Claims (12)
- A surfacing screed (B) for a road finisher, comprising a base screed (G) defining a base width (b) of the surfacing screed and two extension screeds (A) extendable on each side approximately parallel to the base screed, and widening parts (T) attached to the two extension screeds (A) by coupling mechanisms (M) for adjusting the working width to at least twice the base width (≥ 2 x b) when the extension screeds (A) are fully extended,

each coupling mechanism (M), in the neighbourhood of the outer end (5) of the extension screed (A), has a swivel joint (16) in which the widening part (T) can be swung from a working position extending outwards over the outer end of the extension screed into an inoperative position in which the extension screed (A) is completely retracted and the prolongation part (T) lies within the base width (b) of the surfacing screed (B). - A surfacing screed according to claim 1, characterised in that the coupling mechanism (M) is releasable from the extension screed (A).

- A surfacing screed according to claim 6, characterised in that the axis of the swivel joint (16) is disposed at a distance behind the extension screed (A), and the side-plate carrier (9) is connected to the swivel joint (16) by at least one bent supporting arm (12, 13).
- A surfacing screed according to claim 1, characterised in that the two swivel joints (16) are offset from one another by at least the width of a widening part (T) in the direction of travel of the surfacing screed (B) during operation.
- A surfacing screed according to claim 6, characterised in that when the widening parts (T) are in the inoperative position the two side-plate holders are braced against one another.
- A surfacing screed according to claim 6, characterised in that the side plate (8) is completely or partly releasably connected to the side-plate holder (9) and/or the widening part (T).
- A surfacing screed according to claim 6, characterised in that in the operating position each widening part (T) is connected, preferably by quick-acting closure means, to the extension screed (A) by the side-plate holder (9) and by fastening elements (10) penetrating into the side-plate holders (9) and the widening part (T).
- A surfacing screed according to claim 1, characterised in that the widening part (T) has a width at least equal to or greater than the base width (b) minus the distance between the outer end (5) of the fully retracted extension screed (A) and the middle of the base screed (G).
