Abstract

A web of paper or carton is continually taken up and wound onto a rotating drum. The web is fed through a narrow gap between a pressure- drum applied to the web and the take-up spool, effecting fine regulation of the linear tension within the moving web. The weight or the pressure drum is greater than that of the empty take-up spool.
