Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a spraying device for applying a liquid in a printing press according to the preamble of claim 1 and to a method for applying a liquid in a printing press according to the preamble of claim 14.
  • Offset printing machines usually include a blanket cylinder, which prints the images of a printing plate on a web, z. B. a paper web transmits.
  • the blanket arranged on the blanket cylinder usually has a printing outer layer of rubber.
  • US Pat. No. 5,388,510 discloses a spray dampening unit for a printing machine which has spray nozzles arranged in the axial direction along the surface of a roller to be moistened, wherein the individual spray nozzles can be partially covered by respective panels.
  • this device has the disadvantage that the respective apertures of the individual nozzles must be synchronized in a mechanical or electrical manner to z. B. side areas of the roller not to wet with the spray generated by the nozzle.
  • US 5,257,578 discloses an automatic cleaning apparatus for cleaning blankets in a web-fed rotary offset printing machine.
  • a brush roller is optionally attached to the blanket to remove foreign matter from the blanket.
  • a washing solution is applied to improve the cleaning effect.
  • the wash solution for such cleaning devices is typically applied through a spray bar which applies a cleaning solution or solvent through a series of holes distributed across the entire width of the brush. In this way, the cleaning solution is applied over the brush on the entire blanket during the cleaning process. If the web in the printing press is as wide as the blanket, it is desirable that the blanket be cleaned across its entire width.
  • narrower webs are printed in an offset printing press.
  • a 76.2 cm (30 inch) wide web can be printed on the same press if the final product to be produced requires it .
  • the cleaning solution is still applied by the spray bar washing system across the entire width of the brush and the blanket cylinder. Because many cleaning systems require the web to remove debris during the wash cycle, the 76.2 cm wide web is insufficient to remove the debris and spent cleaning solution in the areas beyond the web width. In these areas cleaning solution is thus applied, which is not removed again from the web. Accordingly, cleaning solution is applied to an approximately 68 cm (27 inch) wide blanket of the blanket cylinder, although there is no web in this area.
  • EP 0 618 074 A2 describes a spraying device for spraying liquids in a printing press.
  • the spray device comprises two nozzles movable axially with respect to a printing cylinder.
  • the liquid can be used to clean a blanket.
  • the nozzles are automatically controlled and can be moved axially over the entire width or depending on the material to be printed over part of the desired width of the blanket cylinder.
  • the device described in this document has the disadvantage that the desired width of the blanket is not sprayed at once, but in sections, by moving the nozzles axially. Therefore, it takes more time to spray a desired width.
  • the movement and control of the nozzles also requires a complicated arrangement that is susceptible to interference and contamination.
  • DE 91 09 7214 discloses a spraying device according to the preamble of claim 1. An adjustment of the width of the spray area along the spray bar is not possible.
  • a spraying device for applying a liquid, in particular a cleaning solution, to a component in a printing press, wherein the spraying device comprises a spray bar with at least one outlet opening and a rotatable spray aperture for at least partially covering the at least one outlet opening, and wherein the spray bar substantially parallel to the component, in particular substantially over the width of the component extending, is arranged, wherein the spray orifice a substantially has parallel to the spray bar aligned axis of rotation, is characterized in that the spray orifice has at least one opening with dependent on the respective rotational position of the spray orifice width for adjusting the width of a Sprüh Symposiums along the spray bar.
  • the spray device effects a simple and effective adjustment of the width of the spray area by the axis of rotation of the spray orifice, which is oriented substantially parallel to the spray bar, and by the at least one opening of the spray orifice, which has a width dependent on the respective rotational position of the spray orifice.
  • the apparatus has a reduced susceptibility to errors due to the low number of technical means used compared with the prior art, but at the same time allows to set or determine a desired width of the spray area with sufficiently high precision.
  • z For example, with a single spray orifice, it is advantageous to cover a plurality of openings in the spray bar, and so e.g. Side areas of the component in the press are excluded from the spraying process.
  • Another advantage of a device according to the invention is that it builds very compact by the parallel alignment of the spray bar and the axis of rotation of the spray diaphragm and thus can be easily installed or retrofitted in printing units, which have only very confined interiors.
  • the at least one outlet opening and the at least one opening are preferably located at one end or at both ends of the spray bar, so that a width of the spray area is adjustable. It is to be understood with the ends of the spray bar, the respective end portion of the extending in the axial direction spray bar, which may be located at the one and at the other end of the spray bar in the presence of multiple openings in the spray bar. This will make it in advantageously possible to limit the spray area of the spray bar from the sides, for example symmetrically to an imaginary center line.
  • the spray bar is preferably at least as wide as the component of the printing press.
  • a spray bar having a width at least equal to the width of the component of the printing machine to be sprayed allows the component, e.g. to spray evenly over its entire width.
  • the spray orifice may also extend at least over the entire width of the component and thus make it possible to adjust the width of the spray area over this width.
  • the component of the printing machine may be formed as a cleaning brush for a blanket or as a blanket of an offset printing machine.
  • the at least one outlet opening is formed as a plurality of bores, and that the part to be concealed of the at least one outlet opening is at least one of the bores, which is arranged at one end or at both ends of the spray bar.
  • these are preferably arranged at the same distance from each other and extend over the entire width of the spray bar, so that by turning the spray hood, for example. successive holes can be covered from the end portions of the spray bar to an imaginary center of the spray bar, thereby defining an effective spray area.
  • the at least one opening may be formed as a single opening with at least one oblique edge.
  • the oblique edge of the opening in the rotatable spray orifice allows the effective spray area of the device to be adjusted since the oblique edge of the orifice in the spray orifice has different axial extensions in different rotational positions of the spray orifice.
  • the spray orifice may comprise two cylinders, each having an opening.
  • the two cylinders can preferably only the end portions of a common spray bar However, it is also possible that the two cylinders extend together over the entire width of the spray bar and, for example, border or abut one another in the region of an imaginary center of the spray bar.
  • the two cylinders are preferably located at the respective ends of the spray bar and separated from a non-concealable area of the spray device.
  • the spray orifice can be manually adjustable.
  • an automatic adjustment device for adjusting the rotational position of the spray diaphragms may also be provided.
  • a sensor may further be provided for determining the web width and for generating a feedback to the automatic setting device.

  • a web is preferably passed over the center of a blanket cylinder.
  • a substantially center-centered guidance of the web over the blanket cylinder it is advantageously possible to carry out the method according to the invention such that side areas of the blanket cylinder to be cleaned, for example, remain unwetted outside an effective spray area.
  • the width of the effective spray area substantially with the width of the web, for example a material or paper web, match.
  • the web may be passed over one side of a blanket cylinder.
  • the method according to the invention and with a device according to the invention it is possible to leave the region of the blanket cylinder, which is not in contact with the web, unsprayed.
