteilung ergab eine gleichmäßige, geschlossene
Phosphatschicht.
Claims (10)
- Saure wäßrige Phosphatierungslösung für Metalloberflächen, die einen pH-Wert im Bereich von 2,5 bis 3,6 aufweist und die während mindestens 90 % der Betriebsdauer die folgenden Bestandteile enthält:wobei das Gewichtsverhältnis zwischen Phosphationen und Zinkionen zwischen 3,7 und 30 liegt.0,3 bis 5 g/l Zink(II)ionen,3 bis 50 g/l Phosphationen, berechnet als PO4 3-,0,05 bis 2,5 g/l Hydroxylamin in freier, ionischer oder gebundener Form,0,02 bis 0,18 g/l einer oder mehrerer organischer Stickstoffverbindungen ausgewählt aus m-Nitrobenzolsulfonationen, Nitroarginin, Nitroguanidin und organischen N-Oxiden,
- Phosphatierungslösung nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die organischen N-Oxide ausgewählt sind aus Pyridin-N-Oxid, 2-Methylpyridin-N-Oxid, 4-Methylpyridin-N-Oxid, Morpholin-N-Oxid und N-Methylmorpholin-N-Oxid.
- Phosphatierungslösung nach einem oder beiden der Ansprüche 1 und 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie zusätzlich 0,7 bis 5 g/l Nitrationen enthält.
- Phosphatierungslösung nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie zusätzlich 0,001 bis 3 g/l freie und/oder komplexe Fluoridionen, davon jedoch maximal bis zu 0,8 g/l freie Fluoridionen enthält.
- Phosphatierungslösung nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie zusätzlich eines oder beide der folgenden Kationen enthält:0,2 bis 4 g/l Mangan(ll)ionen0,05 bis 2,5 g/l Nickel(II)ionen.
- Phosphatierungslösung nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie 0,05 bis 0,75 g/l Hydroxylamin in freier, ionischer oder gebundener Form enthält.
- Phosphatierungslösung nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Summe der Konzentrationen von Hydroxylamin und organischen Stickstoffverbindungen im Bereich von 0,23 bis 1 g/l, vorzugsweise im Bereich von 0,23 bis 0,9 g/l liegt.
- Wäßriges Konzentrat zum Herstellen oder Ergänzen einer Phosphatierungslösung, das beim Verdünnen mit Wasser im Gewichtsverhältnis Konzentrat zu Wasser im Bereich von 1 : 5 bis 1 : 30 eine Phosphatierungslösung nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 7 ergibt.
- Verfahren zum Phosphatieren von Metalloberflächen ausgewählt aus Oberflächen von Stahl, verzinktem oder legierungsverzinktem Stahl, aluminiertem oder legierungsaluminiertem Stahl oder von Aluminium oder Aluminiumlegierungen, die zu mindestens 50 Atomprozent aus Aluminium bestehen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man die Metalloberflächen für eine Zeitdauer im Bereich von 1 bis 8 Minuten mit einer Phosphatierungslösung nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 7 in Kontakt bringt, die eine Temperatur im Bereich von 30 bis 70 °C aufweist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man Metalloberflächen ausgewählt aus Oberflächen von aluminiertem oder legierungsaluminiertem Stahl oder von Aluminium oder Aluminiumlegierungen, die zu mindestens 50 Atomprozent aus Aluminium bestehen, allein oder zusammen mit Oberflächen von Stahl, verzinktem oder legierungsverzinktem Stahl mit der Phosphatierungslösung in Kontakt bringt.
