Definitions
- the present invention relates to a modular electrical device with a safety device, e.g. differential switches or circuit breakers, and aims to prevent the padlocking of a device when the contacts have been accidentally welded, notably as a result of a short circuit.
- a safety device e.g. differential switches or circuit breakers
- Lockout is carried out using a lockout kit to lock the device in one of its positions normal operating, contacts open or closed.
- This kit applies to the joystick level, which is by therefore stuck in one of its stable positions corresponding to the aforementioned states. It is fixed to the housing of the device electric via at least one orifice made in a disposed ear along the opening in which said lever moves. Activation of the lockout kit, fixing it to the the apparatus by inserting an organ into at least one of said holes, then allows the installation of a padlock which prohibits to remove said kit.
- the operator then knows in principle the state of the contacts, and can work without any deterioration of this state is to be feared.
- the threshold force must correspond to a rupture of the internal components of the device, otherwise the abutment offset would be ineffective and ineffective in solving the problem posed.
- the drum carrying the handle also has a recess which is arranged to coincide with openings in the side walls of the circuit breaker box, to allow padlocking, and whose positions are offset when the contacts are soldered.
- control handle is blocked at the padlocking when the contacts are soldered to each other.
- the security device of the invention using other solutions techniques than those that have been exposed, is also much more complete than his predecessors. It does not only perform the main function mentioned, namely to prevent lockout, but it also allows in most configurations a signaling of the real state of the contacts, including understood when welded.
- the invention relates to devices electrical, in particular modular, comprising at least one movable contact intended to cooperate with at least one corresponding fixed contact, said contact mobile being integral with a contact carrier connected to a control lever rotatable between two stable rest positions, a first position corresponding to the opening of said contacts and a second position corresponding to the closing of the contacts, said lever moving, in an opening made in one face of the housing of the modular device, the long lateral ears provided with at least one orifice intended to allow a padlocking in one or other of the stable positions of the joystick.
- the security device specific to the invention comprises at least one movable shutter controlled either directly by the movable contact, either by the contact carrier, or even by a mechanism which is linked to one or the other and reflects its displacement, said obturator obstructing the opening in the lateral ear bordering the opening in which the control lever moves when the contacts are soldered, and leaving it clear when the contacts are open or closed.
- the position of the contact carrier or of the movable contact which therefore determines primarily the position of the shutter (s) relative to the orifices provided for lockout. How the shutter works, and that's where resides the main originality of the device of the invention, is totally independent of that of the control lever. Whatever relative configuration of the contacts, optimally reflected by the moving contact or by the contact carrier, the shutter (s) take a position which is according to said configuration. On one occasion, when the contacts are welded, said position results in closing the installation holes of the kit padlocking.
- the lever In the case of soldering of the contacts, the lever can on the other hand return to the stop without altering the anti-lockout function, since there is independence between the respective movements of the lever and of the contact carrier, and therefore the shutter.
- the shutter (s) move preferably in a housing made in at least one of the ears side, provided hollow for this purpose with an opening towards the inside of the modular unit housing.
- the shutter (s) include a surface visible from the outside of the case when they obstruct the orifice (s) padlocking, signaling that the contacts are soldered.
- this or these shutters are coupled to means to hide the inscription, appearing at the level of the box the device, indicating that the contacts are closed, in case of welding of said contact.
- the shutter (s) are movable in rotation around of the axis of rotation of the control handle.
- the security device of the invention consists of a free annular body rotating around a shaft secured to a drum forming the base of the control handle, said annular body comprising at least on the one hand a protrusion forming a guided shutter in the housing of the lateral ear bordering the opening in which moves said lever, and on the other hand a connecting member to the contact carrier or to connection mechanism to the latter or to the movable contact.
- the connecting member to the contact carrier is a rod of radial appearance, the end of which cooperates with said contact carrier.
- This rod connection is then preferably provided, at its free end, with a lug perpendicular to the axis of the rod, in permanent contact with a surface of the contact carrier configured as a ramp, in contact with which said lug can be move 'when the contact carrier moves, transmitting the movement of this last to the shutter.
- the annular body has another protuberance of radial appearance cooperating elastically with an element fixed to the housing of the device, against which it abuts, forming a spring to hold the end of the connecting rod in contact with the contact carrier.
- the protrusions forming shutter, spring and rod connection to the contact carrier are in one piece with the annular body central.
- the part thus defined can be made of plastic, which gives in addition to sufficient elasticity in the spring due to the choice of its shape.
- the connecting member secured to the annular body forming the base of the device of the invention consists of an arm radial with a lug parallel to the axis of rotation around which is connected pivoting the end of a link, the other end of which is also connected by a pivoting link, to an indicator of the state of the contacts, the displacements are directly caused by movements of contact holders to which it is connected.
- This indicator indicating through a window in the housing the modular device near the control lever if the contacts are open or closed, consists of a single piece linked to the contact carrier, it is subject to backlash for the purpose of presenting information supra.
- Their connection can for example be rotary and be carried out using of a pin of the indicator pivoting in a corresponding orifice located in part upper of the contact carrier.
- the link then transmits the movement to the annular body, one of which upper part constitutes the shutter blocking the lockout hole if the contacts are soldered.
- the annular body comprises a link arm to a second shutter guided in the same way in a housing made in the second ear disposed laterally to the opening in which the second moves the control lever, the two shutters being arranged symmetrically on either side of said controller.
- the second shutter then overcomes for example a curvilinear portion placed at the end of said link arm.
- This can be in one piece with the annular body, or be connected to the latter by insertion of its free end between two radial studs protruding from the external surface of said annular body or in an accommodation in the periphery of the latter.
- This link arm connecting the two sides of the control lever, a part of the signaling aspect achieved by the invention and previously mentioned responsibility.
- this arm is straight and disposed relative to the lever so that it can hide the marking on the said handle in the event of contact soldering.
- this link arm can be arranged at the outside of the drum supporting the joystick, or inside thereof, which then comprises a hollow curvilinear portion over at least the relative stroke lever / link arm.
- the housings of the modular elements include in many cases a base on which is fixed a cover on which are inscribed the technical indications relating to the product, and at which level the control lever because said cover faces the user when the device is mounted on its rail.
- FIG. 1 shows a part of a cover (1), in particular revealing an opening (2) in which the control lever moves between two ears (3, 4). These are each provided with a through hole (5, 6) intended for the padlocking, that is to say designed to house a member of the padlocking kit (not shown).
- a signaling window (7) lets appear a surface which indicates the state of the contacts using a color code: if the surface is green, the contacts are open, while if it is red, the contacts are closed. The substitution of said surfaces will be explained further. detail below, along with the operation of the device the invention itself.
- Both ears (3, 4) are hollow, as shown in Figure 2, in order to allow the shutters (see Figures 8 and 9) to move there, according to a rotational movement relative to the axis of rotation of the joystick.
- the differential switch has at least one fixed contact (8) and at least one movable contact (9) integral with a contact carrier (10) pivoting, the latter being connected to the control lever (11) via a mechanism known per se comprising in particular a connecting rod (12) and links (13, 14).
- This mechanism reflects the position of the joystick control to the contact carrier (10), then to the movable contact (9), and vice versa.
- the contact carrier (10) has a notch (15) in which takes places the end of a part (16) said to indicate the state of the contacts, pivoting around a shaft (19), and driven by the contact carrier (10) when moves.
- the indicator piece (16) has a surface (17) arranged at proximity of the cover (1), parallel in appearance to the wall of the latter comprising the opening (2) in which the handle (11) moves, which is movable on the upper surface (18) of a plate fixed to the housing and comprising in particular the pivot shafts (19) of the indicator (16) and (24) of the lever (11).
- the contact carrier (10) also has a projection (20), one of which edges forms a ramp (21) against which the end of a rod (22) secured to an annular body (23) free to rotate around the shaft (24) of the lever (11).
- Said annular body (23) has another protuberance of radial appearance which constitutes the shutter (25) because it is guided in the hollow ear (3) and may during its movement obstruct the orifice lockout (5).
- a third outgrowth (26) emanating from the body annular (23) serves as an elastic spring by pressing against a fixed element (27) to the housing. It keeps the rod (22) in contact with the ramp (21).
- FIG. 3 shows the contacts (8, 9) welded.
- Contact holder (10) cannot then pivot correctly, due to the stress exerted on it by the movable contact (9) welded to the fixed contact (8), and the position of the projection (20) and consequently of the ramp (21) give the rod (22) an orientation such that the shutter (25) obstructs the orifice (5).
- This configuration of the security device of the invention does not include a single shutter (25), as shown in Figure 4, in which the second ear (4 ') is therefore not hollow. Because of the cut, only the drum (28) at the base of the handle (11) appears, the latter not being visible.
- This view also shows that an orifice (40) can be made, in the ear (3), above the shutter (25), revealing the surface upper of it in case of soldering of the contacts (8, 9).
- Figure 5 very clearly shows the integration of the the invention in the differential switch. It also highlights the guidance produced by the hollow ear (3) on the shutter (25), which is hidden in this view because the contacts (8, 9) are open, which has the effect of pushing said obturator (25) to the left of the ear (3). Finally, it shows very clearly the interactions between the end of the rod (22) and the ramp (21) via a lug (29), and between the spring (26) and a fixed stud (27).
- Figures 6 to 8 illustrate a variant of the device described above.
- this variant involves a link (30) pivoting on the one hand at the level of the body ring (23), and on the other hand on the indicator (16) of the state of the contacts.
- a short arm (31) provided with a lug (32) allows the pivoting of one of the ends of the link (30).
- a second similar lug (33) disposed on the indicator (16) allows the pivoting of the second end.
- the operation is similar to that which has been described in detail with reference to the previous solution: the contact carrier (10) controls the movement of the indicator (16), which in turn drives the rod (30) rotating the annular body (23), and therefore the shutter (25).
- Two different states of the contacts are shown in figures 6 and 7: open contacts and welded contacts respectively.
- a link arm (34) connects the annular body supporting the lever (11), said arm (34) being able, moreover, to obscure the marking (OFF) of this when the contacts are soldered.
- Figures 9 to 12 show another variant, in which there are also a double shutter (25, 25 '), but the link arm (34) is not in this case not permanently fixed to the annular body (23): its free end takes place in a housing (36) provided for this purpose in the periphery of said annular body (23). Disassembly makes it possible to house said link arm (34) inside the drum (28). The marking is then carried out on the tree internal (24) thereof, opposite a window (37) formed in said drum (28). The latter has a curved window (38), which appears on the section of Figure 10, in its left side, of a length allowing the achievement of the shutter stroke (25, 25 '). In case of soldering of the contacts (8, 9), the arm (34) is located behind the window (37), obscuring the marking.
- Figures 11 to 13 show the three possible stable states for the differential switch taken as an example in the text: open contacts, closed or welded. In all these cases, the position of the shutters is shown, and it can be noted that when the contacts (8, 9) are soldered, it is possible to return the lever (11) to the same position as when the contacts (8, 9) are open, with no particular impact on the components. Only the position of the shutters (25, 25 ') reflects the difference in state of said contacts (8, 9).
- the shutters can be coated with a color particular, for example red, which makes them immediately identifiable when the contacts are soldered and they appear in the holes (5, 6) through or in an upper orifice (40) of the type shown in figure 4.

Description
- la figure 1 est une vue partielle en perspective du couvercle d'un interrupteur différentiel équipé du dispositif de sécurité de l'invention ;
- la figure 2 est une coupe de la partie supérieure du couvercle au niveau de l'ouverture prévue pour la manette de commande ;
- la figure 3 est une vue partielle en élévation d'un tel interrupteur différentiel, avec les contacts soudés ;
- la figure 4 montre une coupe partielle IV-IV de la portion comportant la manette de commande, dans une configuration à un seul obturateur ;
- la figure 5 représente une vue partielle en perspective de la configuration des figures précédentes ;
- les figures 6 et 7 montrent, toujours dans un interrupteur différentiel, les contacts respectivement ouverts et soudés ;
- la figure 8 représente une perspective éclatée des organes essentiels constituant l'invention et participant à sa mise en oeuvre ;
- la figure 9 montre une variante à la configuration représentée en figure 8 ;
- la figure 10 représente une section de la manette de commande ; et
- les figures 11 à 13 sont des vues partielles en élévation d'un interrupteur différentiel intégrant la variante de la figure 8, et montrant respectivement les contacts ouverts, fermés et soudés.
