  • a hemming punch (not shown) is then used to stamp the hem portion 22 of the second outer panel to the edge portion of the first inner panel.
  • the punch impacts the outer surface 32 of the hem portion 22 causing the hem portion to bend around the lip 16 of the bead 14 of the first panel such that the inner surface 30 of the hem portion comes into contact with the upper surface 10 of the first panel.
  • the bead 14 provides a back resistance during this bending of the hem portion about the lip of the bead. This allows the hem portion 22 to be tightly wrapped around the bead 16 to form a channel 34 at the edge of the second outer panel 8 having a narrow mouth 36 extending along the hemmed edge of the second outer panel. The edge 2 of the first inner panel 4 in this way becomes trapped inside the channel 34 formed by the second outer panel 8 since the bead 14 of the first inner panel 4 cannot pass through the mouth 36 of the channel 34 without distorting the channel.

Claims (5)

  1. Panneau de porte de véhicule à moteur comprenant un premier panneau, intérieur (4), et un deuxième panneau, extérieur (8), dans lequel les premier et deuxième panneaux sont joints l'un à l'autre au niveau d'un joint à bord rabattu constitué d'un bord rabattu (22) du deuxième panneau replié autour d'un bord périphérique (2) du premier panneau pour fixer le bord du premier panneau dans le deuxième panneau, le bord périphérique du premier panneau comportant un cordon (14) ayant une surface extérieure qui se verrouille sur la surface intérieure du bord rabattu, caractérisé en ce que le cordon (14) est plein et qu'il est au bord le plus à l'extérieur de la périphérie du premier panneau (4).
  2. Panneau de porte selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que le cordon (14) s'étend le long de toute la longueur du bord (2) du premier panneau (4).
  3. Panneau de porte selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que le bord rabattu replié 32 s'étend par-dessus une partie de surface du premier panneau sur le côté intérieur du cordon (14).
  4. Panneau de porte selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce que le premier panneau (4) est un élément moulé sous pression.
  5. Panneau de porte selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce que le cordon (14) a la forme d'une crête (16) s'étendant au-dessus d'une surface du premier panneau (4).
