Abstract

The coupler for connecting containers comprises a support (19) positioned between the containers and resting against their faces. Clips (20, 21) are positioned on opposite sides of the support. These grip the corners (14, 15) of the containers.

Description

5.The invention relates to a coupling piece for connecting containers according to the 5. The preamble of claim 1 and 5 respectively.

Dome pieces of the type mentioned here are used to carry containers on board To connect ships. A special feature occurs when connecting 20 'containers that stowed on a parking space for 40 'containers. In this case, each two 20 'containers in succession, that is with facing end faces, stowed in a parking space of 40 'containers. The outer dimensions of the two successive To do this, 20 'containers must correspond to those of a 40' container. The result is that two consecutive face ends face each other 20 'container only a very narrow gap remains. That requires a special one Peculiarity of the connection of the stacked 20 'containers or special designed dome pieces.

It is known to connect 20 'containers in the space of 40' containers different dome pieces, in the area of the narrow joint between neighboring end faces of 20 'containers special coupling pieces (so-called Midlocks) can be used.

It is also known from WO 96/15052 A to have consecutive 20 'containers the parking space of 40 'containers through the same coupling pieces with actuating means connect. These are dome pieces with specially trained ones Coupling projections. The placement of the knobs at the ends is critical here the actuating means in the narrow gap between two successive 20 'containers. The abutments of the known coupling pieces have short projections on that slightly in the narrow gap between one behind the other Protrude 20 'containers. The abutments of adjacent coupling pieces between the consecutive 20 'containers are not long enough to hold each other support. This can mean that the gap between one behind the other 20 'containers is smaller than usual. Then the knobs of the actuators between transverse edges of stacked and stacked 20 'containers clamped, but they can be damaged, including the Function of the known coupling pieces suffers. In addition, in WO 96/15052 A Dome pieces are shown, which are reversed on one end of the 20 'container opposite the Coupling pieces must be arranged on the other end. This is imperative ahead that the dome pieces are placed correctly. Through inevitable misplacement of the dome pieces, the containers can only be placed under large ones Solve problems from each other. The manageability of these known coupling pieces will thereby making it difficult.

Starting from the above, the invention is therefore based on the object Coupling pieces for in particular the area of application described at the beginning create the simpler compared to previously known coupling pieces of this type are manageable and have an improved function.

3 Zoll.A coupling piece for solving this problem has the features of claim 1. The fact that the abutment opposite the front of the container to be connected by about half the width of the joint between mutually facing end faces adjacent container protrudes, it is ensured that the joint between facing each other End faces in a row on the parking space of a 40 'container placed 20 'container is always so large that from the coupling piece towards the side the joint protruding between the end faces of the 20 'container in this fugue find a place. It also ensures that after connecting the lower corner fittings of the uppermost containers the upper corner fittings of the same one have such a distance that further containers can be placed thereon and also whose actuating means still have sufficient space in the joint. The above Abutments of the opposite coupling pieces then bridge about entire joint between the adjacent end faces of the containers. The result is that when 20 'containers are continuously stacked on top of each other, the gap between them is always approximately the same width, in particular has a width that is between two consecutive 20 'containers if this is in the parking space of a 40' container to be placed. This gap is usually about 76 mm or 3 inches.

The containers are not only spaced apart by the abutments protruding into the joint held; rather, they are supported in such a way that they do not or do not move in the sea not twist significantly.

The part protruding into the joint and protruding from the front of the container the abutment is chamfered towards its free end, preferably such that when lowering a container onto the container below projecting part of the already located between two adjacent containers Abutment of another coupling piece slipped and from the above Parts of the abutments of the coupling pieces on the mutually facing end faces neighboring container the usual width of the joint between these containers is produced, with mutually facing projecting transverse edges on the Abutment of the coupling pieces between successive end-face containers support each other.

Another coupling piece to achieve the above object has the Features of claim 5. The or each recess makes it possible, despite the partial collision of the facing transverse edges of the above Parts of the abutments are the parts of the actuating means that protrude from the coupling pieces in the joint between two neighboring containers.

The respective franking is preferably off-center in relation to the end faces of the Container protruding area of the abutment arranged. This makes it possible to parts of the actuating means protruding from the housing are both in the area of Two 20 'containers supporting the joint between facing end faces To accommodate dome pieces side by side in the joint, reducing the risk a collision of the actuating means of adjacent coupling pieces is eliminated.

The coupling piece 10 shown in the figures is suitable, among other things, for connecting of 20 'containers on the parking spaces of 40' containers. Here, two in a part of the figures shown in dash-dot-lined 20 'container 11 one behind the other arranged so that between two mutually facing end faces 12 20 'container 11 a narrow joint 13 is formed, which is usually about 76 mm or Is 3 inches.

Stacked 20 'containers 11 are together at their corner fittings 14, 15 connected, namely between an upper corner fitting 14 of a lower one Containers 11 and a lower corner fitting 15 of an upper container 11. With the same trained coupling pieces 10 are the lying on both sides of the joint 13 Corner fittings 14 and 15 on mutually facing end faces 12 of the containers 11 and the outer end faces of the 20 ′ container 11, not shown in the figures connected with each other.

The coupling piece 10 has a two-part housing 16. The housing 16 is in the middle divided by a vertical parting plane 17 formed by two symmetrically Half of the housing runs in a plane that is perpendicular to the respective end face 12 the container 11 is directed. The housing halves are by screws 18 connected to each other to form the housing 16.

In the outer shape, the housing 16 has one in a horizontal plane extending abutment 19, the one to be connected, one above the other 20 'container 11 is located between corner fittings 14 and 15. From Abutment 19 extends upwards a coupling projection 20 and downwards Coupling projection 21. These are designed differently. The upper coupling protrusion 20 has an approximately square central part 22, which extends through the lower Elongated hole 23 of the lower corner fitting 15 of the upper 20 'container 11 extends. The square middle part is dimensioned somewhat smaller than the width of the elongated hole 23. By the square cross section, the coupling piece 10 is longitudinally displaceable in the elongated hole 23, specifically to the end face 12 of the respective 20 ′ container 11 or from the end face 12 path. Above the middle part 22, the upper coupling projection 20 has a integrally connected cross bar 24, the opposite sides of the Middle part 22 protrudes transversely to the parting plane 17 to the outside. Im locked State of the coupling piece 10 engage behind the outside opposite the central part 22 projecting sections of the cross bar 24 in some areas the parallel long sides of the elongated hole 23, namely from the inside of the corner fitting 15.

The lower coupling projection 21 has a central part, which is approximately an upper one Fills slot 26 in the upper corner fitting 14 of the lower 20 'container 11. The The central part 25 is extended by a projection 27 which is approximately the width of the central part 25 and thus corresponds to the elongated hole 26. Seen from the side (Fig. 4), the tapers Projection 27 towards the free end of the lower coupling projection 21.

In the lower coupling projection 21 there is an elongated locking slide 28 slidably mounted. A vertical central plane of the locking slide 28 lies on the vertical parting plane 17 between the two housing halves of the housing 16. A longitudinal central axis of the locking slide 28 runs opposite to the Horizontal slightly inclined, in such a way that one from the lower coupling projection 21 to form a locking projection 30 extendable end of Locking slide 28 is slightly inclined downwards, that is when the Locking slide 28 from the lower coupling projection 21 Locking projection 30 removed from the bottom of the abutment 19.

At the bottom of the locking slide 28 is an inside of the lower one Coupling projection 21 lying, projecting stop 31 is arranged. The attack 31 is located in an elongated groove 32 on the underside of a franking 33 Inclusion of the locking slide 28 in the lower coupling projection 21. The groove 32 is dimensioned such that it the displacement of the locking slide 28 in lower coupling projection 21 limited, in such a way that on the one hand the locking slide 28 can be extended as far out of the lower coupling projection 21, that the locking projection 30 is sufficiently opposite the lower one Coupling projection 21 protrudes while on the other hand in the fully retracted State of the locking slide 28, the locking projection 30 almost completely is located within the lower coupling projection 21.

On a rear projection 34 facing away from the locking projection 30 Locking slide 28 provided with a blind hole 35. Another blind hole 36 is based on a rear side 37 of the franking 33 in the lower coupling projection 21 arranged. Opposing ones are supported in the blind bores 35, 36 Ends of a compression spring 38 between the lower coupling projection 21 and the Locking slide 28 from. By means of the compression spring 38, the locking slide 28 in its locking position with a maximum of the lower coupling projection 21 protruding locking projection 30 pressed.

In the housing 16 is above the franking 33 further one with the same in Connected free space 39 arranged. The runs through the center of the free space 39 Parting plane 17, so that one half of the free space 39 through one of the two Halves of the housing 16 is formed. In the free space 39 is a double-armed lever 40 arranged. An axis of rotation 41 extends through the center of the lever 40 runs perpendicular to the parting plane 17 and thus extends transversely through the free space 39 extends. The lever 40 is about the axis of rotation 41 in the opposite direction pivotable.

A downward-pointing lever arm 42 of the lever 40 projects into a corresponding one Indentation 43 in the locking slide 28. An opposite lever arm 44 the lever 40 is connected to an actuating means, which is shown in the Embodiment is a rope 45. The rope 45 is through a through the middle Parting plane 17 and the abutment 19 extending, horizontally directed guide bore 55 from a transverse wall facing the end faces 12 of the 20 ′ container 11 46 of the abutment 19 led out. The rope 45 to form the actuating means protrudes laterally with an actuating end 47 from the transverse wall 46 of the Abutment 19 out. A free portion of the actuation end 47 is limited by a handle, namely a knob 48. Is the rope 45 of the actuating means with the Pulled knob 48 out of the abutment 19, the lever 40 (in the case of the illustration in Fig. 4) pivoted clockwise and the locking slide 28 pulled against the force of the compression spring 38 in the housing 16, to the extent that the locking projection 30 substantially completely in the lower coupling projection 21 disappears.

The abutment 19 is designed in a special way. It is at the end of actuation 47 of the rope 45 extended, and so far that it is opposite the end faces 12 of the projecting to be connected (one above the other) 20 'container 11 (Fig. 1 to 3). Preferably the abutment 19 protrudes from the end faces 12 of the 20 ′ container 11 or the upright walls of the corner fittings 14 facing the end faces 12, 15 into the joint 13 between adjacent 20 'containers 11 so far that the Transverse wall 46 of each abutment 19 opposite the end face 12 or the corner fittings 14, 15 by half the width of the usual joint 13 between the 20 'containers 11, i.e. about 38 mm or 1.5 inches. The result is that each abutment 19 to protrudes toward the center of joint 13. When 20 'containers 11 are stacked one on top of the other, then lie in the Area of their mutually facing end faces 12, the transverse walls 46 of the above Abutment 19 opposite coupling pieces 10 approximately to each other. Due to the abutment 19 protruding into the joint 13, the distance between the mutually facing end faces 12 of the stacked 20 ′ containers 11 always kept constant on the usual width of the joint 13 of about 76 mm or 3 inches. At the same time, the containers 11 are supported on the adjacent coupling pieces 10 Adjacent container stack, whereby the loads that the container 11 in Sea conditions are limited.

Opposing sides of the transverse walls 46 of the opposite end faces 12 of the container 11 protruding abutments 19 are bevelled, namely with Slide surface 53 provided. The sliding surfaces 53 ensure that when the second 20 'container 11 on the underlying container 11 the above Areas of the abutments 19 slide past each other when the distance of the facing one another End faces 12 of the 20 ′ container 11 are smaller than the usual width of the joint 13 is. The upper 20 ′ containers 11 to be placed on the lower 20 ′ containers 11 become So guided by the abutments 19 protruding into the joint 13, in such a way that inevitably results in the joint 13 with the corresponding width.

The abutment 19 has a recess 54 which is at least opposite one another the corner fittings 14 and 15 projecting (protruding into the joint 13) area. The recess 54 is located on one side next to the vertical longitudinal central axis of the coupling piece through which the parting plane 17 of the two housing halves of the Housing 16 runs (Fig. 3). The recess 54 also extends into a Area of exit of the rope 45 from the transverse wall 46 of the abutment 19. This Exit of the rope 45 from the abutment 19 is also off-center in relation to the Partition plane 17 is located on the essential part of the recess 54 opposite side of the parting plane 17. For this purpose is a guide hole 55 of the rope 45 (in plan view of the coupling piece 10) in from the transverse wall 46 opening end portion 56 provided with an arcuate course (Fig. 3).

Through the recess 54 in the part of the abutment 19 protruding into the joint 13 in Connection with the curved end region 56 of the guide bore 55 is achieved that in the area of the joint 13 between adjacent end faces 12 of the successive 20 'container 11 and the 180 ° rotated arrangement of neighboring Coupling pieces 10 with the same protruding actuating end 47 of the cables 45 the knobs 48 are guided past one another into the recesses 54 Dome pieces 10, with part of the knobs 48 in the end faces 12 of the 20 'container 11 assigned elongated holes 51 of the corner fittings 14 and 15 protrude (Fig. 2 and 3). In this way, the actuating ends 47 are accommodated without damage and the knobs 48 of the actuating means for the coupling pieces 10 in the narrow joint 13 20'containers 11 consecutive between end faces 12 facing one another guaranteed. By a corresponding sequence when stowing the 20 'container 11 it is achieved that the actuating end 47 with the knob 48 of a coupling piece 10 points downwards into the elongated hole 51 of the upper corner fitting 14 of the lower 20 'container 11, while the actuating end 47 is connected to the knob 48 of the adjacent 20 'container serving dome 10 points upwards in the face-side slot 51 of the lower corner fitting 15 of the upper 20 'container 11 (Fig. 2). Collisions of the actuating ends 47 and the knobs 48 of adjacent coupling pieces 10 in the narrow joint 13 are excluded.

Each coupling piece 10 is further assigned a means for moving the Coupling piece 10 opposite in particular the lower corner fitting 15 of an upper 20 'container 11 in the direction of the joint 13 or the end face 12 of the 20 'container 11 is used. This means also serves to prevent rotation of the Dome piece 10 under the corner fitting 15 and thus to prevent the under the lower corner fitting 15 of a 20 'container 11 pre-locked coupling piece 10. The agent thus has a double function.

For pre-locking the coupling piece 10 under the lower corner fitting 15 of an upper one The 20 'container 11 has the pawl 57 with its long side 62 under an elongated hole 23 surrounding bottom wall 65 of the corner fitting 15. The pawl 57 is located thereby in register with the top 63 of the abutment 19 (Fig. 5). After that Dome piece 10 inserted from below into the slot 23 of the corner fitting 15 and is twisted so that the knob 48 faces the end face 12 of the 20 ′ container 11 the projections of the cross bar 24 on the upper coupling projection 20 den Corner fitting 15 from the inside of the elongated hole 23. This makes the coupling piece 10 partially locked under corner fitting 15. In the following - if necessary after a slight displacement of the coupling piece 10 relative to the corner fitting 15 to the front 12 of the 20 'container 11 - the pawl 57 from the pretensioned Coil spring 59 pivoted (counterclockwise with respect to the Fig. 5). The pawl end 64 automatically comes out of register with the upper side 63 of the abutment 19 and is supported on the inside of the slot 26 in the corner fitting 15 from. The pawl 57 now shifts this during its further pivoting Coupling piece 10 under the corner fitting 15 towards the end face 12 of the 20 'container 11, so far that the middle part 22 of the upper coupling projection 20 is located approximately in front of the end of the elongated hole 23 facing the end face 12 (Fig. 6). In this position of the coupling piece 10 is the projecting part of the Abutment 19 in front of the end face 12 of the 20 'container 11. This also applies to the Actuating end 47 with the knob 48 of the actuating means. This will ensures that when placing the 20 'container 11 with the one below the lower one Corner fitting 15 pre-locked dome 10 on a lower 20 'container 11 that Actuating end 47 and knob 48 are not between the containers 11 to be connected be pinched.
