Claims (5)

  1. Method of clamping and releasing flexible plates (02; 58) provided with leading, acute-angled and trailing, approximately right-angled hook-in sections (06; 07; 61, 62), employing a hook-in slot (09) and cylinder trench (03; 59) in a cylinder (01) of a rotary printing press, wherein a plurality of plates (02; 58) are solidly clamped on the circumference of the cylinder (01), characterised in that, by actuating a first damping device (14), the rear hook-in section (07) of a first plate (02) is first released at a first releasing position (X) and at the same time the front hook-in section (61) of a second plate (58) is held firm against the front edge (04) of the cylinder trench (03), and in that, by actuating a second clamping device (16), only the clamped-in front hook-in section (06) of the first plate (02) is subsequently released at a second releasing position (Y) and a rear hook-in section (62) of the second plate (58) is held firm by the clamping device (16).
  2. Method according to claim 1, characterised in that the clamping of the first plate (02) by means of the clamping devices (14; 16) takes place in the reverse order.
  3. Method according to claim 1, characterised in that the clamping device (14; 16) is actuated by means of a positioning means (27).
  4. Method according to claim 3, characterised in that the positioning means (27) is in the form of an air tube (27) to which compressed air can be supplied.
  5. Method according to claim 4, characterised in that the air tube (27) can have two different pressures supplied to it.
