Claims (24)

  1. A printing device (1) for printing on printing material in the form of a roll, in particular label and/or receipt rolls, comprising
    - a print head unit (4),
    - a transporting device (3) for the printing material,
    - a housing board (6), on which the print head unit (4) and the transporting device (3) are mounted at one end in cantilevered manner and in a predetermined relationship relative to one another,
    - wherein the transporting device (3) comprises a stiff support member (35) which is rigidly connected to the housing board (6), a mounting member (37) which extends substantially parallel relative to the housing board and is held on the stiff support member (35), and at least one transport roller (15) for the transportation of the printing material (2, 2', 2") which is mounted at both ends, characterised in that
    - the stiff support member (35) comprises connecting elements for releasably fixing the mounting member (37) and also guide elements (41) which co-operate with corresponding guide elements (40) of the mounting member (37) for exactly positioning the arrangement with reference to the support member (35), and
    - the first end of the transport roller (15) is mounted at the housing board (6) side and is releasably connected to a drive device (7) whilst the second end of the transport roller (15) is releasably mounted at the mounting member (37) side.
  2. A device in accordance with Claim 1, characterised in that the guide elements of the support member (35) and of the mounting member (37) comprise studs and matching borings.
  3. A device in accordance with Claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the mounting member is a plug-in guide member (37) which is displaceably guided, in snug-fit manner, on the stiff support member (35) perpendicularly relative to the plane of the housing board (6).
  4. A device in accordance with any of the Claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the transport roller (15) comprises two bearing journals, wherein the first bearing journal is mounted in the housing board and the second bearing journal is mounted in the mounting member.
  5. A device in accordance with any of the Claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the mounting member (37) is fixed in lockable and releasable manner by means of a latch (45) formed on the stiff support member (35).
  6. A device in accordance with either of the Claims 1 or 5, characterised in that the transport roller (15) simultaneously forms a print roller (15) for a print head (10) of the print head unit (4) which is adjacent and parallel thereto.
  7. A device in accordance with Claim 6, characterised in that the print head (10) is a thermal print head which rests in resilient manner on the print roller (15) via the heating elements (16) thereof that form a print line.
  8. A device in accordance with any of the Claims 4 to 7, characterised in that the first bearing journal (29) of the transport roller (15) facing the housing board (6) comprises a shaped section thereof (30) which differs from a circular shape and is insertible in play-free, snug-fitting manner into a matching boring (31) of the drive device (32) thereby enabling the transport roller (15) to rotate therewith without slipping.
  9. A device in accordance with any of the Claims 1 to 8, characterised in that the stiff support member (35) is formed from an extruded profile, comprises grooves (36) arranged perpendicularly relative to the housing board (6) for accommodating the mounting member (37) in snug-fitting and slideable manner and comprises two moulded channels (42) in the form of segments of a circle for accommodating centralising studs (41) for fixing the position of the mounting member (37) in a precise manner.
  10. A device in accordance with any of the Claims 1 to 9, characterised in that a leg (39) bent through 90° is formed on the mounting member (37), said leg being provided with at least one centralising boring which is fixed by at least one centralising stud 41 when the mounting member (37) is inserted into the functional position thereof, said centralising stud 41 being pressed into a moulded channel (42) of the support member (35), which channel is in the form of a segment of a circle.
  11. A device in accordance with Claim 10, characterised in that a bush bearing (47), which forms the mounting for the second end (49) of the transport roller (15), is arranged in the leg (39) of the mounting member (37) such as to be aligned with the transport roller (15).
  12. A device in accordance with Claim 10 or 11, characterised in that a recess (46) is formed in the leg (39) of the mounting member (37), and a resilient latch (45) of a moulded member (44) that is fixed in a moulded channel (43) of the support member (35) latches in said recess.
  13. A device in accordance with any of the Claims 1 to 12, characterised in that there is provided a drawing off roller (25) which, by means of one of its bearing journals (33) which has a section (30) thereof that differs from a circular shape, is insertible in snug-fitting, play-free manner into a matching boring (31) in a drive wheel (34) that is mounted in the housing board (6) thereby enabling the drawing off roller (25) to rotate therewith without slipping.
  14. A device in accordance with Claim 13, characterised in that a bush bearing (48) is arranged in the leg (39) of the mounting member (37) such as to be aligned with the drawing off roller (25), wherein said bush bearing forms the mounting for a second bearing journal (50) of the drawing off roller (25).
  15. A device in accordance with Claim 14, characterised in that pilot chamfers (51) are formed on the two bearing journals (29, 49) of the transport roller (15) and on the two bearing journals (33, 50) of the drawing off roller (25), and wherein the two projections (38) are provided with pilot bevels (52).
  16. A device in accordance with any of the Claims 10 to 15, characterised in that, for stiffening purposes, the mounting member (37) comprises a radius-like shaped portion (53) which extends in parallel with the transport roller that serves as a print roller, and a stripping edge (24) for the separation of the self-adhesive labels from the backing strip is formed at the edge of said shaped portion.
  17. A device in accordance with any of the Claims 5 to 16, characterised in that one of the mountings (47) of the transport roller (15) that serves as a print roller is formed such that it is rotatable in sluggish manner and an adjustment cam (56) is formed thereon, wherein the thermal print head (10) rests on said cam in the printing position thereof, and wherein the parallelism of the thermal print head (10) relative to the transport roller (15) is adjustable by rotation of the mounting (47).
  18. A device in accordance with any of the Claims 13 to 17, characterised in that a bush bearing (48), which is rotatable in sluggish manner, is provided for mounting the second bearing journal (50) of the drawing off roller (25), wherein said bush bearing comprises a neck collar (58) that is located eccentrically relative to the mounting position, and wherein the drawing off roller executes a slight pivotal movement about its first bearing journal (59) in the housing board (6) when the bush bearing (48) is rotated.
  19. A device in accordance with Claim 18, characterised in that, by rotation of the bush bearing (48), the path of the printing material (2') through the printer (1) is adjustable in such a manner that the left-hand edge of the backing strip (23) facing the housing board (6) rests on a backing strip stop member (61) that is fixed to the mounting member (37).
  20. A device in accordance with any of the Claims 1 to 19, characterised in that a forked light barrier (62) is mounted in slideable manner on the support member (35) perpendicularly relative to the housing board (6).
  21. A device in accordance with Claim 20, characterised in that the forked light barrier (62) is adjustable perpendicularly relative to the housing board (6) by means of a threaded spindle (67).
  22. A device in accordance with any of the Claims 6 to 21, characterised in that the transport roller (15) functioning as a print roller comprises a resilient covering (68) which is provided with a non-stick coating for the purposes of transporting a self-adhesive strip of labels (2") (linerless).
  23. A device in accordance with any of the Claims 1 to 22, characterised in that an upper surface (69) of the support member (35) is provided with a non-stick coating, e.g. PTFE.
  24. A device in accordance with Claim 23, characterised in that two moulded channels (70) are provided on the upper surface (69) for accommodating a deflector plate having a non-stick coating thereon.
