Definitions

  • the present invention relates generally to signaling lights comprising a plurality of sources light bulbs of low power and small dimensions, aligned, and means for processing the light emitted by these sources to form a signaling beam of adequate photometry.
  • the sources are preferably light emitting diodes.
  • a stop light must emit a light beam relatively intense, also it is necessary to provide a relatively large number of sources, and close to each other others.
  • each light emitting diode an optical device of the kind Fresnel lens arranged in front of the diode.
  • This solution is however disadvantageous in that to recover most of the light flux emitted by each diode light-emitting, the height of each lens must be important, which increases the size of the fire.
  • the present invention aims to overcome these limitations of the state of the art, and to propose a traffic light in which the spacing between the different sources can be increased, while maintaining a low height and without significant loss of optical efficiency.
  • the invention proposes for this purpose a signaling light as defined in claim 1.
  • a fire of signaling in this case an additional brake light for rear window, which includes a housing 10 of form elongated, closed at the front (relative to the steering light emission, that is to say on the left on the Figure 1 and on the right in Figures 3 and 4) by an indicator 60 in profile in general "U" shape.
  • the housing is fixed on the vehicle by screws V engaged in holes formed in the case.
  • an elongated printed circuit 30 on which are soldered in alignment a plurality of diodes electroluminescent 20 of conventional type, that is to say comprising a housing 21, a hemispherical part 22 light emission and two connection tabs 23.
  • the reference R designates a resistor fixing the current passing through the diodes 20.
  • the light emitting diodes 20 are in this case spaced about 25 mm apart, and twelve in number, these values however, not being limiting.
  • each diode light emitting 20 emits light in a emission indicator (solid angle covered by the radiation) in the form of a cone having a half angle at vertex ⁇ of about 50 °.
  • a emission indicator solid angle covered by the radiation
  • sources with other emission indicators may be used.
  • double means optics are used to get a beam of appropriate photometry signaling.
  • These means consist firstly of a mirror 40, and secondly in a plate 50 located between the edges front of the mirror and carrying a series of reliefs forming individual Fresnel lenses for each of sources 20.
  • the mirror 40 is focused on the line passing through the different sources 20.
  • the mirror 40 is fixed to the printed circuit 30 by spacers 41 located between adjacent diodes 20 and connected to the mirror at a flat bottom 42 of said mirror, inoperative due to the reduced emission cone of the sources.
  • the reliefs of the optical plate 50 are designated by the reference 51 in FIG. 6, and can be located either on its internal face, either on its external face (as illustrated).
  • the different Fresnel lenses formed by these reliefs are focused on the respective sources and have axes perpendicular to the source line.
  • the arrangement of the mirror 40 and Fresnel lens plate 50 is such that part of the conical radiation emitted by each source directly meets the associated Fresnel lens, and that another part of this radiation, more outside, meets the upper and lower parts of the mirror 40 to be redirected, substantially horizontally, towards the respective Fresnel lenses.
  • zones Z1 illustrate, in a plane perpendicular to the axis of a respective source, the part of radiation reflected by the mirror and then crossing the Fresnel lens, while zone Z2 illustrates the part of the radiation arriving directly on the lens from Fresnel.
  • the light emitted towards zone Z2 contributes mainly to allow the fire to satisfy the grate regulatory photometric, in conjunction with beads or light scattering toroids 61 formed on the face internal light, while the light emitted to the zones Z1 contributes to an increase in light intensity, as well as making the illuminating surface of the lit fire more homogeneous, in particular by the fact that the mirror is of the type cylindrical and does not reduce the light emitted laterally towards the optical axis.
  • the outline of the light exit window for the source considered is designated by F.
  • the angle of the transition planes, above and below horizontally, between zones Z1 and Z2 is designated by ⁇ . Its value is of course less than ⁇ and preferably of the order of 30 to 40 °.
  • the present invention it has been possible to produce a fire signaling device with twelve diodes standard LEDs spaced 25 mm apart, having a height (at the level of the mirror 40 and of the plate 50) of 10 mm, meeting the regulations for photometry, with more than satisfactory intensity and a homogeneous illuminating surface.
  • the mirror 40 can come molding during the manufacture of the housing 10.
