Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Regeneration einer Stickoxidfalle (16) im Abgassystem eines Verbrennungsmotors (10) mit einer elektronischen Motorsteuerung (12), durch die abhängig von einer Vielzahl von Motorbetriebsparametern bestimmt wird, ob dem Verbrennungsmotor ein mageres oder ein im wesentlichen stöchiometrisches Luft-/Kraftstoffgemisch zugeführt wird und durch die unter vorgegebenen ersten Auslösebedingungen ein Grundregenerationszyklus der Stickoxidfalle ausgelöst wird. Bei einem Übergang vom mageren in den stöchiometrischen Betriebsmodus und bei einem Vorliegen von vorgegebenen zweiten Auslösebedingungen wird ein Zusatzregenerationszyklus der Stickoxidfalle ausgelöst. Damit wird eine unkontrollierte Freisetzung von gespeicherten Stickoxiden aus der Stickoxidfalle vermieden. Der Zusatzregenerationszyklus wird vorzugsweise nur dann ausgelöst, wenn die aufgenommene Stickoxidmenge (X) einen bestimmten Schwellwert hat und der Übergang in den stöchiometrischen Betrieb aus einem vorgegebenen Teilbereich des Mager-Drehzahl-/Drehmomentbereichs erfolgt.
