Abstract

Es wird eine Brennkraftmaschine insbesondere für ein Kraftfahrzeug beschrieben. Bei der Brennkraftmaschine wird Kraftstoff von einer Zumesseinheit (15) zu einer Hochdruckpumpe (16) zugeführt. Weiterhin wird Kraftstoff von der Hochdruckpumpe (16) in einen Druckspeicher (17) gefördert. Der von der Zumesseinheit (15) zu der Hochdruckpumpe (16) zugeführte Kraftstoff ist entsprechend der maximalen Förderleistung der Hochdruckpumpe (16) begrenzt. Durch ein Steuergerät (20) wird bei einer Verminderung des Drucks in dem Druckspeicher (17) die Begrenzung des von der Zumesseinheit (15) zugeführten Kraftstoffs überschritten. Weiterhin wird bei einem nachfolgenden Anstieg des Drucks in dem Druckspeicher (17) auf einen Fehler im Bereich vor der Hochdruckpumpe (16) geschlossen.
