Definitions
- the invention relates to an injection system according to the type mentioned in the preamble of patent claim 1.
- the invention is based on DE 40 02 393 A1. This document shows a fuel injection system that is typically used today in motor vehicles.
- Hydrocarbons are currently the main component of fuel for internal combustion engines. HC emissions occur in fuel injection systems due to leaks at connection points and diffusion of fuel components through plastics and elastomers such as fuel hoses and seals.
- the task is to present a fuel injection system which guarantees consistently low HC emissions of the components close to the engine for the life of the engine and is easy to manufacture.
- the fuel-carrying, engine-related components of a fuel injection system today consist of one or more fuel rail with fuel supply and return, at least one injection valve and at least one fuel pressure regulator and their fastening and sealing elements.
- Repairs can be carried out in a simple manner by claim 2 on all components of the fuel injection system close to the internal combustion engine. It is not necessary to replace all components close to the internal combustion engine in the event of defects in order to ensure system tightness. By claim 3, repairs are even easier and cheaper, since the lid can be assembled several times.
- Well-known and commercially available materials such as silicone rubber or polyurethane rubber are again used as sealing materials.
- a positive aspect of claim 4 is that no hydrocarbons that have diffused out of the fuel injection system near the internal combustion engine accumulate in the interior of the capsule, since during operation of the internal combustion engine these are immediately sucked off by the negative pressure in the suction channel and fed to the internal combustion engine for combustion.
- connection points are particularly susceptible to leaks due to, for example, mechanical vibrations or thermal voltages.
- known and commercially available materials such as silicone rubber or polyurethane rubber are used as sealing materials.
- Suction system and housing are made from the same material in just one operation, for example using the injection molding process. This solution is particularly economical.
- Fig. 1 Components of a fuel injection system close to the internal combustion engine
- Fig. 2 sectional drawing of an encapsulated fuel injection system.
- FIG. 1 shows the components of a fuel injection system that are usually used for an internal combustion engine today. These consist of a fuel distribution channel 1, with a fuel inlet 2 and a fuel outlet 3, a fuel pressure regulator 4 and four fuel injection valves 5, 5 ' . Each fuel injection valve 5, 5 ' is fastened to the fuel rail 1 with a fastening element 6, 6 ' . The electrical control takes place via an electrical feed line 7. In the vicinity of the fuel outlet nozzle 8, 8 ' , a sealing element 9, 9 ' also serves to mechanically fasten the system.
- FIG. 2 shows a sectional drawing through an encapsulated fuel injection system close to the internal combustion engine.
- the fuel distributor duct 1 is installed with the fuel injection valve 5 in a suction duct 10 of an internal combustion engine, not shown here.
- the fuel injection valve 5 is pressed with the fastening element 6 into the fuel distribution channel 1 and with the sealing element 9 into a bore 11 of the suction channel 10.
- the electrical supply line 7 is connected to the fuel injection valve 5 by a non-visible detachable connection.
- a capsule 12 encloses the components of the fuel injection system that are close to the internal combustion engine, including those that cannot be seen here, such as the fuel inlet, fuel outlet and fuel pressure regulator.
- the capsule 12 is essentially formed from the suction channel 10, a housing 13 and a cover 14.
- the housing 13 is made in one piece with the suction channel 10.
- Between housing 13 and cover 14 is a circumferential sealing plane with seal 15.
- the connection between housing 13 and cover 14 is detachable, so that repairs to the components of the fuel injection system near the engine can be carried out at any time.
- the interior is connected to the suction channel 10 by a hollow profile 16.
- the capsule 12 and all seals are diffusion-tight for hydrocarbons.
- a further embodiment variant is to fasten the capsule 12 and the necessary seals to a cylinder head in order to minimize the HC emissions even with injection close to the cylinder or direct injection into the combustion chamber.
