Definitions

  • This invention relates to a balcony arrangement including a first balcony and a second balcony, the first balcony comprising a balcony slab and a roof slab, which is located straight above the balcony slab and constitutes a balcony slab of the second balcony, the balcony slab and the roof slab supporting between them a first frame having an upper and a lower horizontal, sectional element and supporting wall elements, such as glass panes, for building in, at least partly, the first balcony, the roof slab supporting a second frame having a lower horizontal, sectional element, at least one lower supporting element and at least one upper supporting element, which each have a vertical branch, being so attached to, respectively, the balcony slab and the roof slab that their vertical branches extend upwards slightly outside the edge surface of the respective slabs, the first frame resting with its lower sectional element on the lower supporting element, and the second frame, whose lower sectional element is formed with a longitudinal groove on the underside, resting with its lower sectional element on the upper supporting element in such a manner that the vertical branch thereof is received in the groove.
  • the first balcony comprising
  • a balcony arrangement of this type is known from Swedish Patent Specification 467,264.
  • this known balcony arrangement at least two lower pins and at least two upper pins, which are formed with a transverse through hole, are so fixed in, respectively, one of the edge surfaces of the balcony slab and the corresponding edge surface of the roof slab that they project horizontally from these edge surfaces, the transverse hole being vertically directed.
  • a peg is so inserted in the hole of each lower pin that its upper portion projects from the pin.
  • the first frame whose lower and upper horizontal, sectional elements have been formed with vertical holes whose positions on the respective sectional elements correspond to the positions of the lower and upper pins on the edge surfaces of the balcony slab and the roof slab, respectively, is so arranged on the lower pins that the upper portions of the pegs inserted therein are introduced into corresponding holes in the lower sectional element.
  • a peg is so inserted in the hole of each upper pin that its lower portion is introduced into a corresponding hole in the upper sectional element.
  • This prior-art balcony arrangement allows certain dimensional tolerances in the vertical direction as regards the frames, but necessitates fairly extensive supplementary work in the form of the mounting of cover strips and the sealing of joints, in the area between the frames of the two superimposed balconies.
  • An object of the present invention is to provide a balcony arrangement which also permits dimensional tolerances in the vertical direction as regards the frames, while at the same time minimising the supplementary work referred to above.
  • a balcony arrangement which is of the type stated by way of introduction and which is characterised in that the upper sectional element of the first frame has a vertical flange extending up over a substantial part of the vertical branch of the upper supporting element, that the vertical flange is applied against the vertical branch of the upper supporting element and is attached thereto and that the lower sectional element of the second frame has a vertical flange extending so far down over the vertical branch of the upper supporting element on the outside thereof that it overlaps the vertical flange of the upper sectional element of the first frame.
  • the illustrated balcony comprises a horizontal balcony slab 1 and a horizontal roof slab 2, which is located straight above the balcony slab 1 and which here constitutes the balcony slab of a superjacent balcony.
  • the balcony slab 1 constitutes the roof slab of a subjacent balcony.
  • the two slabs 1 and 2 are made of concrete or steel and are, in conventional manner, attached to the wall of a house (not shown).
  • the bolts 4 extend through elongate holes 7 formed in the horizontal branches 3a, enabling a certain adjustment of the distance between the vertical branches 3b and the edge surface 6.
  • Two L-shaped supporting elements 8, which are identical with the supporting elements 3, are, by means of bolts 9, so attached to the roof slab 2 that their horizontal branches 8a are applied against the underside 10 of the roof slab 2 and their vertical branches 8b extend upwards slightly outside the front edge surface 11 of the roof slab 2.
  • the bolts 9 extend through elongate holes 12 formed in the horizontal branches 8a, enabling a certain adjustment of the distance between the vertical branches 8b and the edge surface 11.
  • the balcony is a built-in balcony and is, at the front side, provided with a fixed, lower wall panel 13 of sheet-metal and three glass panes 14, 14', 14", which are horizontally displaceable in relation to each other.
  • the wall panel 13 and the glass panes 14, 14', 14" are mounted in a frame having an upper horizontal, sectional element 15, a lower horizontal, sectional element 16, and an intermediate horizontal, sectional element 17.
  • the wall panel 13 is mounted between the lower sectional element 16 and the intermediate sectional element 17.
  • the glass panes 14, 14', 14" are, in known fashion, mounted between the upper sectional element 15 and the intermediate sectional element 17 and are displaceable in relation to each other.
  • the sectional elements 15, 16, 17 are made of aluminum.
  • the drawings show a corresponding lower, sectional element 16' forming part of a frame arranged at the upper balcony.
  • the two lower sectional elements 16 and 16' are identical.
  • the lower sectional element 16 (16') is formed with a longitudinal groove 18 (18') on the underside and is equipped with an outer flange 19 (19') projecting vertically downwards at the front side.
  • the upper sectional element 15, which in the illustrated embodiment consists of two sectional parts riveted together, comprises, at its central portion, a flange 20 projecting vertically upwards.
  • the frame With its lower sectional element 16, the frame rests on the lower supporting elements 3.
  • the vertical branch 3b of each supporting element 3 is thus placed in the groove 18 of the lower sectional element 16.
  • the lower sectional element 16 is applied against the front edge surface 6 of the balcony slab 1 by the intermediary of a rubber strip 21 sealing against flue gases.
  • the frame provided at the upper balcony is supported in the same way by the upper supporting elements 8, the lower sectional element 16' applied against the front edge surface 11 of the roof slab 2 by the intermediary of a rubber strip 21' sealing against flue gases.
  • the upper sectional element 15 of the frame is, with its vertical flange 20, applied against the vertical branches 8b of the upper supporting elements 8 and is attached thereto by means of self-drilling screws (not shown).
  • the vertical flange 20 of the upper sectional element 15 extends up over a substantial part of the vertical branches 8b of the upper supporting elements 8, and the vertical flange 19' of the lower sectional element 16' of the superjacent frame extends so far down over the vertical branches 8b of the upper supporting elements 8 that it overlaps the vertical flange 20 of the upper sectional element 15.
  • the supporting elements 3 and 8 are first attached to, respectively, the balcony slab 1 and the roof slab 2 in the manner described above. Then, the frame is so placed on the lower supporting elements 3 that their vertical branches 3b are received in the groove 18 formed in the lower sectional element 16. Thereafter, the vertical flange 20 of the upper sectional element 15 is pressed against the vertical branches 8b of the upper supporting elements 8 and is attached thereto by means of self-drilling screws.
  • the positions of the screws are optional within a vertically-extending area, i.e. the area in which the vertical flange 20 of the upper sectional element 15 overlaps the vertical branches 8b of the upper supporting elements 8, enabling any dimensional tolerances of the frame in the vertical direction to be accommodated.
