Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a protective and wedging packaging for a spectacle lens or the like, to the blank for making the receptacle for such packaging and to the method of packaging the object in this packaging.
  • the present invention relates to the packaging by unit of a spectacle lens when this packaging is carried out using a packaging in two parts, that is to say comprising an external envelope and, in the latter, a receptacle suitable for protecting and wedging the spectacle lens.
  • the receptacle most often used for a spectacle lens is a shell in thermoformed synthetic material having at mid-height a shoulder for the support of the spectacle lens and thus the suspension thereof, and a outer envelope, of cardboard comprising, in addition to a cylindrical side wall of rectangular cross section, two closure flaps suitable for closing it at each of its ends.
  • the receptacle does not lend itself well to the reception of spectacle lenses of different geometric characteristics.
  • these spectacle lenses vary widely in peripheral diameter, in radial curvature, and in thickness from one lens to another, but also vary in thickness depending on the location of the periphery on a progressive glass.
  • the present invention relates to a protective packaging and wedging minimizing these drawbacks which applies to the protection and wedging of many products of general shape similar to that of a spectacle lens.
  • the following products can thus be cited as examples: pharmaceutical and medical products - beauty products - decorative objects - medals and decorations - jewelry, watches - computer products - portable measuring instruments - spare parts and accessories - sporting and leisure articles - food products - stationery - advertising objects - containers: pots, boxes and cases, and all their equivalents as well as the field of optical components for photography, cinema, television, visual observation and shots, including lenses, lenses and filters and all their equivalents.
  • the invention relates to a protective and wedging package made entirely of cardboard, corrugated cardboard or other sheet material suitable for wedging spectacle glasses formed of a sheath in which a receptacle slides to engage. , as described in claim 1.
  • this packaging accepts different glasses of different geometric characteristics and the packaging operation can easily be automated.
  • the receptacle automatically centers around the glass to be protected and simultaneously center the glass as it is set in volume.
  • the receptacle that this packaging contains is advantageously available flat, and, like the outer envelope with which it is associated, it can advantageously be made of cardboard or corrugated cardboard if desired by taking advantage of the qualities of lightness, ease folding and rigidity of this type of material.
  • the present invention also relates to a blank suitable for producing a single piece of such a receptacle and a method of packaging and wedging an object in such a receptacle, in accordance with claims 17 and 18.
  • the applications of the invention extend without limitation to commercial objects other than ophthalmic products of the type of spectacle lenses relating to the following fields: pharmaceutical and medical products beauty - decorative items - medals and decorations - jewelry, watches - computer products - portable measuring instruments - spare parts and accessories - sporting and leisure articles - food products - stationery - advertising items - containers: pots, boxes and cases, and all their equivalents as well as the field of optical components for photography, cinema, television, visual observation and shooting, in particular objectives, lenses and filters and all their equivalents.
  • a spectacle lens As will be easily understood, it is a matter of keeping an object of general shape equivalent or approaching that of a spectacle lens, but more particularly of generally flat and approximately cylindrical shape with opposite planar or curved faces, set back or projecting but also with opposite faces of any shape, regular or not.
  • the shape of the lateral surface may vary, for example a shape of oblong, polygonal or other section.
  • the description below uses as an example a spectacle lens referenced 10. It is understood that the conditioned object can vary in its shape and in its nature. It suffices that it can materially be contained in the packaging, that is to say be surrounded and wedged by the erected cardboard shapes described below.
  • the example of the spectacle lens used below applies to all the products likely to be packaged in this packaging.
  • the unit packaging of this spectacle lens 10, with an upper surface 11, is done using a packaging 12 comprising, in an external envelope 13, a receptacle 14 suitable for its protection and its setting.
  • the receptacle 14 has a bottom panel 15 quadrangular, preferably square, on which the spectacle lens 10 is deposited, and, along two opposite edges of this bottom panel 15, preferably flush with these, two box edges 16 of quadrangular section, for example rectangular.
  • These box edges are articulated in a deformable parallelogram to the bottom panel between a retracted position (FIG. 7A) in which they extend flat on the plane of the bottom panel and an erected position (FIGS. 1,4,7C and 7D) in which they stand perpendicular to it.
  • These box edges 16 have on their internal side panel 18, flush with the bottom panel 15 according to arrangements described in more detail later, a cutout 19, constituting a wedge opening for the partial insertion of the object to be packaged : glasses glass or other.
  • this conformation is shown for example to be well suited for immobilizing a pair of glasses with or without glasses, for example a pair of sunglasses which is thus sufficiently protected for the current needs of the transport, delivery and possibly sale and use.
  • the two box rims 16 are identical and extend parallel to each other, resting their full width on the bottom panel 15.
  • Each of them successively comprises, separated by parallel fold lines 22, a side panel 23 connected in one piece to the bottom panel 15 by a fold line 24, and a front panel 25.
  • the fold line 24 forming the corresponding edge of the bottom panel 15 is parallel to the previous fold lines 22.
  • the two box edges 16 comprise, in addition to the side panel 18 having the cutout 19, a connecting panel 26 by which each box is secured by gluing to the bottom panel 15.
  • the side panels 18 and 23 have the same width. This width corresponds to the height of the box edges 16.
  • the receptacle 14 further comprises closing flaps 27 which, at a height at most equal to that of the box edges 16, are each respectively connected in one piece to the bottom panel 15 along the other two edges thereof, by fold lines 28 which, forming the corresponding edges of this bottom panel 15, are perpendicular to the fold lines 22, 24 of the box edges 16.
  • the closing flaps 27 are connected to the box rims 16 by corner joints, for example, bellows 30 with median fold line 31 coming, in practice at 45 °, from the corresponding angle of the bottom panel 15, and of the opposite fold direction from that of the fold lines 22, 24 of the box edges 16.
  • Each of these bellows 30 is connected to the closing flap 27 and to the side panel 23 which it connects by fold lines in the same direction as the fold lines 22, 24 of the box edges 16, namely, for the flap of closure 27, a fold line 32, which, perpendicular to the fold line 28 of this closure flap 27, is in line with the fold line 24 of the side panel 23, and, for the side panel 23, a line folding 33 which, perpendicular to the folding line 24 of this side panel 23, is in line with the folding line 28 of the closure flap 27.
  • the central fold line 31 of the bellows 30 is locally interrupted by a cut 35.
  • this cutout 35 extends to the fold line 32, and it replaces it over part of its length.
  • the bellows 30 have a general shape in an arc.
  • the lateral edges 36 of the cutout 19 that each boxed rim 16 has on its innermost side panel 18 are generally oblique in shape with respect to the bottom panel 15, converging one towards the other. other as they move away from it.
  • these lateral edges 36 have a geometric outline depending on the application envisaged with a view to keeping the object in place. They are for example each rounded in an arc of a circle, or in an arch segment having both the same center, and, coming from the fold line 22 of the side panel 18 which they affect, by interrupting locally this fold line 22 at one of their ends.
  • lateral edges 36 are possible. Some of them are described below.
  • a cutting line 38 parallel to this straight edge 37 truncates at its end the tongue 40 released in the side panel 18 by the cutout 19, and this tongue 40 extends in one piece with the adjacent connecting panel 26, in locally extending it in its middle part.
  • the receptacle 14 comes entirely from a single blank 14 ′, made of cardboard, corrugated cardboard or other sheet material suitably cut, creased and folded.
  • FIG. 5 in which the blank 14 ′ is shown developed flat, and in a conventional manner, the cutting lines are represented in solid lines, and the creasing lines, and therefore of folding lines, are represented in dashes when they correspond to a first direction of folding, and dashed when they correspond to the direction of folding opposite to the previous one.
  • the side panels 23 of the box edges 16 border the bottom panel 15 alternately with the closing flaps 27, and counting from these side panels 23, extend, successively aligned with each other , for each of the box edges 16, the front panel 25, the side panel 18 and the connection panel 26.
  • connection panels 26 After gluing of the connection panels 26, as shown diagrammatically by hatching in FIG. 5, the front panels 25, the side panels 18 and the connection panels 26 are folded over the rest of the blank 14 ′, by folding 180 ° around the fold line 22 intermediate between the side panels 23 and the front panels 25.
  • glasses glasses 10 For its volume on its places of use, and therefore for the constitution of the receptacle 14 according to the invention, it is sufficient, after laying on the bottom panel 15, according to the arrow F1 of FIG. 7A, glasses glasses 10 to be conditioned, to exert a pushing action on the two opposite edges of this blank 14 'corresponding to the box edges 16, according to the double arrows F2 in FIG. 7A.
  • the box edges 16 then pass by themselves in an erected position, standing perpendicular to the bottom panel 15 with their front panel 25 parallel to it, FIG. 7B, and at the same time, they are gripped by the lateral edges 36 of their cutout 19 the spectacle lens 10, while maintaining this applied against the bottom panel 15, thanks to the oblique nature of these lateral edges 36.
  • FIG. 7B It then suffices (FIG. 7B) to raise the closing flaps 27, according to the two arrows F3 of FIG. 7C, which implies a simple bending of 90 ° of these closing flaps 27 around their fold lines 28 with a joint folding of the bellows 30 around themselves around their center fold line 31, until, as shown in FIG. 7D, these closure flaps 27 also stand perpendicular to the bottom panel 15.
  • this external envelope 13 comprises an alignment of main 44 and side 45 panels which, alternating with each other, are jointly closed in a loop on themselves by a connecting tab 46, along a rectangular cross section and a contour square corresponding to the cross section and the contour of the receptacle 14.
  • this external envelope 13 advantageously comes entirely from a single blank of cardboard, corrugated cardboard or other sheet material, suitably cut, creased, folded and glued.
  • stop means Preferably, between the outer casing 13 thus formed and the receptacle 14 are provided stop means.
  • these stop means comprise, along two opposite edges of the bottom panel 15 of the receptacle 14, at least one tenon 42 which results from a cutting in loop 41 locally interrupting the fold line 24 corresponding.
  • two pins 42 are thus provided on each of the two opposite edges of the bottom panel 15 along which the box edges 16 extend and project from the side of the bottom panel opposite to the box edges 16, when these box edges 16 are themselves in the deployed position.
  • the pins 42 of the receptacle 14 therefore each come respectively to engage in the notches 48 of the outer casing 13 (FIGS. 4 and 7E), which is sufficient to maintain the receptacle 14 in the outer casing 13.
  • the packaging according to the invention has a cutout opening 19 with lateral edges 36 of particular shape for wedging which will be described in more detail below. .
  • the immobilization results from the point contact of the lateral edges 36 of the cutout opening 19 with said upper outer surface of the object.
  • the body of the lens or of the spectacle lens is immobilized by contact at the level of each cutout opening 19 in at least two elementary localized contact zones corresponding to the punctual support of each lateral edge 36 of each cutout opening 19 on the upper lateral surface of the glass, just at its upper peripheral edge and this whatever the thickness of the glass which varies as a function of the power and therefore of the curvature of the lens and as a function of its angular orientation in the plane of base of the packaging body for so-called progressive lenses.
  • the shape of the lateral edges 36 of the cutout 19 can vary as a function of the degree of effectiveness of the holding effect to be obtained, and of the amplitude of the variation in thickness to be covered.
  • the simplest form is an oblique line 49 converging upwards with its symmetrical counterpart 50 as shown in FIG. 12.
  • the slope of these oblique edges largely depends on the range of thickness differences to be covered. If this range is extended, for a number of glass models to be covered, for example close to five, the slope will be steep. On the other hand, if there are only a few models of neighboring thicknesses to be packed, the slope will be less inclined.
  • the immobilization can be improved by reinforcing flaps 51 and 52 obtained by not ejecting the material from the opening of the blank 19 during the cutting of the cardboard as shown in FIG. 13.
  • flaps 51 and 52 improve the rigidity of the oblique edge of the opening used as a pivoting articulation line 53 and 54 and therefore the quality and the strength of the immobilization. Open, these flaps also provide, by their presence, better mechanical strength of the boxes 16 and additional support of the end engaged in the opening of the cutout 19.
  • the shutters can be folded down entirely or partially. To do this, the ends of the flaps 51 and 52 are cut at an angle and more or less, for example according to the end portions 55 and 56 hatched in FIG. 13, so as to be able to open them more or less depending on the shape of the object to be packaged and the intended application. We can thus achieve a real effect of envelopment and additional protection of the part of the object engaged in the opening of the cutout 19.
  • FIGS. 8 to 10 Another layout of the lateral edges 36 is suitable for a large number of models of the same diameter. This is the specific curve shown in FIGS. 8 to 10. This curve is formed by a lower part 57 and an upper part 58 curvilinear and of inverse curvatures, connected together by an inflection zone 59 more or less extensive. The lower part is convex while the upper part is concave.
  • this type of layout in the general shape of an "S" with two reverse curvatures 57 and 58, constitutes the best possible compromise between the oblique line 50 or 51 of the lateral edges 36 and a vertical line 60 formed by the succession of elementary contact zones, each materialized by a cross, corresponding to different thicknesses of glasses of the same diameter.
  • This layout guarantees by its sole form an effective contact for support for all the thicknesses of glasses located inside a useful zone indicated by an arrow at two ends and located between two limits materialized by a dash in FIG. 11.
  • This form of cutting admits a sufficiently wide range of variation in height between a minimum thickness and a maximum thickness of glasses.
  • spectacle lenses cannot become too thin for reasons of solidity and resistance in the frame or exceed a certain thickness for aesthetic reasons and the capacity of the frames.
  • the portion of the lateral edges of the opening corresponding to the useful holding range that is to say that located on either side of the area of inflection, will be placed at a height such that it will be able to cover the maximum of real thicknesses of glasses.
  • the box edges 16 of the receptacle 14 advantageously make it possible to be satisfied with different geometric characteristics for the spectacle lens 10 and the other objects to be packaged.
  • the establishment of the receptacle 14 in the external envelope 13 is done by insertion into an external envelope 13 already formed.
  • the external envelope 13 can be formed around the receptacle 14, by enveloping the latter.
