Abstract

The container, comprising a base (2) with at least one compartment (3, 4) for a product (5, 6), a lid (20) that moves relative to the base, e.g. on a hinge (27), and one or more product applicators (7, 8), has locking studs (15, 18; 22, 23) on the base and lid that engage with holes (13, 14, 16, 17) in the applicators' handles (9, 11) to fasten the lid in the closed position and hold the applicators in place.

Description

The present invention relates to a housing as used in particular in the field cosmetics, for the packaging and application of certain cosmetic products make-up or skincare, such as eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks, mascaras or foundations.

Generally, make-up products are applied, either by means of an applicator, either directly with your fingers. The applicator, due to its relatively small dimensions, is sometimes difficult to find, especially in a handbag. In addition, it must be protected from dust or other dirt present in the handbag. Conversely, the applicator, on which it always remains of the residual product, must not soil the contents of the handbag. For all these reasons, the applicator is often protected inside a compartment, i.e. separate, either as part of a product packaging unit to apply, especially from a box. In the latter case, in order not to increase disproportionately the size of the case, the applicator is often of dimensions very small, which makes handling very difficult.

If the product is applied directly with the fingers, the consumer must have a nearby water point to wash your hands after application.

In many cases commonly used in the cosmetic field, a housing is placed opposite the product receptacle, and in which is arranged one or more removable applicators which the user uses to take a dose of the product, before applying it, by transfer, to the place wish. Generally, such an applicator comprises an application member such a tuft of fibers, a foam tip or a woven or non-woven material, possibly covered with a flocking.

Such a makeup case is described, for example in document FR-A-2,584 582. The makeup cases described in this document have a major drawback, linked to the fact that, after use, the user may forget to put the applicator back inside the case. So, during the next use, it no longer has any means to allow the application of the product.

An attempt was made to resolve this problem in application EP-0 960 582 in configuring the cover so that part of it is formed the handle of the applicator. So, in theory, it is not possible to close the applicator without replacing the applicator in place on the cover beforehand. The locking the housing in the closed position is effected by the cooperation between a part of the handle and a corresponding part of the bottom of the case.

A major drawback of this configuration is that it requires having a relatively wide applicator (typically, the width of the housing), and a relatively short sleeve, because the latter can only represent one portion of the length of the housing. Typically, the length of the handle corresponds substantially half the axial length of the housing.

However, in the field of makeup in particular, long and thin applicators are are preferable in order to improve the precision of the makeup and to facilitate the grip of the applicator.

A similar problem exists in a configuration as described in the U.S. Patent 6,073,634.

A sample applicator of a cosmetic product is described in US patent 5 031 647. The configuration described in this document poses a particular problem in handling the applicator due to its two-part configuration articulated. Application accuracy is seriously affected.

A case comprising a support on which a cosmetic product is presented is described in document DE 89 01 874. This case has a cover mounted on the support around a pivot. The support plans to store a applicator in a housing. To move from a closed position, in which the cover covers the support, in an open position giving access to the product, a rotational movement is involved with the cover relative to the support. This type of case poses a problem since the opening of the cover can take place in an undesired way as long as the closed position is not locked. In addition, in the closed position, part of the applicator is accessible from an upper face of the support and creates a lever arm to act on the cover contrary to the tolerated rotational movement.

It is therefore one of the objects of the present invention to produce a set packaging and application in the form of a box, and which resolves everything or part of the problems discussed above with reference to the devices conventional.

It is in particular an object of the invention to produce such a housing in which the risk of losing the applicator is significantly reduced.

It is another object of the invention to produce such a housing, including a applicator easy to handle, and allowing improved precision to the application.

It is yet another object of the invention to produce such a housing which is an original aesthetic, which is economical to produce and simple to use.

Other objects will appear in the detailed description which follows.

According to the invention, all or part of these objects are achieved by making a case, in particular for a cosmetic product, the case comprising:

  • i) a bottom defining at least one compartment intended to contain at least one product;
  • ii) a cover for closing the housing, the cover being movable relative to the bottom;
  • iii) at least one applicator for applying the product, said applicator being capable of being reversibly coupled to one of said bottom or of said cover, the other of said bottom or of said cover comprising locking means able to cooperate with complementary means for ensuring the reversible locking of the housing in the closed position, the complementary means being formed by said applicator or by at least one of said applicators, this (or these) latter (s) being, in the locked position of the cover on the bottom, content (s) entirely inside the case.
  • In other words, and unlike the application EP-0 960 582 mentioned above, the applicator does not participate in the constitution of any portion of the element (cover or bottom) to which it is intended to be coupled, the latter being defined in its entirety independently of the applicator.

Such a configuration of the housing according to the invention does not require (with the exception of constraints naturally imposed by the very nature of the object, and by its conditions of use) substantially no limit as to the length of the applicators, or as to their finesse. Conveniently, the length of the or applicators can be close to that of the housing. Its width can be chosen at will.

The locking of the housing in the closed position is effected by setting engagement of the cover (or bottom) with the applicator or with the applicators, it is not possible to forget to put these back in place inside the case, otherwise it could not be closed properly.

The closed position corresponds to a position in which the cover is completely folded over the bottom, and in which the cover prevents access compartments containing the product. The coupling of at least one applicator on the bottom (or the cover) is necessary to obtain the locking of the cover on the bottom, and maintaining said closed position.

When the housing is opened, the locking means of the housing are disengage additional resources trained by the applicator (s), this (or these) last (s) remaining integral (s) with the part of the case to which they are reversibly coupled.

Preferably, the applicator (s) is (are) removably coupled basically. This solution is advantageous insofar as it leaves a maximum surface area on the inside of the cover to, if necessary, affix a mirror. However, it is possible to couple the applicator (s) to the cover, and provide the mirror on a portion of the bottom.

Preferably, by "content (s) entirely inside the housing" means "inaccessible (s) from outside the case", ie "unfit (s) to be used (s) for all or part of the maneuver necessary to open the case ".

Preferably, the cover is mounted articulated on the bottom. The joint can be do this in particular by a film hinge or by an articulation with an added axis. Of preferably, in the case of a case of elongated shape along an X axis, the articulation takes place around an axis perpendicular to the axis of greatest length X.

Alternatively, the articulation is made around an axis parallel to the axis of more great length X.

Preferably, this articulation is made around an axis which is not orthogonal to a plane formed by the bottom of the housing. The longest axis X is defined in this plan. For example, this plane is defined by an upper face of the bottom, at the level of which is flush with the product presented in the compartment.

The applicator (s) may be able to be detached from the bottom (or from the cover) by a movement relative to the bottom (or cover) in a direction identical to the direction of movement of the cover relative to the bottom when engagement of the lid (or bottom) locking means with the complementary means of the applicator (s). In the case of a box comprising a cover hinged on the bottom, this direction is substantially perpendicular to the closing plane of the case, i.e. to the plane in which extends the opening of the compartment or compartments containing the product.

In this case, the force necessary to separate the one or more applicators relative to the bottom (or lid) is chosen so as to be greater than the force required to open the housing.

The applicator (s) can be coupled to the bottom (or lid) by tightening or by snap-fastening. Thus, each applicator may have a bore, in which is capable of tightly engaging a corresponding lug making projection from the bottom (or cover) of the housing.

Similarly, the engagement of the locking means of the cover (or bottom) with complementary means of the applicator (s) can be done by tightening or snap-fastening.

Thus, the applicator (s) may include a bore, in which is able to tightly engage a corresponding lug projecting from at the lid (or at the bottom). The bore for fixing the applicator to the bottom (or cover) may be separate from the hole for locking the cover (or bottom) on the applicator.

Alternatively, one and the same bore is used, said bore passing through the thickness of the applicator handle, the height of each lugs corresponding substantially to half the thickness of the handle. In this case however, the lug of the part of the housing comprising the locking means is preferably of slightly smaller cross section than the cross section of the lug of the part to which the applicator is coupled so that, when opening of the cover, the applicator or applicators remain integral with said part.

According to another embodiment, said applicator (s) are mounted on the bottom (or cover) so that it can be separated from the latter by a movement relative to the bottom (or lid) in a direction, different from the direction of movement of the cover relative to the bottom when setting engagement of the lid (or bottom) locking means with the complementary means of the applicator (s).

The movement of separation of said applicator (s) relative to the bottom (or lid) can be a movement in one direction perpendicular to the direction of movement of the cover relative to the bottom when engaging the lid locking means (or the background) with the complementary means of the applicator (s).

Preferably, the movement of separation of said applicator (s) relative to the bottom (or lid) is a movement in a direction parallel to an axis of articulation of the cover on the bottom.

Alternatively, the movement of separation of said applicator (s) relative to the bottom (or lid) is a movement in a direction perpendicular to an axis of articulation of the cover on the bottom.

Advantageously, said applicator (s), when they are coupled to the bottom are able to move from a first position in which the engagement lid locking means with the complementary means of the or applicators, in order to lock the housing in the closed position, is possible to a second position in which engagement is not possible.

Thus, in the first position, at least part of the applicator (s) can at least partially cover the compartment (s), in the second position, the or the applicators being at a distance from the compartment or compartments.

In this configuration, and preferably, the movement of separation of said applicator (s) relative to the bottom is possible essentially in the first position of said applicator (s). The passage from the first position to the second, and vice versa, can be done according to a pivot movement around an axis perpendicular to a plane containing a opening of the compartment or compartments delimited by the bottom.

Thus, in the case of a box using two applicators, the user extracts the applicator she wishes to use, and rotates the other so as to release access to the compartment containing the product to be sampled. She applies the product with the first applicator. After applying the product, she can put the first applicator in place, and extract the second, either to apply a product contained in a separate compartment, either to blend the applied product with the first.

Preferably, the housing according to the invention comprises a mirror, in particular on a inner side of the cover.

As mentioned previously, the case can include two applicators, the two applicators being able to be reversibly coupled to the bottom (or to the cover) and each comprising a complementary means capable of cooperating with corresponding locking means of the cover (or bottom) in view to ensure the reversible locking of the housing in the closed position. Alternately, only an applicator can be used to lock the cover on the bottom.

Alternatively again, the cover may include a first means of locking intended to cooperate with a complementary means formed by a first applicator removably coupled to the bottom, while the bottom comprises a second locking means intended to cooperate with a means complementary formed by a second applicator removably coupled to the lid. The snap becomes more symmetrical, and therefore, is better quality. At the opening, when the cover separates from the bottom, one of the applicators remains attached to the bottom, the other follows the cover.

The product (s) may be contained in one or more cups arranged in the compartment or compartments delimited by the bottom. The product can be cold or hot poured into the cups or compacted. The product can be also arranged directly in the compartment delimited by the bottom.

When the housing is elongated along an axis X, the applicator (s) are preferably oriented along said X axis.

The applicator (s) may have a handle, in particular flat, at the end from which is formed an applicator member, in particular a brush, a block of foam, brush, felt, or an elastomeric material.

The invention consists, apart from the arrangements set out above, of a certain number of other arrangements which will be explained below, with reference to nonlimiting exemplary embodiments, described with reference to the appended figures, among which:

    • Figure 1 is an exploded view relating to a first embodiment of the housing according to the invention;
    • Figures 2A and 2B relate to a second embodiment of the housing according to the invention; and
    • FIG. 3 represents a detailed view of a variant of the second embodiment.

According to the embodiment shown in Figure 1, the housing 1 is shaped elongated along an axis X. It comprises a bottom 2 delimiting two compartments 3 and 4. The compartment 3 is intended to receive a cup 5 containing a blush eyelids. The compartment 4 is intended to receive a cup 6 containing a blusher.

On the bottom 2 is articulated, via a film hinge 27, a cover 20. A mirror 21 is glued to the internal surface of the cover 20.

The housing also includes two applicators 7 and 8.

The applicator 7 comprises a flat handle 9 at the end of which is fixed a block of flocked foam 10. The applicator 7 is intended for applying the eyeshadow contained in the dish 5.

The applicator 8 comprises a flat handle 11 at the end of which is fixed a brush 12. The applicator 8 is intended for the application of the blush contained in the cup 6.

In the vicinity of its end opposite to the block of foam 10, the handle 9 of the applicator 7 is crossed by two holes 13, 14, aligned along the longitudinal axis of the applicator 7.

The first hole 13 is intended to tightly receive a lug 15 provided on the bottom 2, in the vicinity of its end opposite the film hinge 27, ensuring thus the reversible attachment of the applicator 7 on the bottom 2 of the housing.

The second hole 14 is intended to tightly receive a lug 22 provided on the internal surface of the cover 20, in the vicinity of its end opposite the film hinge 27, thus participating in the locking of the cover 20 on the bottom 2, and therefore to the reversible closure of the housing. The gripping force of the applicator 7 on the bottom 2 is greater than the latching force of the cover 20 on the applicator 7.

In the vicinity of its end opposite the brush 12, the handle 11 of the applicator 8 is crossed by two holes 16, 17, aligned along the longitudinal axis of the applicator 8.

The first hole 16 is intended to tightly receive a lug 18 provided on the bottom 2, in the vicinity of its end opposite the film hinge 27, ensuring thus the reversible attachment of the applicator 8 on the bottom 2 of the housing. The lugs 15 and 18 are arranged along an axis parallel to the axis of the hinge 27.

The second hole 17 is intended to tightly receive a lug 23 provided on the internal surface of the cover 20, in the vicinity of its end opposite the film hinge 27, thus completing the locking of the cover 20 on the bottom 2, already provided in part by the cooperation of lug 22 with hole 14 of the applicator 7. The gripping force of the applicator 8 on the bottom 2 is greater than the latching force of the cover 20 on the applicator 8.

In the mounted position of the applicators 7 and 8 on the bottom 2, these extend, at at least partly above compartments 3 and 4.

In use, the consumer causes the disengagement of the pins 22 and 23 of the respective bores 14 and 17 of the applicators 7 and 8. The attachment of the applicators 7 and 8 on the bottom 2 being more important than the attachment of the cover 20 on the applicators 7 and 8, the latter remain integral with the base 2.

It then rotates the cover 20 around the axis defined by the film hinge 27.

In the event that she wishes to apply eyeshadow, she causes the disengagement of the lug 15 relative to the bore 13 so as to release the applicator 7. It then rotates the applicator 8 around the lug 18 of so as to completely free access to compartments 3 and 4. It applies then the product in a conventional manner by means of the applicator 7, using the mirror 21 provided on the internal face of the cover 20.

It then returns the applicator 7 to its position on the lug 15.

If she then wants to apply blush, she causes disengagement of the lug 18 relative to the bore 16 so as to release the applicator 8. It then rotates the applicator 7 around the lug 15 so as to release totally access to compartments 3 and 4. She then applies the product of conventionally by means of the applicator 8.

Alternatively, she can use the applicator 8 before replacing the applicator 7.

After use, it reposition the two applicators 7 and 8 so on the bottom 2, orienting them along the X axis.

It closes the cover 20 by rotating it around the axis 27 in the direction reverse of the opening movement, until the pins 22 and 23 come into engagement respectively with the bores 14 and 17 of the applicators 7 and 8. The case is closed and locked. It can be returned to the handbag of the user, pending a new use.

The embodiment of Figures 2A and 2B differs from the previous essentially in the coupling of applicators 7 and 8 on the bottom 2.

Indeed, the bores 13 and 16 of the previous embodiment are replaced by notches 130, 160 opening onto an inner lateral edge of the applicators 7 and 8 respectively.

Thus, the mounting of the applicators 7 and 8 relative to the bottom is done by a movement of the applicators 7 and 8 perpendicular to their longitudinal axis and parallel to the hinge 27, in the plane of the delimited openings respectively by compartments 3 and 4, until the lugs 15 and 18 come into contact with the bottom of the notches 130 and 160 respectively. The disassembly is done by a reverse movement of the applicators 7 and 8 relative to the bottom 2.

In the mounted position of the applicators 7 and 8, when these are aligned according to the longitudinal axis X of the housing, the applicators cannot be separated from the bottom by a movement in a direction perpendicular to the plane of their sleeve 9 and 11 respectively insofar as the bottom 2, at its end opposite the hinge 27 forms a rim 19, preventing such movement. So at the opening of the case 1, the applicators 7 and 8 are not liable to separate from the bottom 2

It is the same, when the applicators 7 and 8 are not oriented along the longitudinal axis X of the housing. Indeed, when an applicator 7 is trained in pivot around the lug 15, so as to allow access to the compartments 3 and 4 by the other applicator 8, the applicator 7 cannot be separated from the base 2 by due to the presence of the rim 19 and the orientation of the notch 130, and in particular of its opening, relatively to the bottom 2. This is illustrated very clearly in Figure 2B.

The use of the housing according to this embodiment is also in all respects identical to what has been described with reference to the embodiment of FIG. 1. It will therefore not be resumed.

In the variant with a single applicator 7 of FIG. 3, the lug 15 has two truncated edges 150 and 151. The notch 130 opens, not laterally as in the embodiment of FIGS. 2A and 2B, but axially, via a entry / exit passage 131 of width slightly greater than the distance between the two truncated edges 150 and 151 of the lug 15, and less than the width of the lug 15 along its axis of greatest length. The entry / exit passage 131 is extended by a substantially circular portion 132 of diameter slightly greater than the largest dimension of lug 15. Thus, the applicator cannot be mounted on the bottom only by an axial movement, parallel to the sound plane sleeve 9, due to the shape of the entry / exit passage 131 relative to the shape of the lug 15 and due to the presence of the rim 19 formed by the bottom. In however, once mounted, the applicator 7 can pivot around the lug 15, the as shown in Figure 2B.

It follows from this configuration that when the case 1 is opened, the applicator 7 does not no risk of separating from the bottom 2. It is the same, when the applicator 7 is not oriented along the longitudinal axis X of the housing.

The operation of a housing 1 configured according to the variant of Figure 3 is identical to the operation of the embodiment of FIGS. 2A and 2B. He ... not will therefore not be repeated.

In the foregoing detailed description, reference has been made to modes of preferred embodiments of the invention. Obviously there may be variations made without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed below.
