- An air intake arrangement for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine including an air filter (1) comprising a casing (10, 11) defining a space for accommodating a filter cartridge and an intake manifold (2) comprising a body (20) having a distribution chamber (22) provided with a plurality of tappings (5, 7, 8, 9) of which one (5) co-operates with a pressure sensor (3) for furnishing the value of the pressure of the air in the manifold (2) and tubes (23) intended to communicate said distribution chamber (22) and the corresponding intake ducts provided in the cylinder head of the engine, characterised in that said tappings are carried by a single added part (24) which is fixed on to said body (20) in line with at least one corresponding opening (26, 27) which opens into said distribution chamber (22), that the tappings (5, 7, 8, 9) are arranged in groups on the single part (24) according to their function and that corresponding to each group of tappings is a suitable opening (26, 27) which is provided through the body (20) to open into said distribution chamber (22).
- An air intake arrangement according to claim 1 characterised in that said tappings (5, 7, 8, 9) are respectively intended for measurement of the pressure, for the connection of tubes intended to add to the combustion air combustible or non-combustible substances such as fuel vapours or crankcase gases and/or for the connection of depression pick-ups.
- An air intake arrangement according to either one of claims 1 and 2 characterised in that said tappings (5, 7, 8, 9) are in one piece with said part (24).
- An air intake arrangement according to any one of claims 1 to 3 characterised in that said part is formed by a plate portion (24) of general rectangular shape and that the tappings (5, 7, 8, 9) are aligned along the longitudinal central axis of said plate portion (24).
- An air intake arrangement according to any one of claims 1 to 4 characterised in that each of said openings (26, 27) comprises an oblong orifice (123) surrounded by a wall (116) extending in projecting relationship on the outside of said body (20) and that the free edge forming the joint plane of said wall (116) has a groove (29) serving to accommodate a corresponding boss portion (64) carried by said part (24).
- An air intake arrangement according to any one of claims 1 to 5 characterised in that said tappings (5, 7, 8) integrate suitable connecting end portions (60).
- An air intake arrangement according to any one of claims 1 to 5 characterised in that all or part of said tappings (406) carry suitable connecting end portions (9), said connecting end portions (9) being fitted by clipping on to said tappings (406).
- An air intake arrangement according to any one of claims 1 to 7 characterised in that said body (20) and said part (24) are made of moulded plastics material.
- An air intake arrangement according to claim 8 characterised in that said part (24) is fixed on said body (20) by ultrasonic welding.
- An air intake arrangement according to any one of claims 1 to 9 characterised in that said casing (10, 11) of the air filter comprises a support (6) adapted to receive said pressure sensor (3).
- An air intake arrangement according to claim 10 characterised in that said support (6) integrates clipping means (17) for easy fitting and removal of the pressure sensor (3).
- An air intake arrangement according to either one of claims 10 and 11 characterised in that said support (16) is in one piece with said casing (10, 11) of the air filter (1).
- An air intake arrangement according to any one of claims 10 to 12 characterised in that the casing (10, 11) of the air filter (1) rests on the engine by way of resilient shock-absorbing means.
- An air intake arrangement according to any one of claims 10 to 13 characterised in that said casing of the air filter (1) is formed by two cylindrical half-body portions (10, 11) which are joined axially by a suitable closure system, the first half-body portion (10) defining a resonant cavity and the second half-body portion (11) defining the space for accommodating the filter cartridge and integrating the air inlet (13) and outlet (12) orifices, said second half-body portion (11) intended to be fixed to the engine having said support (6) adapted to receive said pressure sensor (3).
- An air intake arrangement according to any one of claims 10 to 14 characterised in that the support (6) comprises a bottom wall (18) and side walls (15) arranged in such a way as to form an upwardly open housing for accommodating said sensor (3), said bottom wall (18) extending in overhung relationship in the direction of the intake manifold (2) by being carried by suitable ribs (16) and comprising a wide opening (19) opening at the free edge facing said intake manifold (2) to permit the passage therethrough of the pressure pick-up (4) connecting said pressure sensor (3) to said intake manifold (2).
- An air intake arrangement according to claim 15 characterised in that said side walls (15) which are intended to face the two transverse ends of the sensor (3) are provided with lugs (17) capable of coming to bear against the upper face of the sensor (3) and therefore immobilising the sensor on the support (6).
- An air intake arrangement according to any one of claims 10 to 16 characterised in that the pressure pick-up extending between said sensor (3) and the corresponding tapping (5) carried by said intake manifold (2) is formed by a flexible thermally shaped conduit (4) having a number of bends (14) that is at least equal to four.
