Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a portable device for dispensing a fluid substance (liquid or pasty), intended in particular for dispensing, with or without spraying, a cosmetic product, a perfume, a medicament or the like. More particularly, the invention relates to such a device equipped with a pump, generally actuated using a finger of one hand or possibly actuated automatically.
  • fluid substance distribution pumps are known, for example those described in documents FR-A-2 305 241, FR-A-2 314 772 (and corresponding document US-A-4 025 046), FR- A-2 343 137, FR-A-2 403 465 (and corresponding document US-A-4 245 967), FR-A-2 399 286 and EP-A-0 486 378.
  • These pumps include a cylindrical pump body hollow in which a piston slides, the pump body and the piston delimiting a pump chamber.
  • the pump chamber communicates with an inlet passage via an inlet valve, and with an outlet passage via an outlet valve.
  • the inlet valve can be a non-return valve or a slide valve, which closes by relative sliding of two parts when the piston is moved from a rest position.
  • the piston is also controlled by an actuating rod which is biased towards its rest position by a return spring.
  • the pumps are manufactured by a specialist company, then sent to other companies (which we will call conditioners: pharmaceutical laboratories, manufacturers of cosmetics or perfumes, etc.) where they are mounted on tanks (glass or plastic, metal can, etc.) previously filled with the substance to be dispensed.
  • conditioners pharmaceutical laboratories, manufacturers of cosmetics or perfumes, etc.
  • the pump body has an open end through which the internal organs of the pump are mounted.
  • This mechanical connection between the pump body and the stop member is generally only useful for transporting and storing the pump before it is mounted on the tank, so that it represents an unnecessary additional cost (additional operation in the manufacturing process, for example crimping, or complexity of parts).
  • the device is delivered to the packer in two parts: the internal rod on the one hand, and the rest of the assembled device, on the other hand.
  • the stop member is fixed to the reservoir, which keeps the pump assembled while avoiding a direct mechanical connection between the stop member and the pump body.
  • the stop member keeps the pump mounted on the tank. Due to the fact that the second end of the internal rod constitutes the inlet valve of the pump, the intake duct remains permanently open before mounting the internal rod. So the conditioner can easily fill the tank through the central channel of the outer sleeve of the actuating rod.
  • the final assembly of the pump, after filling, is very simple, since it consists simply in fitting the internal rod into the central channel of the external sleeve of the actuating rod.
  • the stop member When the stop member is snapped in, it is particularly useful that its fixing is irreversible, or at least that the stop member cannot be removed without damage by simple manual pulling on the actuating rod, for the purpose avoid not only involuntary dislocations of the device, but also fraud or subsequent filling of the tank after complete emptying.
  • the opening of the reservoir is delimited by a cylindrical longitudinal lateral surface of revolution which has a periphery having two or three circular sectors hollowed out regularly distributed and separated by circular sectors not hollowed out, each hollowed-out circular sector forming an angle of at least 60 ° at the center of said opening, said hollowed-out sectors defining a shoulder which is directed towards the interior of the tank and which forms with said lateral surface an angle less than or equal to 90 °, and the abutment member comprises an elastic collar flared towards the outside of the reservoir, said elastic collar having, when it is not deformed, an external diameter greater than the diameter of said lateral surface, to cause an expansion of said collar in the circular recessed sectors when said collar is fitted into the opening of the reservoir.
  • the opening of the reservoir comprises two hollow circular sectors each forming an angle of at least 90 °.
  • this expansion mounting of an elastic flange is not specifically limited to the fixing of the abutment member of the aforementioned device, but applies to the irreversible fixing of any dispenser body in a tank opening. : It suffices that the opening of the reservoir has a shoulder forming a stop for the body of the distributor and recessed circular sectors, and that the body of the distributor or a separate stop member has the elastic flange.
  • the abutment member when the pump operates with air intake and the reservoir is non-deformable, provision may be made for the abutment member to be in sealed peripheral contact with the reservoir and the external sleeve of the actuating rod is in peripheral contact watertight with the stop member, when said external sleeve abuts against the stop member, the internal rod of the actuating rod being separated from the stop member by an annular air intake passage, the body of pump comprising an external axial groove which communicates the interior of the tank with said annular air intake passage.
  • the external sleeve of the actuating rod comprises at least one part which projects radially inside the stop member to allow said external sleeve to be moved against the action of the return spring, when the internal rod is not mounted in the external sleeve.
  • the return spring is a spring working in compression, mounted between the piston and the external sleeve, and said return spring biases the piston towards the inlet end of the pump body, the pump body having a piston stop which limits the movement of the piston towards the inlet end.
  • the return spring is mounted between the external sleeve and the pump body, and the pump also comprises a second spring mounted between the external sleeve and the piston to urge the piston towards a position where it obscures the lateral opening of the actuating rod.
  • the return spring is mounted between the piston and the pump body to urge the piston towards the open end of the pump body
  • the pump also comprises a second spring, which has a higher stiffness to the return spring and which is mounted between the piston and the external sleeve to urge the external sleeve towards the open end of the pump body.
  • FIG. 1 shows a first embodiment of the invention.
  • the device of the invention firstly comprises a reservoir 1, intended to contain a fluid substance to be dispensed.
  • the reservoir has the shape of a cylindrical revolution with a side wall 1a which extends axially between an open end 2 and a bottom 1b.
  • the reservoir 1 has internally a shoulder 3, directed towards the open end 3 of the reservoir, and moreover, between the shoulder 3 and the open end 2, the inner surface of the side wall has a circular periphery which has two diametrically opposite recessed circular sectors 17 and separated by two non-recessed circular sectors 18, as can be seen in FIG. 3.
  • a shoulder 3 directed towards the open end 3 of the reservoir, and moreover, between the shoulder 3 and the open end 2
  • the inner surface of the side wall has a circular periphery which has two diametrically opposite recessed circular sectors 17 and separated by two non-recessed circular sectors 18, as can be seen in FIG. 3.
  • the recessed circular sectors 17 form an angle ⁇ at the center of the side wall 1a which is greater than approximately 60 °, and preferably greater than approximately 90 °.
  • the recessed sectors 17 can be 3 in number, although this is less preferred.
  • the reservoir 1 is molded from plastic and the hollow sectors 17 are obtained by means of two parallel recesses 27 which pass through the reservoir 1 perpendicularly to its axis of revolution, and which can be easily made by means of two sliding rods in a tank injection mold.
  • the recessed sectors 17 each define a shoulder 19, which is directed towards the interior of the tank and which forms with the inner surface 20 of the side wall 1a an angle substantially equal to 90 ° or possibly less.
  • the hollowed-out sectors 17 can be produced by hot knurling if the tank is in green.
  • the device further comprises a pump which has a pump body 4 fitted into the tank 1, and which rests against the shoulder 3 of said tank 1. All the parts of the pump are generally made of plastic , with the exception of springs, generally metallic.
  • the pump body 4 defines an inner hollow cylinder 5 which has a longitudinal axis 5a and said pump body 4 extends axially between an open end 4a directed towards the open end 2 of the reservoir, and an inlet end 4b which comprises an intake duct 8 communicating with the reservoir 1 via a dip tube 28.
  • the intake duct 8 advantageously comprises an inner peripheral sealing lip 8a.
  • the dip tube 28 is shown as being formed in one piece with the pump body but it could be more conventionally fixed to the pump body.
  • the pump also comprises an annular piston 6, which slides with sealing inside the cylinder 5.
  • the pump further comprises an actuating rod 7, 12, which is formed of two parts which will be described in more detail below.

  • the second end 12b comprises a guide rod 12c which slides permanently without sealing in the lip 8a and a wider part 12d, adapted to penetrate into the lip 8a with sealing.
  • the actuating rod 7, 12 further comprises a blind outlet duct 13 which opens axially at the first end 12a of the actuating rod and which opens laterally through a lateral orifice 14, 15 inside the pump body .

  • the pump also comprises a return spring 9, which works in compression and which is mounted between the actuating rod 12, 7 and the piston 6, by urging the actuating rod 12, 7 towards the open end 4a of the pump body, and by biasing the piston 6 towards the inlet end 4b of the pump body.
  • the pump body has a stop 24, which limits the movement of the piston 6 towards the inlet end 4b.
  • the device comprises an abutment member 10 of annular shape, which is traversed axially by the actuating rod 12, 7, and which limits the movement of said actuating rod 12, 7 towards the open end 4a of the reservoir, by abutment of an external shoulder 7a of the actuating rod against said abutment member 10.
  • the abutment member 10 comprises an elastic flange 21 which is flared towards the open end 2 of the reservoir, and which, when 'it is not deformed, has an external diameter slightly greater than the internal diameter of the reservoir.
  • the stop member 10 is forced into the tank 1, until the crown 21 reaches the level of the hollow sectors 17, in which it expands by producing a very solid snap-fit.
  • the stop member thus defines a rest position of the actuating rod 12, 7.
  • the piston 6 obscures the lateral orifice 14, 15 of the outlet duct 13 , and only the guide rod 12c of the second end 12b of the actuating rod enters the intake duct 8, without closing said intake duct in a sealed manner.

  • the piston 6 releases the lateral orifice 14, 15 from the outlet conduit which communicates with the pump chamber 11, which allows the emission of the dose of fluid substance contained in the pump chamber 11.
  • the piston 6 comes to bear against the stop 24 and the actuating rod is again moved in the direction of the open end 4a of the pump body under the action of the return spring 9, which firstly has the effect that the piston 6 again obscures the lateral orifice 14, 15, which isolates the pump chamber 11, and that a vacuum is created in the pump 11.
  • the actuation rod slides without sealing inside the stop member 10, so that an annular air intake passage 22 is formed between the actuation rod and the stop member 10.
