Definitions

  • the invention relates to a screw cap of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1.
  • Screw cap provided; they consist of a ring face, which comes to rest when screwing on the face of the bottle neck and thus limits further screwing.
  • the force with which the sealing lip is clamped between an end face of the bottle neck and a contact surface arranged behind the sealing lip is to be set by a suitable position of the ring end face. This clamping does not take place over the entire circumference, rather there is a recess behind the sealing lip at at least one point, so that when the pressure rises it bulges out into the recess and the excess pressure can thus escape.
  • the sealing lip In the area of the recess, the sealing lip only rests due to its inherent elasticity in connection with its preload.
  • a screw cap similar to the type in question is known from DE 38 39 351 AI, which differs from the screw cap described above only in that the sealing lip is replaced by an inserted seal.
  • This known screw cap therefore also has the same disadvantages.
  • a screw cap made of plastic is known from US 4,360,077, in which two ring-shaped seals extend essentially axially from the bottom of the screw cap and, when screwed on, should enclose the edge of the mouth of a bottle neck between them. At their edges, the two sealing lips have ventilation slots, which are of no importance when the screw cap is fully screwed on. Rather, when the screw cap is unscrewed, the internal pressure should not escape suddenly but slowly through the ventilation slots. This is intended to prevent an explosion-like escape. A pressure relief valve is therefore not formed.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a screw cap of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1, which has the effect of a pressure relief valve permanently and effectively in a simple manner.
  • the object on which the invention is based is achieved by the teaching specified in the characterizing part of claim 1.
  • the sealing surface of the sealing lip is essentially conical 5, such that it is screwed on
  • Screw cap rests on an outer sealing edge of the end face of the mouth of the bottle. With such a configuration and alignment of the sealing lip, due to its connection to the bottom of the screw cap, it performs a sliding movement on the outer sealing edge of the end face of the mouth of a bottle when the bottom bulges out like a dome depending on the internal pressure in the bottle.
  • the sealing cap bulges out like a dome, the recess in the conical sealing surface of the sealing lip comes into the area of the outer sealing edge of the end face of the mouth of the bottle.
  • the blow-off pressure can be varied within wide limits.
  • the dome-like bulge of the bottle bottom its edges also contract somewhat due to the secant-like shortening, taking the neighboring areas of the cylindrical screw part inwards, which supports the dome-like bulge of the bottle bottom and the associated sliding movement of the sealing lip.
  • the recess in the conical sealing surface is expediently a radial channel which represents the shortest path from the opening area of the pressure relief valve formed to the surroundings.
  • an intermediate space is formed between the cylindrical screw part and the bottle neck in its mouth region. This ensures that the radial inward movement of the edge of the bottom of the screw cap and in particular of the adjacent areas of the cylindrical screw part is not impeded by the peripheral surface of the bottle neck, even with larger deflections.
  • the sealing lip advantageously has a substantially constant thickness at least up to the recess.
  • a contact surface for the sealing lip extends parallel to the conical sealing surface.
  • the sealing lip can have sufficient inherent rigidity to ensure such a large contact force in the screwed-on state even during the sliding movements of the sealing lip that the sealing lip does not come off the sealing edge at any of the pressures that occur the end face of the mouth of the bottle is lifted off, but this requires a greater material thickness and a greater amount of material. If, on the other hand, the sealing lip can be supported on its rear side on a contact surface, it can be considerably less, since the supporting force is always sufficiently large to prevent the sealing lip from being lifted off when all pressures occur.
  • a recess in the conical sealing surface is sufficient to ensure the pressure relief valve function.
  • the circumference of the sealing lip is distributed over several recesses.
  • the screw cap has an area which, when the screw cap is screwed on, lies adjacent to the sealing edge
  • Attenuation which is preferably formed by an annular recess in the bottom and is located radially within the sealing edge. This weakening is said to favor the dome-like deformation of the base caused by internal pressure and thus the sliding movement of the sealing lip on the outer sealing edge of the end face of the mouth of a bottle, which is used according to the invention enlarged and thus the effect of a pressure relief valve can be improved.

  • a sealing lip 24 extends obliquely outward from an inner surface 22 of the base 6 and forms a conical sealing surface 26 which, when screwed on, which is shown in the left half in FIG. 1, on an outer sealing edge 28 of the end face 16 supports the mouth of the bottle neck 12.
  • the sealing lip 24 is clamped between the sealing edge 28 and a conical contact surface 30 which runs essentially parallel to the sealing surface 26 of the sealing lip 24 when it is in contact with the sealing edge 28 when it is screwed on.
  • FIG. 1 The left half of FIG. 1 is enlarged in FIG. 2, so that the conditions are more clearly visible when the screw cap 2 is screwed on and without excessive internal pressure.
  • the recesses 32 extend from a region just outside the sealing edge 28 to the edge 34 of the sealing lip 24. This means that the sealing lip 24 is clamped between the sealing edge 28 and the contact surface 30 and thus a good seal is achieved with a high sealing force, which is independent of the elastic properties of the sealing lip 24.
  • Fig. 3 corresponds to Fig. 2, but shows the conditions at blow-off pressure at which the pressure relief valve formed is open. It can be seen that due to the internal pressure, the bottom 6 is domed.
  • FIG. 4 shows a modification of the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1 in the representation according to FIG. 2.
  • the same or corresponding parts are provided with the same reference numbers.
  • the difference is that an annular recess 44 is provided in the bottom 6 in a region radially outside the outer sealing edge 28 of the end face 16 of the mouth of the bottle neck 12.
  • the recess 44 is located on the side of the base 6 facing the sealing lip 24.
  • This recess 44 favors the dome-like bulging of the bottle base under internal pressure and increases the sliding movement of the sealing lip 24 and improves the function of a pressure relief valve.
  • a groove 46 in the inner wall of the cylindrical screw part 4 adjacent to the bottom 6 of the screw cap 2 also serves the same purpose.
