Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a retractable blade cutting device with a blade and a handle in which it is likely to retract.
  • Retractable blade cutters having a blade sliding in a slide handle are well known.
  • instruments of this type called cutter, allow cutting the paper, cardboard or any other material generally in the form of sheets or plates.
  • a problem that arises and that aims to solve the present invention is then to achieve a retractable blade cutting device or the blade is retracts into the sleeve before the clumsy user wears the device against him or against any other person.
  • the invention proposes different means implementing a kinematic different automatic return of the blade in its retracted position in the body of the cutter.
  • said controllable displacement means have a first part protruding out of the handle to control them, and a second part dividing into two symmetrical branches facing one another, capable of overlapping the upper part of said blade support means at least in said intermediate portion and the end bearing the blade of said support means blade, the branches being able to bear on the bearing surfaces of ergot forming means.
  • the second part of the moving means commandably, must necessarily allow the passage of the first end of the blade support means and a fortiori the blade for them to retract under the effect of the elastic means when the means of movement are kept in working position.
  • said branches of said second part of said controllable displacement means are inclined relative to the other and with respect to a plane of symmetry that separates them, and the walls side of said upper part of said intermediate part constitute areas of friction against which the branches are likely to apply to deviate from each other when said medium supports blade are driven to said controllable displacement means, and disengage said ergot means.
  • the second part of controllable means of displacement forms a flared fork whose inner wall of the branches, at least in their median position, comes into support against the upper side walls of the intermediate part.
  • the end of the branches is likely to be engaged in means forming a driving abutment located in the lower part of the intermediate part, when the blade support means are in the first working position.
  • the second part of said means controllable movements between the branches from which that part upper part of said intermediate part is likely to be engaged constitutes said support means capable of blocking said means blade supports in said second working position. So when the blade is applied against the surface to be cut and that the moving means controllable are held in their working position, the walls upper side of the intermediate part are embedded between the branches of the fork and spread them apart, but they also allow, as will be explained in more detail later in the description, the locking in translation of the blade support means relative to the means controllable displacement.
  • said first elastic return means are constituted by a helical spring, which causes the blade support means in the rest position when they are free from the fork.
  • the device further comprises second elastic return means capable of maintaining said means of displacement controllable in a rest position.
  • the blade support means and the controllable displacement means are likely to be obtained by molding.
  • FIG. 1 illustrates a cutting device according to the invention in a state of rest. It consists of a handle 10 and a blade 12 retracted in the sleeve 10.
  • the blade 12 is mounted at the end 14 of means blade supports 16 or blade holder, which extend longitudinally according to their axis A.
  • the blade holder 16 is slidable inside the sleeve 10 along its longitudinal axis A to remove the blade 12 to the open end 18 of the handle 10 and it is maintained in a first rest position, as illustrated in Figure 1, by a coil spring 19.
  • the blade holder 16 has an intermediate portion 20 and a second guide end 22, allowing both the guidance in translation of the blade holder 16 and the maintenance of the blade 12 relative to the 10.
  • the handle has a longitudinal housing 24, oriented towards the open end 18 of the handle 10, in which is inserted the blade holder 16 so as to guide it in translation.
  • the cutting device comprises moving means controllable 26, having a first portion 28, or slider, protruding out of the handle 10 and a second portion 30 dividing in two symmetrical branches which will be detailed in the rest of the description and which overlaps the upper portion 32 of the blade holder 16 to extend to view of the lower portion 34 of the blade holder 16.
  • the second part 30 is situated with regard to the intermediate portion of the blade holder 16.
  • the lower portion 34 of the door blade 16 has, in the intermediate portion 20 means forming an abutment training 36 which will also be detailed in the following description.
  • controllable displacement means are represented on the Figure 1, in their rest position and they are likely to be moved parallel to the handle 10 on which they are mounted and substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis A of the blade holder 16. Moreover, they are held in their rest position by a helical spring 38.
  • FIG. 5 shows the controllable displacement means 26 comprising the first portion 28 forming a slider, capable of being driven by the fingers of the hand and the 30 second part dividing into two symmetrical arms 30 a and 30 b relative to a plane P and facing each other. It is understood that the first portion 28 is located outside the handle 10 and the second portion 30 is inserted into the handle 10.
  • the branches 30 a and 30 b each have an end 39 and a middle portion 40 and 42 inclined relative to each other and relative to the plane P which separates them, so that the second portion 30 forms a substantially fork flared.
  • the branches 30 a and 30 b are resiliently movable with respect to each other perpendicularly to the plane P and more particularly, they may be spaced apart from each other and return to their original position when the stress ceases. This characteristic is obtained by producing the controllable displacement means 26 made of plastic, for example polyamide.
  • the controllable displacement means 26 cooperate with the blade support means 16 or blade holder, which are illustrated in FIG. perspective in Figure 6 and that will now be described in more detail.
  • the first end, without blade, is extended by the intermediate portion 20, itself extended by the second guide end 22.
  • the intermediate portion 20 comprises the means forming a drive abutment 36, located in the lower portion 34 of the Of course, identical drive abutment means 36 are symmetrically located on the opposite side wall.
  • FIG. 6A a detail view from below, illustrates the means forming a drive abutment 36 integral with the intermediate portion 20 which itself is extended by the first end 14.
  • the abutment means 36 constitute an ergot whose bearing face 44 is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis A of the blade support 16.
  • the lug 36 is located against the side face of the intermediate portion 20 near the edge that the first end 14 extends. In this way, the intermediate portion 20 has a lateral bearing face 46, against which the leg 30b of the second portion 30 of the controllable displacement means is applicable.
  • FIG. 6 also shows the second end 22, which prolongs the intermediate part, with a profile of the type "IPE" so as to stiffen and facilitate guidance.
  • the side walls of said portion 32 of said intermediate portion 20 are slightly truncated by to form inclined surfaces 48 symmetrical with respect to the plane T, on each side of the blade holder 16. These inclined surfaces 48 constitute areas of friction against which the branches are likely to apply as explained in the rest of the description in reference Figures 7A and 7B.
  • FIG 7A shows the blade holder 16 in cross-section at the lugs 36, and the controllable displacement means 26, the second portion 30 of which coincides with the blade holder 16 by overlapping it, in a first stable equilibrium position.
  • the inclined surfaces 48 which are applied against the inner wall of the inclined middle portions 40, 42 of the branches 30 a and 30 b, and its end 39 which is applied to the lateral support faces 46. in this position, as will be explained with reference to Figure 1, the edge of the end 39 of the branches 30 a and 30 b is located opposite the bearing faces 44 of the lugs 36.
  • the inclined surfaces 48 are driven against the inner walls of the middle inclined portions 40 and 42, and slides by rubbing against them by spreading the branches 30 a and 30 b, since the width of the intermediate portion 20 is constant and the fork formed by the branches 30 a and 30 b is flared.
  • the end 38 of the branches 30 a and 30 b comes off the lateral bearing faces 46 so that the edges of ends 39 disengage from the bearing faces 44 of the lugs 36 and the locking in translation of the blade holder 16 with respect to the controllable movement means 26 is no longer ensured by the cooperation of lugs 36 and the edges of the end 39 of the branches 30 a and 30 b.
  • Figure 1 illustrates the cutting device according to the invention at rest.
  • the blade holder 16 is located in a first rest position corresponding to a position in which the blade 12 is retracted. In this position, the controllable displacement means 26 are also in a rest position. And the position of the second part 30 of the controllable displacement means 26 with respect to the blade holder 16, is that shown in FIG. 7A.
  • the ends 39 of the branches 30 a and 30 b are then bearing against the side faces of support 46 and edge faces of the bearing surfaces 44 of the lugs 36.
  • This first working position corresponds to a second position of rest, and this is only in a second working position illustrated on the FIG. 3 in which the blade 12 is applied against the surface to be cut that the actual cutting takes place.
  • the inner wall of the middle portions 40, 42 frictionally locks the intermediate portion 20 and thus the longitudinal displacement of the blade holder 16.
  • the blade holder 16 is released in translation by the edges of ends 39 which cooperate with the pins and blocked in translation by the inclined middle portions 40 and 42 of branches 30 a and 30 b.
  • This second working position is maintained as long as the blade 12 is held against the surface to be cut, and the slider 28 is held in position.
  • the blade support 16 is no longer forcibly displaced against the inner wall of the middle portions 40, 42, and it moves from the second position working to a second intermediate position due to the approximation of the branches 30 a and 30 b of one towards the other.
  • the middle portions 40, 42 do not block more translationally blade carrier 16 and the pins 36 do not engage the legs 30 a and 30 b.
  • the blade support is driven into the first rest position, as shown in FIG. 4.
  • the slider 28 is held in position , the blade is retracted.
  • the blade support means have fork means and controllable means of displacement present a part able to cooperate with said fork means, and in particular they comprise ergot forming means.
