Abstract

The protector consists of a protection section (5) between panels (1,2) of the door which rotate at a hinged connection during opening or closing. The protection section spans the gap between the panels and has a section (7) attached to but not integral with the end (3) of one panel and extended by a curved section (7a) arching across and attached to end (4) of the second panel. The protection section is made from plastics or metal. The protection section flexes as the panels rotate w.r.t. one another. The gap between the projecting ends (3c,4c) of the panels which tends to narrow as the door is closed is filled by the protection section.

Description

The invention relates to a finger protection device for a sectional door according to the preamble of claim 1.

Sectional doors are to be referred to below as all types of doors and gates which have at least two sections which are arranged one above the other or next to one another and are connected to one another in an articulated manner, the separating joints between the sections being able to run vertically or horizontally. Such sectional doors are known in a variety of designs. They are used, for example, as garage or industrial doors. If no finger protection is provided, the opening and closing of the gates between adjacent sections temporarily creates gap-like openings in which a finger can be squeezed or even separated if handled carelessly.

To avoid this danger, sectional doors can be equipped with a finger protection device.

A finger protection device of the type mentioned is known from German utility model DE 89 10 518 U1. Here, a sealing strip is provided, which has a sealing lip with a wedge-shaped, straight-lined cross section. The sealing strip is inserted into a groove along a longitudinal narrow side of a first section, and the sealing lip projects into a groove of an adjacent second section. Both the groove and the groove are integrally formed with the respective sections, so that the finger protection device can only be attached to sectional doors specially provided for this purpose.

The Austrian patent specification AT 390 297 B shows a further finger protection device in which a first section has a circular-cylindrical projection which engages in a longitudinal recess provided on a second section. The curved projection is an integral part of a main load-bearing section of the first section, which is also used, for example, for fastening a hinge for connecting the door sections to one another.

Weitere Fingerschutzeinrichtungen sind aus Fig. 6 des Artikels "Sectional-Tore mit Fingerschutz" von Ing. Hugo Wagner, TÜR + TOR-REPORT, 12. Jahrg., 1. Further finger protection devices are known from Fig. 6 of the article "Sectional gates with finger protection" by Ing. Hugo Wagner, TÜR + TOR-REPORT, 12th year, 1st quarter 1992, pages 10 and 12. The main sections of the individual sections are integrally formed with the protective and edge sections. The sections are complexly shaped on the longitudinal edges to provide interlocking finger protection.

It is an object of the invention to develop a finger protection device of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that it can be provided inexpensively and simply for a number of designs of sectional doors. In particular, the finger protection device should also be retrofittable on existing gates. Furthermore, the finger protection device should be reliably attachable to the sections.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by a finger protection for gates of the type mentioned at the outset, which has the features of claim 1.

The function of the finger protection is brought about by the interaction of edge sections with special finger protection profiles, the profiles not being an integral part of the main sections. Therefore, conventional, simply shaped (for example rectangular) main sections can be used to build the gate. Such major sections are much less expensive to manufacture and in a much greater variety than those above described sections with integral finger protection profile. The sections can also be produced in the width and thickness most suitable for the door, in particular also from commercially available profiles or folded profiles, without having to take finger protection into account.

Because the finger protection profile according to the invention is to be firmly connected to the main section of the first section and can additionally be supported on the edge section of the first section, a particularly stable attachment of the finger protection profile to the first section is possible, even if the first section is relative has large dimensional tolerances or is bent.

The "main section" of a section need not necessarily be an integral workpiece. Rather, it can be composed of several parts that are firmly connected to one another. This is the case, for example, with the gate of the Austrian patent specification AT 390 297 B, in which the main section of each section has two U-profiles and at least one intermediate piece.

The profiles of the finger protection device produced according to the invention are firmly connected to the main sections, for example screwed, glued, clamped or riveted. This can be done either during the manufacture of the sectional doors or subsequently at the construction site, for example if the client has applied the special covering to the sectional door. The fastening means for the finger protection profile preferably do not penetrate the edge section of the first section, so that they are not visible from the outside.

According to the invention, the profiles of the finger protection device can be made of plastic, preferably by extrusion or continuous casting. This version has the typical advantages of plastics, for example low weight. When a flexible plastic is used, the profiles can be made elastic. The profiles made of plastic are preferably relatively thin and have a material thickness of at most 4 mm. The profiles are preferably free of voids.

Profiles according to the invention can also be made from sheet metal, in particular from aluminum, iron or steel sheet, which can be relatively thin and preferably has a thickness of at most 1.5 mm or 1 mm. The profiles are formed from the sheet by forming, i.e. bent, drawn, pressed or rolled. Their production from commercially available rolled profiles is also possible. The production is inexpensive and possible in any desired size without complex special machines and tools. A finger protection profile fits many different profiles made of steel or aluminum, which are used to manufacture sections for sectional doors. The metal sheet can be painted or optically adapted to the sectional door by other surface treatment.

In addition to finger protection, the profiles preferably also have the task of sealing the spaces between the sections, for example against drafts, rain and dust. This happens either in that the overlapping protective, edge and cover sections form a labyrinth seal (swirl chamber), or in that the finger protection profiles attached to the first sections have at least one sealing lip, each with a region of the first section and / or engages an area of an adjacent second section.

Profiles according to the invention do not have the task of guiding the individual sections or of connecting them to one another in an articulated manner. They are therefore preferably free of direct positive, material or non-positive connections with other sections or profiles. If you do without the sealing function, you can the spacing of the profiles at the overlap areas should be quite large as long as it only prevents a finger from getting between them. Therefore, the profiles can also be manufactured with large tolerances.

A particularly good protection and sealing effect is achieved if a cover section is attached to the second section and forms at least one overlap section of the second section with the protective section and / or the edge section of the first section, the cover section being made of a plastic or sheet metal Cover profile is formed and each cover profile mounted on the sectional door is firmly connected to the main section of an associated second section, but is not integral with it.

In order to achieve a uniform and relatively narrow spacing of the protective and covering sections in each pivoting position of the sectional door, each protective section is preferably shaped so that its arcuate cross-section essentially corresponds to an arc of a circle, the center of which with the finger protection device mounted on the pivot axis of the respective first and second sections to each other. Furthermore, the cover section of each cover profile, if present, can be curved in an arcuate cross section. In particular, it makes sense if the curvature of each protective section and / or cover section, which is arcuate in cross section, essentially corresponds to an arc of a circle, the center of which, when the finger protection device is mounted, lies on the pivot axis of the respective first and second sections.

Adjacent protective, edge and cover sections are preferably shaped in such a way that the overlapping areas are at a small distance from one another and are at a substantially constant distance from each pivoting position that occurs when the sectional door is used. This will make everyone occurring pivoting of the sections reliably prevents a finger from being pinched.

A visually more uniform picture of the sectional door is obtained if, when the sectional door is viewed from the outside, the adjacent edge sections of those sections which are coplanar (i.e. in a common plane) predominantly cover the profiles behind them. Then it is not necessary to visually adapt the profiles to the outside of the sections.

In order to allow a particularly large pivoting angle of the sections, the curvature of each protective and / or covering section which is arcuate in cross section can be substantially semicircular.

It is particularly advantageous if a cavity is left free between the finger protection profile attached to the first section and the main section or the edge section of the first section. This cavity provides space for the heads of fasteners, such as screws or rivets, that hold the covering on the front of the door. If, for example, a wooden covering is screwed on from the inside of the door, the finger protection profile can easily be retrofitted. Since the finger guard is only screwed to the respective main section (and not to other fitting parts such as hinges, hinges, bearings of drives and so on), only the finger guard needs to be removed when removing the covering.

A finger guard according to the invention, in particular one that allows a large pivoting range of the sections, is not only suitable for use on sectional doors, but also for all types of doors and gates pivotably mounted on frames. In this case, a section is formed from the actual door, the gate or a door or gate leaf and the second section is a section of the frame. One of the profiles of the finger protection device can also serve as a frame and be firmly anchored in the masonry. The other profile is then attached to the pivoting door leaf.

Ebenso weist die Sektion 2 einen Hauptabschnitt 4 mit einem Randabschnitt 4c und einer Aussparung 6 auf.1 to 11 each show two adjacent sections 1 and 2 of a sectional door, which are separated by an intermediate space 10. The section 1 has a main section 3 with an edge section 3c and a recess 5 which is on two sides of the main section 3 and the edge section 3c is limited. Section 2 also has a main section 4 with an edge section 4c and a recess 6.

Sections 1 and 2 are connected to one another in an articulated manner by hinges (not shown) attached to main sections 3 and 4 and can be pivoted relative to one another about an axis 9.

6 ergeben. The edge sections 3c and 4c shown in FIGS. 1 to 11 project in the direction of the intermediate space 10 from the main sections 3 and 4. They are thinner than the main sections 3 and 4, so that the recesses 5 and 6 result behind the edge sections 3c and 4c.

A finger protection profile 7 and, if present, a cover profile 8 are arranged in the recesses 5 and 6 behind the edge sections 3c and 4c. As a result, the profiles 7 and 8 are only visible from the front of the sectional door through the space 10. To the rear, the profiles 7 and 8 do not protrude beyond the main sections 3 and 4.

The finger protection profile 7 has an arcuate protection section 7a, a fastening section 7b, a contact surface 7g and a connecting section 7h. The cover profile 8 shown in FIGS. 3 to 11 has a cover section 8a curved in the shape of a circular arc and a fastening section 8b.

The main sections 3 and 4 of the sections 1 and 2 shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 each have a hat profile 3b and 4b, which is clad at the front of the sectional door with a sheet metal covering 3a and 4a. At the edge sections 3c and 4c, the sheet metal covering 3a and 4a is each bent around an edge of the hat profile 3b and 4b. The fastening section 7b, designed as a flange, of the finger protection profile 7 is provided with fastening holes 7c for fastening the profile 7 to the hat profile 3b. The finger protection profile 7 rests on the fastening section 7b and on a non-curved contact surface 7g on the hat profile 3b. A cavity 11 is formed between these surfaces and can accommodate a screw head, for example.

The finger protection profile 7 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 furthermore has three sealing lips 7d, 7e and 7f made of rubber, which are each arranged on the curved protective section 7a. The lip 7d arranged at the end of the protective section 7a engages in all pivoting positions of the sectional door in the hat profile 4b of the adjacent section 2 and the lip 7f in the edge section 3c of section 1, while the lip 7e with the coplanar alignment of the sections 1 and 2 in the Edge section 4c of the adjacent section 2 engages.

In Fig. 1, the sections 1 and 2 are coplanar, that is, in a position in which the main planes of the sections coincide. This is the case, for example, with a closed sectional door. The intermediate space 10 is relatively small here and the arcuate protective section 7a of the finger protection profile 7 overlaps essentially completely with the projecting edge section 4c of the adjacent section 2.

In Fig. 2, the sections 1 and 2 are pivoted against each other. Such a position occurs, for example, during the opening of the gate in those sections which are currently being transferred from a vertical to a horizontal position. The space 10 is relatively large here and the protective section 7a of the finger protection profile 7 overlaps only about half with the edge section 4c of the adjacent section 2. A finger can only be inserted into the space 10 until it abuts the finger protection profile 7. Since the protective section 7a of the finger protection profile 7 is located at a short distance behind the edge sections 3c and 4c, a pinching of the finger between the ends of the edge sections 3c and 4c becomes Edges reliably prevented, even if the sections 1 and 2 are brought back into the coplanar orientation of FIG. 1.

In FIG. 3, the cover profile 8 forming the cover section 8a is fastened with a fastening section 8b designed as a flange to the hat profile 4c provided with fastening holes 4d. The sections 7a and 8a of the profiles 7 and 8 which are curved in the form of a circular arc are equidistant from one another. Since the centers of the circles defined by the cross sections of the sections 7a and 8a lie on the pivot axis 9 of the sections 1 and 2, the equidistant arrangement of the sections 7a and 8a is maintained in any pivoting position that occurs when the sectional door is used.

Fig. 4 stellt eine Fingerschutzeinrichtung an zwei T-Profilen eines Tores dar, Fig. 5 in C-Profile eingebaut, Fig. 6 an Holzprofilen, Fig. 7 an Stahlzargen, Fig. 8 an zwei Hutprofilen, Fig. 9 an zwei Z-Profilen, Fig. 10 an zwei C-Profilen und Fig. 11 an zwei Anschlagrohr-Profilen.4 to 11 show further possible configurations of a finger protection device according to the invention, sections mainly shown from commercially available profiles being shown. Fig. 4 shows a finger protection device on two T-profiles of a door, Fig. 5 installed in C-profiles, Fig. 6 on wooden profiles, Fig. 7 on steel frames, Fig. 8 on two hat profiles, Fig. 9 on two Z- Profiles, Fig. 10 on two C-profiles and Fig. 11 on two stop tube profiles.

In particular in the embodiment shown in FIG. 7, in which the finger protection or cover profiles 7 and 8 each have an essentially semicircular finger protection or cover section 7a and 8a, the sections 1 and 2 are mutually up to 180 ° pivotable.
