Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for operating a Calender with at least one nip through one hard roller and a soft roller with elastic surface is formed.
- the invention further relates to a Calender with at least one nip through one hard and a soft roller with an elastic surface is formed.
- Such calenders are used to make a material web, which runs through the nip, with increased pressure and if necessary, to apply an elevated temperature. On the one hand, compression occurs the material web, on the other hand you can with the treatment but also certain surface properties in the nip, such as gloss or smoothness.
- a paper web will be used to explain the invention used as an example for a material web.
- the calendering of a paper web is also the main application the invention.
- the invention is also with other material webs that are similar must be treated, applicable.
- a nip by a soft roller with elastic Surface and a hard roller is formed also called "soft" nip. Because of the different Properties of the two forming the nip Rolls usually result after passing through different surfaces on the soft nip both sides of the paper web.
- the side with the hard roller has shown a very smooth Surface. This is due to the fact that the hard Roller can provide a very smooth surface. It looks different with the elastic roller, whose Surface currently mainly with a plastic covering is formed. It is relatively difficult for that Plastic to convey the desired smoothness.
- the Surface roughness of the plastic is usually far greater than the surface roughness of the hard Roller.
- the plastic covering the soft roller in two layers the outer layer having less elasticity and has a greater hardness than the inner layer.
- the outer layer can be made of a silicone rubber be formed.
- the surface roughness such a soft roller is relative low compared to other soft rollers.
- the invention has for its object the quality to improve the material web.
- This task is carried out in a method of the type mentioned at the beginning Art solved in that the surface of the im Calender built-in soft roller with a polish is provided.
- the surface roughness the soft roller is caused by pores which form in the plastic. With the help of polish these pores are filled and the roller surface is thus smoothed accordingly. As with other polished ones Surfaces too, but can be observed that a roller treated in this way is only for a specific one Time stays smooth. The pores obviously form in operation again, for example, in that polishing through the continuous material web again is removed. If you now built in the roller Condition with the polish, you are able to to apply a wear layer again or again, which is the soft or elastic roller for one can be very smooth for a certain time. This smoothness of the soft roller has a very positive effect on gloss and Smooths out the continuous material web.
- a liquid polishing agent applied to the surface and dried becomes.
- uniform application relatively quickly reach the surface of the roller with the polishing agent.
- the term "liquid” is to be understood broadly here. It can be a pasty mass that is only limited is flowable.
- the polish can, however can also be sprayed in the form of a spray.
- the polishing agent first of all in vapor form and on the surface the soft roller condenses. The step of Drying is recommended to prevent the passing material web contaminated with the polish becomes. In addition, a dried sticks Polish better on the surface.
- the polishing agent on the Surface is applied when it is warm.
- the Heat accelerates the drying process.
- the roller is in the Operation normally warm anyway because of the elastic
- the covering is tumbled during operation and generates heat in the process.
- the polish is preferably smoothed. This can be done in simplest case can be caused by the roller is moved past a polishing device, for example a textile cushion. This improves the Smooth the surface of the soft roller further.
- the calender is preferably used for maintenance purposes shut down during maintenance breaks and the polish will applied outside of the maintenance breaks. With others Words can the polishing agent during the operation of the Calenders are applied so that the surface polish can already be renewed before it reaches that point is worn out that there is increased roughness again shows.
- polish during business interruptions is applied.
- Such business interruptions for example when the paper web is torn off, are undesirable, but cannot be avoid in principle.
- the calender has to be used for a specific one anyway Time to be stopped, for example the demolished one Eliminate paper web. This time you can use polish on the surface of the soft Apply roller. However, the roller is always removed not yet required.
- the polish can be carried out continuously be applied. You can almost achieve that constant conditions on the surface of the soft Roller.
- the polish with Applied using a material web to be calendered in the nip becomes.
- there must be a compatibility between Paper and polish are available so that the quality of the paper web is not affected.
- the polish is applied during the maintenance breaks becomes.
- the calender is in the maintenance breaks stopped, so that the polish also with the help human activity can be safely applied can.
- the task is also the case with a calender of the beginning mentioned type solved in that on the soft roller a polish application device is arranged.
- a polish application device you are in the Location, even with a soft installed in the calender Roller polish to apply to the surface of the to make the soft roller extremely smooth.
- polishing agents can even be used in Operation take place so that the surface is constant Goodness can be kept.
- the polishing agent application device preferably has a dispenser for liquid or pasty polish on.
- the polish can be sprayed on, for example or applied in any other way. Through an im broader sense of liquid polish can be a even application of the surface of the soft Reach the roller.
- the polishing agent application device preferably has one in the direction of rotation of the roller on the dispenser following smoothing device. The polish is then smoothed further.
- nips are hard and soft Rollers and a changing nip with two similar rollers provided, being on all soft rollers behind the changing nipple a polishing agent application device is arranged.
- the web of material, such Calender goes through first with only one side come into contact with hard but extremely smooth rollers. This makes one side of the paper web very smoothed out. However, this page will then be scrolled through the nips behind the alternating gap with the soft ones Rollers come into contact so that the gloss or the Smoothness of this surface is destroyed again. If now on all soft rollers behind the changing nip Orders the polish application device, then stops the surfaces of these soft rollers behind the Change so smooth that at least no deterioration the quality of the surface is to be feared.
- Fig. 1 shows a calender 1 with ten rolls 2-11, the are arranged one above the other in a roll stack.
- the top five rollers 2-6 form a first Group and the bottom five reels 7-11 a second Group. Both groups can also be arranged side by side his.
- the rollers 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11 are so-called soft rollers, i.e. they have an elastic Cover 12 on, while the rollers 3, 5, 8, 10 as so-called hard rollers are formed, the surface of which consists of a metal, for example steel.
- the hard rollers 3, 5, 8, 10 have a very smooth surface.
- a paper web 13 is now passed through nips 14-22, each by two adjacent rollers 2, 3; 3.4 etc. are formed.
- the nips 14-17 and 19-22 designed as so-called soft nips, i.e. she are made of a soft roller and a hard roller limited.
- the middle nip 18, however, is called Exchange nip trained, i.e. it is by two soft rollers 6, 7 formed.
- the paper web 13 is only schematic illustrated guide means, such as guide rollers 23 in the calender guided.
- the paper web is now in the nips of the rollers 2-6
- the first group is run so that the side facing the inlet lies at the top, initially only with the hard rollers 3, 5 comes into contact. This top will be very nice smooth.
- the smoothness of the hard rollers 3, 5 is on the Surface of the paper web shown.
- this soft Rollers 7, 9, 11 of the second group After passing through the alternating gap, this comes Top but in contact with the soft rollers 7, 9, 11 of the second group.
- the surface of this soft Rollers 7, 9, 11 normally have a much larger one Roughness than the surfaces of the hard rollers 3, 5, 8, 10. This usually leads to the relative smooth top of the paper web 13 in the nips the second group is made worse again, d. H. loses its smoothness.
- each soft roller 7, 9, 11 behind the change nip 18th with a polish application device 24, 25, 26 is provided, the polishing agent application device 26 is shown enlarged in FIG. 2.
- the polish application device initially has one Spray nozzle 27, which is a liquid polish, for example a liquid silicone rubber, in Form a fine mist on the surface of the in Sprayed in the direction of an arrow 28 rotating roller 11.
- the roller 11 is warm in operation, so that the polishing agent dries relatively quickly.
- a smoothing device 29 arranged, which smoothes the dried polish, so polished so to speak.
- polishes are used be the surface of the rollers 7, 9, 11 a give extremely smooth surface.
- a wax containing Teflon is also used as a polishing agent use as it is principally from polishing car bodies is known here.
- the roughness of these surfaces is practically the roughness of the hard Rolls 3, 5, 8, 10 adapted.
- the polish middle layer does not have to have a large "stability" have, i.e. it can wear out relatively quickly, because it is constantly being renewed. In certain circumstances it may also be sufficient to apply the polish only in intervals, for example then when you notice some wear Has.
- polishing agent application is that the polish is either like this dries quickly that "contamination" of the paper web 13 is not done, or that the polish with the paper web 13 is compatible, ie no deterioration in quality causes.
