Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a new folding box structure with curved faces, which can be stored flat and capable of being shaped by simple manual pressure on the deformable sides.
  • the object of the invention is to propose a box structure allowing an easy production and storage, the box being in the folded and flat state, and a shaping no less easy without carrying out any mounting or joining of elements. any of the box.
  • the object of the invention is also to propose a particular version of box fulfilling the above requirements and capable of constituting a cup which, once in shape, can be placed upright on a flat horizontal surface.
  • Such a structure is relatively complex, not very economical in material due to the provision of the folding parts which extend from the top to the bottom of the cup and over practically its entire width and the stability of the cup is precarious due to the instability of the parts. folded down with free ends.
  • the method of folding and shaping the cup does not allow a wide and stable opening and prohibits any printing for example of an advertising message on the visible faces of the cup once in shape since these faces are in contact with the food content of the cup when it is not open.
  • a tetrahedral box which can be stored flat, but which has no curved faces, the configuration being such that it cannot pass from the flat position to the position in volume, without the box being in the open position.
  • the invention aims to improve these known structures and to eliminate the drawbacks mentioned.
  • the subject of the invention is a folding box with curved faces, storable empty flat and shaped by simple pressure, consisting, flat, of two sheets facing each other and of the same dimensions, of polygonal outline , sealingly contiguous on all sides of said polygonal contour except one and in which, in line with at least one of said contiguous sides, the two sheets comprise two arcuate creasing lines, superimposed, ending at the ends, or at in the vicinity of the ends, of the junction line of the sheets delimiting said contiguous side, the shaping of the box being effected by pressing towards the center of the box in the middle of the contiguous side or sides provided with said creasing lines, characterized in that that the sheets extend beyond at least one joined side by a strip where the sheets are joined, said strip, during the depression of the middle of said side for the shaping of the a box, folding against the concave face thus formed.
  • said contour is rectangular, square or trapezoidal, the contiguous sides, except that opposite to the non-contiguous side, being provided with said creasing lines, the extensions beyond said contiguous sides of said sheets having a rim in the extension of the end edge associated with said contiguous side not provided with creasing lines and extending over a distance sufficient to delimit with said end edge, after folding against the concave faces of the cup, a support polygon for placing the cup in standing form on a flat horizontal surface.
  • one of the sheets is made of cardboard and the other sheet is a sheet of preformed plastic material which is preferably transparent, the cardboard possibly being treated as a whole or on its face facing the another sheet so as to allow the connection between the two sheets by welding to the right of said contiguous sides and their possible extensions.
  • the box shown flat in Figure 1 comprises two sheets 1a and 1b of rectangular cardboard, of the same dimensions and superimposed.
  • the two sheets consist of a single sheet folded back on itself along a line 2.
  • Lines 2, 3 and 4 define a rectangular outline, the fourth side of which, symbolized by FIG. 5, is said to be non-contiguous in the sense that the opposite parts of the two sheets can, at this point, move apart to give access to the interior of the box.
  • the two sheets are extended by forming overlapping strips 6, 7 and 8 respectively.
  • the strips 6 and 7 corresponding to lines 3 and 4 are joined together over their entire surface, while the strips 8 are not and can be opened, giving access to the inside of the box.
  • Each sheet 1a, 1b comprises four arcuate creasing lines 9, 10, 11 and 12, in line with the four lines or sides 2 to 5 respectively.
  • the arcuate lines 9 and 12 respectively connect the ends of the associated sides 2 and 5, while the arcuate lines 10 and 11 join the sides 3 and 4 respectively at some distance from their ends.
  • the two sheets 1a, 1b are identically grooved, the lines 9 to 12 being thus superimposed but not joined so that the box can be shaped as shown in Figures 2 and 3 by pressing in the middle of the sides 2,3 and 4 to push these towards the center of the box.
  • the box is thus given the general shape of a carton with two convex star-shaped faces with four branches delimited by the sheets 1a and 1b, between the arched lines 9 to 12 and three concave side faces designated by the references 13 , 14 and 15 in Figure 2.
  • the narrow side strips 6 and 7 are curved and fold down by pressing against the faces 14 and 15 thus marrying their concavity. Their role is to serve as stiffening ribs and to maintain the formed position of the box.
  • means for closing the box which may vary in their nature. It may be a closure by sealing or welding along the side 5 or to the right of the strips 8 or any system allowing at will the opening and closing of the box.
  • the side 2 can be extended by strips for securing the two sheets, similar to strips 6 and 7.
  • the two sheets 1a, 1b are made of the same material or not. When they are different, one may be made of plastic, preferably transparent, and the other of cardboard treated as a whole or on its face facing the plastic sheet to allow the two sheets to be welded in line with the contiguous sides (2,3,4) and any bands (6,7) adjacent to these sides.
  • Such a box advantageously serves as packaging for the presentation and sale of all kinds of unitary or bulk products, food or not, which can be perfectly observed through the transparent plastic sheet if such a sheet is provided.
  • the berlingot shape is a harmonious shape and the convex faces of the box lend themselves easily to all kinds of aesthetic and / or informative impressions.
  • FIGS. 1 to 3 are perfectly suitable for packaging on display stands with hanging rods.
  • the arcuate lines 12 of the two sheets 1a, 1b can be deleted if necessary.
  • the polygonal contour formed by the contiguous sides such as 2,3 and 4 and the non-contiguous side such as 5, can be any, the number of sides being equal to or greater than three, with at least one of the sides can be opened to access the inside of the box.
  • the pairs of arcuate lines are arranged in line with at least one of the contiguous sides, all of the latter being able to be provided with them as illustrated in FIG. 1.
  • Figures 4 to 6 illustrate an alternative embodiment according to which only one of the contiguous sides, that (17) affixed to the opening side of the box, is provided with arcuate lines 18 on the two constituent sheets 1′a, 1′b of the box.
  • Figure 4 it is a box whose outline, flat, is rectangular with two adjoining lateral sides 19 and 20 not provided with arcuate lines.
  • the three contiguous sides 17,19,20 are extended by narrow bands 21 to 23 similar to bands 6 and 7 of the figure 1.
  • arcuate lines 18 extend beyond the ends of the side 17 as far as in the external corner of the connection zone of the adjacent strips 21,22,23.
  • One of the sheets (1′a) is, for example, of transparent plastic, of the type used for the blister, while the other sheet (1′b) is made of treated cardboard to allow the sheets to be welded at right sides 17,19,20 and peripheral bands 21,22,23.
  • the box is closed by two flaps 24 in the form of a biconvex lens, superimposed when the box is flat, and folded against one another in the formed position of the box so as to completely block its orifice.
  • this system is also well known. Said flaps 24 are separated from the body of the box by arcuate lines 25.
  • the contiguous sides 19 and 20 could of course be provided with arcuate lines analogous to lines 10 and 11 in FIG. 1, the box thus formed would then have the shape of a real carton, with four concave side faces.
  • Figures 7 to 9 illustrate an alternative embodiment of the box according to the invention intended to serve as a cup once shaped.
  • the two sheets 1 ⁇ a and 1 ⁇ b are, for example, square in shape and linked together along the lines 26, 27 and 28 as well as in line with the strips 29 adjacent to the side 26, and two triangular extensions 30 and 31 associated with lines 27 and 28.
  • the non-contiguous edges 32 are extended by strips 33 which can move apart to give access to the interior of the cup once the latter has been shaped (FIGS. 8 and 9).
  • the two opposite contiguous sides 27 and 28 are associated with arcuate lines 34 and 35 extending to the ends of the sides 27 and 28.
  • the sheet 1 ⁇ a preferably has a rigidity greater than that of the sheet 1b in order to have a preferential folding of the triangular parts 30 and 31 against the part of the sheet 1 ⁇ b between the side 28 and the line 35 of this last sheet.
  • the particular shape of the triangular parts 30 and 31 is determined so that the lower edges 30a and 31a are of sufficient length so that once folded substantially at 90 ° from the bands 29, they determine with the latter a support polygon allowing the cup , once in shape (Figure 9), to stand with its substantially horizontal upper orifice.
  • the shaped cup has two concave flanks 36 and 37 (FIG. 8) similar to the two lateral flanks 14 and 15 of the box in FIG. 2.
