Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for operating a direct injection internal combustion engine in a motor vehicle, in which fuel is conveyed at least temporarily simultaneously from at least two high-pressure fuel pumps into at least one fuel manifold. In normal operation of the internal combustion engine, a delivery of fuel by means of a high-pressure fuel pump is switched on and / or off depending on at least one operating variable of the internal combustion engine.
