Definitions
- the invention relates to an electrical connector (see e.g. EP-A-0 584 416) for contacting of a device provided with flat contacts, the Flat contacts arranged in the area of an outer wall of the device are, one intended to hold the device Connector housing one with at least one opening Has end wall and in the connector housing Contact springs are arranged, each with a fastening section fixed in the housing and with a Contact section carrying spring section by an associated Breakthrough of the front wall emerging from the housing after are biased outside, such that the respective spring section through an associated flat contact on the device can be pushed back approximately into the region of the end wall.
- the invention is preferably applicable for contacting of mobile phone handsets or similar devices.
- FIG 10 is schematic the arrangement of a mobile phone handset (cell phone) on one stationary receiving part (cradle) shown, in which the Invention is preferably used.
- This arrangement includes So a connector housing 1, which in the example as Motor vehicle slot is designed for a handset 2.
- a stationary connector contact set 3 housed while in the handset 2 a corresponding Mobile contact set 4 with arranged on the outer wall of the handset Flat contacts is provided.
- the aim of the present invention is to create an electrical Connector of the type mentioned, in which with a simple and easy to assemble the travel required for the frontal contact individual contact springs is guaranteed, but the exposed Contact spring areas kept as small as possible become; in this way, all contact spring parts that are not directly involved in making contact, be protected against contact and contamination if possible.
- this goal is achieved in that the spring section emerging from the housing of each contact spring arranged under an insulating protective hood which, in turn, is movably supported in the housing and by spring force through the opening of the housing to the outside is biased, with only the contact tip through a front window of the protective hood protrudes outwards.
- each contact spring has its own Has protective cover.
- one Connector provide a common protective cover, preferably for each contact tip a separate window in the Protective hood is recessed. Between the windows can on the protective hood integrally protrudes on the inside his.
- the preload of the protective hood to the outside is expedient by the respective contact spring or contact springs generated. Also the guiding and storage of the protective hood can be made by the contact springs below it his.
- the protective hood is in each case for a longitudinal movement in the housing perpendicular to the front stored.
- the Protective hood each over an approximately parallel to the end face arranged support arm around a also parallel to End face standing axis be pivoted. With accordingly This results in a long support arm - for the short movement section - also an almost vertical movement the protective hood to the front wall or to the contact surface.
- the Support arm can be a rigid lever, by the way Spring, preferably biased by the contact springs themselves becomes; the support arm can also in this case the contact springs themselves are formed.
- each contact spring between the fastening section and the contact section Deformation zone having at least one transverse to Direction of movement of the contact section extending spring arm having.
- a spring support made of insulating material arranged in the housing, on which the contact springs lie side by side in at least one row are attached, connecting flags as Extensions of the fastening sections on a printed circuit board are contacted in the housing.
- the contact springs alternately offset from each other by 180 ° in opposite open Chambers of the spring support are arranged such that their Contact tips lie in a single row while their Connection lugs two parallel rows on opposite Form sides of the spring support.
- the contact springs Connector housing as a stationary receiving part and that with the Device provided with flat contacts is described as a moving part are that, however, the other way round, the contact springs with the Protective hood in the moving part and the flat contacts in can be housed in a stationary housing or that optionally both parts of the connector assembly stationary and can be used flexibly.
- Figures 1 and 2 show a detailed view of an arrangement 10 shows a section of a stationary receiving part 1 and a handset 2 with one designed according to the invention Connector assembly.
- the handset is on a circuit board 6 a contact carrier 7 for individual contact elements 8 provided. These contact elements 8 are on contacted the circuit board 6 and form to the outside of the Handset 2 exposed flat contacts 9. These should contacted when inserting the handset 2 into the receiving part 1 become.
- a circuit board 10 is located in the stationary receiving part 1 arranged on the form of a connector contact assembly a female connector 11 sits.
- This female connector consists of a Spring support 12 made of insulating material with a variety of Contact springs 13 and with an insulating protective cover 14.
- the female connector 11 is on the circuit board 10 below one arranged in the receiving housing 1 provided opening 15, so that the contact springs over the opening 15 with the flat contacts 9 come into contact.
- This contact section 19 extends through the opening 15 of the housing through to the outside and is hairpin-shaped at its outer end to a contact tip 20 as the actual contacting zone Form contact spring.
- the free end of the contact spring is each angled to a hook 21, which from the inside on one Web 22 attacks the protective hood and this through the opening 15 pushes outwards.
- the protective hood 14 covers the entire series of contact springs 13 and forms on its upper side for the contact section 19 a spring chamber of each contact spring 23 with an open window 24 through which the Contact tip 20 is exposed to the outside. Insulate partition walls 25 the individual spring chambers from each other. Stop shoulders 26 limit the protective hood in cooperation with the inner edges of the opening 15 after the movement of the protective hood 14 Outside.
- the contact springs 13 of the same design are alternately rotated by 180 ° from opposite sides in the mounting chambers 16 of the spring support 12 inserted.
- the protective hood is placed on the contact springs and through Snap connected to the spring support.
- the Ends of the protective hood provided locking cams 27 at the ends Tabs 28 locked with snap hooks 29 of the spring support 12. This locking allows free movement of the Protective hood 14 against the spring force inwards. she is also designed so that both parts to each other be able to move something at an angle.
- the contact springs have extensions of their fastening sections 17 each connecting lugs 30, which are used as SMT connections are formed and on contact surfaces of the printed circuit board 10 to be soldered. This will make the female connector on the circuit board contacted and attached, being opposed by the inserted fastening sections 17 the arrangement is additionally stabilized in itself.
- FIG. 6 to 9 Another embodiment of the connector according to the invention is shown in Figures 6 to 9. As far as it is concerned the same or equivalent parts, they carry the same Reference numerals as in the previous embodiment. So there is a circuit board in the receiving housing 1 10 arranged on the now a slightly modified Female connector 41 is attached. This consists of a spring support 42, a series of contact springs 43 and a protective hood 44. The contact springs are side by side in a row each with a fastening section 47 on the spring support 42 attached, with an alternating height offset the insulation distance is increased. An almost parallel spring arm 52 arranged to end wall 33 forms in each case a zone of deformation.
- the protective hood 44 has one another separate spring chambers 45, in each of which a contact section 46 of a contact spring 43 is arranged. Through a Window 50 protrudes one contact tip 48 to the outside.
- the Contact sections 46 are otherwise the same or similar like the contact sections 19 in the previous Embodiment, so that a description of the details is not required.
- the length of the support arm 49 arises approximately for the actual protective hood 44 also a movement perpendicular to the end face 18 so that the function in the contacting process in this embodiment is the same as the previous one.
