    a design of the follower (1) such that when the window pane (20) is loaded with a removal force (F) as a result of which the window pane (20) has the tendency to slide out from the follower (20) in the lifting direction (H) a torque is exerted on the retaining arm (11, 12) in the direction of the window pane surface (21).
  2. Follower according to claim 1 characterised in that the retaining arm (11, 12) has a stop (14) which is supported on a counter face (26) associated with the window pane (20) so that the window pane (20) is prevented from sliding out of the follower (1) in the lifting direction (H) .
  3. Follower according to claim 2 characterised in that the movement of the retaining arm (11, 12) under a force F acting parallel to the lifting direction H corresponds substantially to a movement about a swivel area (A1, A2, A3, A4) which seen from the section (13) of the retaining arm (11, 12) running along the window pane (20) is arranged behind a plane (E1, E2) which runs through a force engagement point (15) of the stop (14) on the counter face (26) and parallel to the displacement plane of the window pane (20).
  4. Follower according to claim 3 characterised in that the section of the retaining arm (11, 12) running from the stop (1) to the swivel area (A1, A2, A3, A4) extends at first substantially along the window pane surface (21, 22) towards the lower edge (28) of the window pane and underneath the lower pane edge (28) runs with a component transversely to the window pane surface (21, 22) towards the swivel area (A1, A2, A3, A4) wherein the swivel area (A1, A2, A3, A4) is mounted on the side (E1i, E2i) of the relevant plane (E1, E2) facing the window pane (20).
  5. Follower according to claim 4 characterised in that the swivel area (A3) is formed by a swivel axis.
  6. Follower according to claim 4 characterised in that the swivel area (A1, A2, A4) is formed by a section (31, 32, 33, 34) of the follower (1) having reduced material thickness.
  7. Follower according to one of claims 4 to 6 characterised in that the retaining arm (11, 12) has a connecting section (31, 32) which seen from the section (13) of the retaining arm (11, 12) running along the window pane (20) is connected to the base body (2) of the follower (1) behind the plane (E1, E2).
  8. Follower according to claim 6 or 7 characterised in that the retaining arm (11, 12) has a connecting section (33) which is supported underneath the lower pane edge (28) on the base body (2) of the follower (1).
  9. Follower according to claim 6 or 7 characterised in that the retaining arm (11, 12) underneath the lower pane edge (28) is supported on a counter member (5) of the follower (1) so that the retaining arm (11, 12) is able to swivel about this counter member (5).
  10. Follower according to claim 9 characterised in that the retaining arm (11, 12) underneath the lower pane edge (28) is hung with positive locking engagement from the counter member (5) of the follower (1).
  11. Follower according to one of claims 4 to 10 characterised in that the stop projects into an opening of the window pane.
  12. Follower according to one of claims 4 to 10 characterised in that the stop (14) is supported on a counter face (26) protruding from the window pane (20) and formed preferably by a structural element (25) which is inserted in an opening (24) of the window pane (20) and/or which is stuck on the window pane (20).
  13. Follower according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the retaining arm (11, 12) is able to swivel substantially transversely to the plane of the pane.
  14. Follower according to one of the preceding claims characterised in that it can be brought into positive locking engagement with the window pane (20).
  15. Follower according to one of the preceding claims characterised in that the follower (1) has a rigid follower section (9) which adjoins the side face (22) of the window pane (20) remote from the retaining arm (11).
  16. Follower according to one of claims 1 to 14 characterised in that the follower (1) has two retaining arms (11, 12) which are arranged in pairs on opposite sides (21, 22) of the window pane (20).
  17. Follower according to claim 16 characterised in that the two retaining arms (11, 12) criss cross underneath the lower edge (28) of the pane.
  18. Follower according to claim 16 or 17 characterised in that the two retaining arms (11, 12) form a substantially U-shaped socket for a window pane edge (28).
  19. Follower according to one of the preceding claims characterised in that the retaining arm (11, 12) consists of an elastically deformable material.
  20. Follower according to one of the preceding claims characterised in that the retaining arm (11, 12) is connected for swivel movement to the base body (2) of the follower (1).
