Abstract

On fabrique des affichages et des lampes émettant de la lumière au moyen d'un procédé de photopompage d'éléments fluorescents excitables par les ultraviolets par l'intermédiaire de diodes électroluminescentes (LED) à base de GaN émettant des ultraviolets. Des cavités résonantes sont incorporées dans les structures des LED, afin, à la fois, de rétrécir et d'élever le spectre d'émission. On fabrique des écrans d'affichage couleur à partir de groupements de combinaisons individuelles d'éléments luminescents et de LED de différentes couleurs. Ces dispositifs composés d'éléments fluorescents pompés et de LED ne nécessitent pas un milieu sous vide et fonctionnent à des tensions beaucoup plus basses que les écrans fluorescents pompés au faisceau d'électrons des tubes cathodiques (CRT).
