  • Each mechanical locking mechanism has an extendible and retractable arm 530 that extends when the mechanical locking mechanism is disengaged and the attendant is reclining the seat (Fig. 34).
  • right and left releasable lock mechanisms are mounted on a respective upper base frame member 510 and extend to a respective seat supporting tube 516.
  • the extendable arm 530 is mounted to the seat supporting tilt tube 516. Consequently, the arm 530 extends when the seat supporting tube 516 reclines, and retracts when the seat supporting tube 516 reclines.
  • This particular embodiment of a locking mechanism serves to maintain the relative positions of the seat supporting tube and the upper base frame tube, and to interconnect the seat supporting structure with the base frame.
  • the seat back is releasably mounted onto the back posts and the seat bottom is releasably mounted onto the seat supporting tubes.
  • the seat of the present embodiment has different mounting brackets than the seat illustrated in Fig. 18 in conjunction with another embodiment of the invention.

  • the frame is laterally collapsible and the backpost is foldable onto the seat supporting tube.

Abstract

Chaise roulante à siège inclinable, présentant une partie de base et une partie dorsale. La chaise roulante présente également un cadre comportant une portion inférieure sur laquelle sont attachées des roues, et une portion sensiblement verticale s'étendant vers le haut à partir de la portion inférieure. L'arrière du siège est attaché à une portion sensiblement verticale du cadre. La chaise roulante présente un premier mode pour s'asseoir normalement, selon lequel la portion inférieure sensiblement horizontale supporte la portion de base du siège. Le siège présente également un second mode, avec inclinaison, selon lequel le siège est incliné vers l'arrière par rapport à la position normale. La partie de base et la partie dorsale du siège et la portion sensiblement verticale du cadre sont pivotées ensemble, de manière à basculer le siège en position étendue. La portion inférieure du siège est montée pivotante sur la portion inférieure du cadre, de telle sorte que ladite portion inférieure du cadre demeure sensiblement en place lorsque le siège lui-même est basculé, et ne bascule pas avec le siège. Le siège peut être retiré du cadre, et le cadre peut être adapté de manière à se replier et/ou s'affaisser en vue d'avoir un rangement compact. D'autres formes d'exécution comprennent des moyens tels que des supports, permettant au dos du siège de coulisser par rapport aux montants arrière, sans l'aide de ressorts internes pour ces montants. Selon une autre variante, le siège est supporté par des éléments qui sont entraînés en rotation, conjointement avec les montants arrière, lorsque le siège s'incline.
