- the field lines created by the winding 14 are close thanks to the presence of a fixed magnetic core 46 which is arranged transversely at the front of the winding 12.

- the movable core 18 causes the axial displacement of an axial rod 20 of the contactor 10 which controls the axial movement of a contact plate 22 from a retracted position of rest, shown in FIG. 1, to an active forward position (not shown) in which the contact plate 22 bears axially towards the front against the heads 24, 26 of two terminals 28, 30 one of which is connected to a vehicle storage battery and the other is connected to an electric starter motor. So, in the active position, the contact plate 22 causes the starter motor power supply which is then likely to cause the combustion engine to rotate vehicle to allow it to start.
- the contact plate 22 and the heads 24, 26 of terminals 28 and 30 are arranged in a cover 32 which closes, at the front, the housing 14 of the contactor 10.
- the contact plate 22 and the terminals 28, 30 are received in a front compartment 34 of the cover 32 which is substantially rectangular in shape, while a rear compartment 36 of the cover 32, of cylindrical shape, allows the junction of the cover 32 with the housing 14 of the contactor 10.
- the contactor 10 comprises a card with printed circuit 38 which extends in a transverse plane and which is received inside the rear compartment 36 of the cover 32.
- the printed circuit board 38 carries an electronic circuit of control of the power supply to the field winding 12.
- the rear compartment 36 is axially delimited inside the cover 32 on the one hand, with the front, by a transverse wall 42 of a partition of separation 44 and on the other hand, at the rear, by the core fixed transverse magnetic 46.
