Claims (14)

  1. Device (1;19;32) for packaging and applying a cosmetic product (3) comprising a casing (2;25;33,34) capable of containing the said product, an applicator element (15;20;36) for applying this product and transfer means for supplying the applicator element with product taken from the casing, these transfer means comprising a coating roller (8) capable of turning inside the casing, this roller having a region (17) on its surface capable of coming into contact with the applicator element and of exerting contact pressure thereon, and a region of its surface capable of coming into contact with the product contained in the casing, the rotating of the roller transporting a load of product from one of the said regions to the other to transfer it, by virtue of the said contact pressure, onto the applicator element, characterized in that the coating roller (8) is connected to drive means (12;29) accessible to the user from outside the casing.
  2. Device according to Claim 1, characterized in that the applicator element is a rotary member (15;20,36).
  3. Device according to Claim 2, characterized in that the coating roller (8) and the said rotary member (15,20;36) are designed to turn one in contact with the other and have an evolutes ratio that is chosen to be such that the said rotary member makes at least one full revolution while the coating roller makes half a revolution or, as an alternative, a quarter of a revolution.
  4. Device according to one of Claims 2 and 3, characterized in that it comprises means capable of preventing the rotary member from rotating while the product is being applied to the skin.
  5. Device according to any one of Claims 1 to 4, characterized in that it comprises means (29) for removably attaching the applicator element (20) to the casing (25).
  6. Device according to Claim 5, characterized in that the said means of removable attachment comprise a pivoting lid (29) which rotates with the coating roller (8) and which can be closed down onto the applicator element to hold the latter on the casing.
  7. Device according to any one of Claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the coating roller is pressed against the applicator element by elastic return means.
  8. Device according to any one of Claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the applicator element (20) is pressed against the coating roller (8) by elastic return means (21').
  9. Device according to any one of Claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the said product (3) is contained in a removable reservoir (34).
  10. Device according to any one of Claims 1 to 9, characterized in that the casing has a transparent window (5) so that the product contained therein can be seen.
  11. Device according to any one of Claims 1 to 10, characterized in that the casing is shaped in such a way that the coating roller (8) isolates the applicator element from the cavity (4) containing the product.
  12. Device according to any one of Claims 1 to 11, characterized in that the coating roller (8) has a shape that mates with that of the applicator element (15).
  13. Device according to any one of Claims 1 to 12, characterized in that the applicator element is fixed so that it cannot rotate on a member for grasping which is removable and in that the applicator element is made of a cellular material or cellular elastomer material.
  14. Device according to any one of Claims 1 to 13, characterized in that the said coating roller is capable of deforming under the said contact pressure.
