Definitions

  • Intermediate parts are known, for example in the form of intermediate plugs.
  • Such adapter plugs can be used, for example, as adapters or as decoupling elements.
  • connection between the connection to the steering wheel and the coil spring housing can be established by means of a plug connection.
  • a plug connection Provided that there is a permanent and good electrical connection between the clock spring in the clock spring housing and the intermediate part, it is therefore necessary that the plug connected to the steering wheel in the form of a plug connection is securely and permanently connected to the intermediate part electrically and mechanically.
  • the intermediate part is displaceable relative to the housing. There is therefore the problem that the intermediate part can avoid the plug before it has finally and clearly reached its connection position relative to the intermediate part. It should thus be ensured that a displacement of the intermediate part by the plug is only possible when the plug is securely connected electrically and mechanically to the intermediate part.
  • the invention is therefore based on a connector of the type resulting from the preamble of claim 1 and solves the existing problem by the combination of features resulting from the characterizing part of claim 1.
  • the invention consists in the fact that the intermediate part is blocked with respect to the housing during the insertion process of the plug and thus cannot evade the movement of the plug. This blocking movement is only lifted by the fact that the plug has reached its correct position within the intermediate part. The movement of the plug thus inevitably controls the blocking of the intermediate part or the ending of this blockage. Only after the plug has reached its correct position within the intermediate part is it possible to move the intermediate part within the housing into a defined second position area. The assembly personnel thus receive a clear indication that the plug is seated reliably and in the switched-through state in the intermediate part.
  • a particularly simple holding element is obtained by using the combination of features according to claim 2. Then, by the insertion of the plug into the intermediate part, a spreading lever is spread out, which ensures that the intermediate part is held in the housing until the plug, even when greater force is used has reached the correct position in the intermediate part.
  • the spreader arm can be located on the housing, for example.
  • a particularly simple configuration results when using the combination of features according to claim 3. If the plug is inserted into a corresponding recess, the spreading arm moves into its blocking spreading position. However, the effort required to spread the spreader arm must be less than the holding force of the intermediate part in the housing.
  • the spreader arm can automatically ensure that the intermediate part does not escape into the housing, so that an additional spreading of the spreader arm can take place, which also secures the intermediate part against larger forces in the direction of insertion of the plug relative to the housing .
  • the intermediate part can also be inserted very easily into the housing by being inserted into the housing in a latching manner. As soon as the plug reaches the bottom of the associated recess in the intermediate part, the force exerted on the plug can be fully transmitted to the intermediate part. This force is sufficient to tear the intermediate part out of its latching connection in the housing and to convey it into a second defined position according to the combination of features according to claim 5. In this position, the intermediate part should have a certain freedom of movement in relation to the housing in accordance with the combination of features mentioned.
  • the combination of features according to claim 6 is recommended in a further development of the invention - Mung when reaching the correct contact position of the plug in the intermediate part not only removes the blockage of the intermediate part, but also creates a sufficient latching connection between these two parts in order to convey the intermediate part in its releasing movement from its second position area into its latching position with respect to the housing.
  • On- Proverb 7 indicates a preferred combination of features.
  • the combination of features according to claim 8 is recommended in a further development.
  • the elastically pivotable holding arm holds the intermediate part within the second position area, so that the second holding arm has an elastic one Limiting advantage of this location area results.
  • the combination of features according to claim 9 is recommended in a further development of the invention.
  • the second latching connection between the plug and the intermediate part is therefore chosen so that it cannot come loose when the intermediate part is pulled out of the second position area into the first locking connection via the plug and counter to the locking force of the holding arm.
  • the feature combination according to claim 10 is recommended in a further development of the invention. It is particularly important that the second latching connection between the plug and the intermediate part is just released when the intermediate part is above the first locking connection is locked to the housing. Only in this way is it possible that the plug is held securely on the one hand in the intermediate part, but on the other hand can be detached from the intermediate part without difficulty if the intermediate part is in the first latching connection.
  • Fig. 1 shows a sectional view of a first state of the connector
  • FIG. 2 shows a second state of the plug connection according to FIG. 1
  • FIG. 3 shows a third state of the plug connection according to FIG. 1
  • FIG. 4 shows a fourth state of the plug connection according to FIG. 1
  • Fig. 5 shows a fifth state of the connector according to Fig. 1 and
  • Fig. 6 shows the connector of FIG. 1 in a side view.
  • FIG. 1 shows a portion of a cover 1 of a clock spring housing (see also DE-OS 195 11 693).
  • This cover is arranged symmetrically to the axis of rotation of the steering wheel and is mechanically connected to the steering wheel in the operating state. The cover thus follows the rotational movement of the steering wheel, while the rest of the housing part of the clock spring housing is arranged rigidly with respect to the vehicle chassis.
  • a spiral band is arranged in a known manner within the clock spring housing, which creates the electrical connection between the rotating steering wheel and the rigid housing of the clock spring, wherein the clock spring housing can again be electrically connected to fixed connections on the steering column switch of the vehicle.
  • a plug housing 2 is integrally formed, which serves to accommodate an intermediate part 3.
  • the intermediate part has two or more locking fingers 4, which in the state shown in FIG engage corresponding locking openings 5 in the housing 2. This results in a first latching connection between the intermediate part 3 and the housing 2.
  • the intermediate part 3 also has an insertion opening 6, into which a plug 7 provided with electrical contacts can be inserted in a clean manner.
  • two elastic spreading arms are provided, which are cast onto the side wall 8 and can be pivoted out elastically around their attachment point on the side wall.
  • the intermediate part 3 itself is provided with contacts, not shown, which are connected via flexible lines 8 (FIG. 6) to a connection point on the cover 1 in an electrically secure and permanent manner. Furthermore, the plug connected to the steering wheel has 7 connection contacts which are connected via a cable to electrical devices in the steering wheel, not shown.
  • Figure 1 One can imagine Figure 1 so that a connector 7 connected to a steering wheel is arranged above the intermediate part 3, so that the connector 7 can be inserted into the insertion opening 6 by lowering the steering wheel relative to the intermediate part.
  • the plug 7 shows the plug 7 during this insertion movement in the insertion opening 6. It is important for the invention that the side surfaces of the plug 7 pivot the back surfaces 9 pivoted into the insertion opening 6 so that the support lugs 10 of the expansion arms 11 protrude beyond the contour of the side wall 12 of the housing 2.
  • the support lugs 10 block a possible movement of the intermediate part 3 into the housing. This is also important insofar as considerable forces are required to properly plug the plug contacts of the intermediate part 3 and the plug 7, which are not shown. So while at the beginning of the insertion movement of the plug 7 in the insertion opening 6, the intermediate part 3 is held by the first locking connection between the locking fingers 4 and the locking opening 5 and so the movement of the plug 7 can not avoid this longitudinal movement of the intermediate part, as can be seen from Fig.
  • the force that can thus now be exerted on the bottom 13 of the insertion opening 6 by the plug 7 is fully transmitted to the first latching connection between latching fingers 4 and latching opening 5.
  • the latching opening 5 is introduced into a swivel arm 15 of the housing 2, which can counteract the force exerted by the plug 7 on the latching fingers 4, as a result of which the swivel arm 15, as can be seen in FIG. 4, is pivoted out and the first latching connection between latching fingers 4 and Detent opening 5 is released.
  • the locking fingers 4 can dip into assigned locking grooves 17, the walls of which limit the movement of the locking fingers 4 in the release direction of the plug 7.
  • the intermediate part in the state according to FIG. 5, the intermediate part can move with its fingers 4 in the region of the locking grooves 17, but the plug 7 remains closely locked with the intermediate part 3.
  • the intermediate part 3 with locked plug is in the "floating" area. This is to eliminate ex- Centricity tolerances between the steering wheel and the winding tape cassette are necessary, otherwise the steering wheel can exert forces on the winding tape cassette with the following dangers: Noise (scraping, scratching) or, in extreme cases, also risk of breakage of the molded housing 2.
  • the movability of the plug according to the invention additionally ensures tolerance compensation in the height direction between the steering wheel and the clock spring housing or the clock spring cover when the contact is made securely.
  • the invention is a plug connection that offers a defined starting position (dimensionally) into which a plug easily finds its way via a leading guide. When plugging together further, a reliable electrical contact is inevitably achieved before the "floating" end position is reached.
  • Opening the plug connection also leads back to the defined starting position.
  • the invention is based on the fact that there is good electrical contact between the electrical connections of the clock spring and the contacts of the intermediate part to the plug 7, which are not shown in the present drawing, however.
  • the connection can be made, for example, by a flexible conductor strip 18, as shown in FIG. 6.
  • the contacts of the intermediate part are firmly connected to the lines of the conductor strip 18, for example by soldering, crimping, by a plug connector or the like.
  • Another important aspect of the invention is that in the state of FIG. 5, the spreading movement of the locking fingers 11 is severely restricted by the inner walls 19 of the housing 2, so that they remain in the locking position for as long as the locking fingers 11 are in the area of Interior walls of the Housing 2 are.
  • the plug 7 also remains locked with respect to the intermediate part 3 when the plug 7 is released. It can thus be exerted by the plug 7 in the release direction larger forces on the intermediate piece 3 in the release direction of the plug, which are able to pull the intermediate piece 3 into the first latching position according to FIG. 3, the pivot arm 15 being pivoted out by this force is so that the associated locking finger 4 can pass.
  • the intermediate part 3 remains locked. In the state reached in the direction of release in FIG.
  • the spreader arms remain in their locking position for the connector 7 until the force exerted on the connector 7 in the release direction pushes the spreader arms 11 outwards by latching projections 20 and thus the connector 7 opposite release the intermediate part 3.
  • the plug 7 can now leave the insertion opening 6, while the intermediate part 3 is held in the plug by the first latching connection 4, 5.
  • the electrical connection (not shown) between the plug and the intermediate part is also disconnected.
  • Fig. 6 shows the connector according to state 1 (Fig. 1) in side view.
  • Guide grooves 22 are provided in the housing 2, which, in conjunction with a guide web 23, ensure lateral guidance of the intermediate part in the housing 2. 6 also shows a latching finger 4 which is latched into a latching opening 5.
